Nexus 7 and IMAP E-Mail Issues - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been trying to setup my work email with the native email application.
We have an IMAP setup; all my incoming server settings are correct, but the app returns "username or password is incorrect." Everything is functioning normally on our server and I am able to login to my email from my Galaxy Nexus, Linux environment, Windows environment, in our office, and via VPN outside it. Any ideas?

Just a guess, but have you double checked security option?
I have 4 IMAP accounts on 3 different servers working no problems.

I HAVE THE same issue with Just host my domain name..
the settings i use a re
user --- me.me.com
login -- me.me.com... no just me
also choose imap at the begining of setup..
but make the imap server mail.me.me.com
this is how i get mine to work on android.. Do not know if its the same issue for you or not but it helps me..

Gmail on XDA 2 W2003 SE

I cannnot acces to my email un gmail.
I'll really apprecaite if somebody can give me all parameters
I have 3 Gmail invites available
I was able to access my Gmail on XDA II. I now have an XDA IIs with 2003 se. I used the same parameters as on the XDA II 1.72 but I am unable to access my gmail. It seems to log on but stops in the downloading process.
Sorry, but I just realized that the problem I was having with my gmail account was not due to using 2003 se but because apparently (I don't know how) the settings on my gmail account had changed.
Here are the instructions that helped me from http://www.pocketpchow2.com/archive/2004_11_14_index.html
Update: Using Gmail from Pocket PCs
Earlier I had written here about how Google has started providing POP access for their Gmail email service. This week my account was enabled for POP access, and since then I had been trying to get it working with my Pocket PC. My efforts had been stymied by an error stating that email could not be downloaded to my mobile device. Today thanks to some assistance from Ed Hansberry got it to work. The trick is to enable POP only for new mail rather than for all mail.
If you have a Gmail account and want to access it using your Pocket PC, here is the information that you need:
Your userid and password is the same as what you use to access Gmail via a web browser
The incoming mail server name is pop.gmail.com
The outgoing mail server name is smtp.gmail.com
You need to configