[COMPILATION] Latest HD2 (2012 edition) Roms with Loud Sounds - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi. Most of the time I read a lot of queries in the dev post asking how to make the sound louder (especially the ringtones) and looking for fixes. This thread aims to help those wanting louder sounds in their HD2.Please feel free to add other 2012 roms that in your experience has this feature. Thanks.
I am currently using these because of the loud sound feature:
GB
My HD2 Tmous: Team Blue Droid SENSE 3.5+ HTC ONE X TWEAKS EU TMO
ICS
My HD2 EU: Leo King 2.3.6 ICS 4.0.4_CM9_Rc2_Bulletproof

It's the one thing that annoys me about the HD2, I can hardly hear the ringtone in loudish places, if I could get ringtones/alarms as loud as the WP7.x ROMs it would be perfect.

Yup... sometimes you just look and oopps! 10 missed calls (wife) ...

good excuse to teh wife, weak ringtone lol
try those trance/ club ringtones in google play, some are really loud with high pitch.
I wonder if there's a way yo mod the speaker coz even if WP7 ringtones are loud the sound is already muffled or distorted which means the speaker can't handle high SPL sound.
....unlike those China Clones which can be heard from miles aways in a busy subway lol :cyclops:

Yup mengfei's right (name my favorite classic kung-fu character!).. the China clones are really loud (I have a haipai "Note" with ICS)... everyone can hear the ringtone in a mall. And.. good battery life too. I just can't seem to install recovery although there is a thread about it here.

Why not just use Volume+?

Volume+..Louder Volume Hack..etc. are apps installed after the rom. It would be nice to know roms developed already with such loud feature.
Unless the ones I use now are the loudest then those looking for loud sounds may give it a try.:good:

Increase Max Volume - BT + HEADSET BOOST

Is there a hack for increasing the max volume? It seems to me that the max volume isn't that loud as I want it to be.
I saw some posts for G1 but I'm not sure it those work on desire.
Thanks!
Yeah +1 i want too !!!!!
I was wondering this exact same question as I find that listening to pod casts and media through head phones on my Desire is a lot quieter than listening the same items through the same headphones on my Hero. Making me think it is the phone rather than the actual head phones or apps.
If there is a way to increase the max volume so I can hear music over the noise of the machine at work then I would love to know.
Thanks
Try the Meltus hack in the xda forums somewhere. I've got it cooked it, but have not really tested.

That's the one I was talking about and I believe a read somewhere that it doesn't work on Desire and frankly, I don't understand why, or I think it needs to be just a little adjusted, because we are talking about the same operating system. Right?
Meltus found out that it has to be changed in the kernel for the N1 and desire.
found this:
http://github.com/cyanogen/cm-kernel/commit/f044b1069c4d853e535fce2b800a0af4947a22f7#diff-0
no idea if cyanogen has implemented this already...
it's the ROM
The UK T-Mobile ROM ha very quiet output from the headphone jack. The vanilla HTC one doesn't.
stock rom not good either

I have a stock ROM and the sound on mine is also too low (lower than on my Hero) so I'm hoping a custom ROM can fix it....?
Can confirm after flashing custom rom ( T- mobile UK originally) sound through headphone jack is louder.

u can try one of the custom roms(leedroid or revolution) which are including 20% volume up in their kernels.
Definitely you need to use some of custom roms.. Leedroid 2.2.2 or Revolution HD.. They have sound boost patch.
This Is sick. I have to root my phone and install a Custom Rom just to make my speaker sound better. Why can't htc do this

I'm sure HTC would have gone through a lengthy and detailed testing situation for this product. They obviously felt that the speaker volume was enough to be heard whilst not affecting the quality of the speaker component.
It's a phone though, not a surround sound system.

I think you misunderstand the information revolution. A modern smartphone is not a phone. It is an information/multimedia device. The phone functionality is a relatively small part of the device for most people who use it for Internet, music, video, e-mail, etc. So the poor sound volume is not unimportant.
Horses for courses. I have a custom Rom with enhanced sound but I wouldn't know any different. If I want to watch or listen to something I plug in headphones anyway, it doesn't bother me.

Lol, Viva La Révolution! Agree to the above, but if it means that more little buggers plug in headphones rather than listening to crap music out of a one-inch speaker as they walk down the road then I'm all for moderately adequate volume. Or maybe I'm just getting old before my time
Realistically speaking though, you can't expect miracles to come out of a speaker that small. Although software technology has advanced in terms of what can be achieved in audio output (hence the Dolby and SRS), the hardware hasn't come along in leaps and bounds and is limited to what can be achieved.
There is a post about a fix on hemorrdroids.net/do-you-wish-your-desire-hd-speaker-could-be-louder/
You will need root and a custom recovery though...
people who use custom rom with loud speaker
copy&upload default.acdb
from
/system/etc/firmware
i think this file for loud speaker
For me, speaker is ok.
It's really designed to be used with headphones for the multimedia audio.

I agree
Though alarms are quieter than on my moto milestone one day it didn't wake me up
Today was a success, volume was good. I need the rooster alarm file from the milestone LOL the htc ones are "quietly brilliant"
Come on ppl Have you compared it to an iPhone? Our speakers suck. No I am not an iPhone fan but there is a huge difference. Not just the speakers but also the incall volume.
I am on a custom ROM with the 20% increase thru out and it helps but it still doesn't compare to an ancient Nokia (work phone) I have next to me.
With headphones no issue at all.
Just have to live it cause the rest of the phone makes up for it.
True the iclone has a better speaker but it is attached to an inferior phone.

Review and issues with Wolfbreak's v 6.0.0 rom

I've been using this rom for a month now, and I've noticed that it tends to get a bit laggier every day. At first it was blazing fast but now it's as slow as the original rom. I also suddenly started having a problem with my earpiece speaker crackling.
To fix this I've done the Pull-out-Battery reset. It's helped with speed but the earpiece is still crackling terribly.
To solve the earpiece issue I've turned my in-call volume down to very low and the crackling is a lot less worse.
I just wanted to post a review and a few small things that have been a bit buggy for me with this rom.
Overall I really like it and I can live with battery-resetting my phone every once in a while, but I'm disappointed in the speaker damage.
If they can fix whatever is damaging the speaker I'd say this is a great ROM.

Did you use xLoud? Because that hurts the speakers pretty damn much.

xloud has bad news written all over it
Though the Wolfbreak Rom does come with xloud, I have it disabled.
I have to wonder why it is still included in the rom though, I seem to understand it's fairly well documented to cause speaker issues so I would have thought it would be removed from all roms by now.
i hv v6 WB but it doesnt have xloud preinstalled.
u have to flash it if u want ...
Mind you, even though WB can work wonders with any roms he produces its still based off a SE firmware which can never be truly faster than anything AOSP.
At least in my experience.

Just want to say i've been using Wolfs Rom (V7b6) for unlocked bootloader (Doomlord Kernel v06) for little over a month now and i've never had any issues. I flashed several things like xLoud + Bravia; battery mod from kitchen; different fonts; different lockscreens ...etc. I hear some people do have issues though, mainly the loss of contacts when the phone shuts itself down (which i think is due to a locked bootloader-not sure). Maybe i'm blessed with a good device/battery . I absolutely love this rom So big big THANK YOU 2 WOLF. Peace.

Using WB stock kernel and recently my unlock screen disappeared. It doesn't even give me the option to lock the phone by holding down the power button.
Anyone else notice this glitch?

Voice quality issues with cm7 and miui

I'm making a new thread for this because it applies to cm7 and miui and will get buried in their threads.
Basically im assuming MIC volume is maxed out. Your own voice can feedback into the speaker when on a call. You sound distorted to the person on the other end, especially when you're not in a quiet location. Basically making the phone part of the phone un usable. I have had this happen on all cm7 miui builds.
Also speaker volume can not be changed when the screen is off
Known issue acknowledged by Uber that is somehow involved with the mic feedback resolution. They are working on it, but I have no idea when it'll be fixed. Flashing Bushido or Shadow kernel seems to help.

Having the same problem! Thought it was the replacement phone I just got but on stock 2.3, the mic sounds great.
Distortion and low mic threshold. Picks up way too much background noise.
"sounds like you're surfing"
hahah

[Q] Speaker (both) aren't very loud... Anyone?

So, I've noticed that my in-call volume (which I've maxed) isn't very loud.
Also, the ringer/notifications aren't very loud either...
I moved into this N4 a couple days ago from an Atrix 2. Is it just that my A2 was a lot louder?
I'm using the Paranoid Android ROM. Is there a way to tweak both volumes in this ROM or somehow else?
Try fauxes kernel and his app on the playstore

Wow. Most helpful comment on the forums. Ever.
Can I please get someone else to chime in?
Maybe some other people that have a N4 that have good sound stock, or others that think its really quiet?

Personally, the speaker is fine. It's quite loud. Probably the speaker and notification ring is louder on the Atrix 2 and you were so used to it.
If you want it louder you're going to have to switch kernels.

Oh well, I guess I'll just live with it then. I will eventually get used to it I'm sure. I have to use speaker phone a lot because I can't hear people with the ear speaker.
Was thinking about a bluetooth ... but I tend to hate those...
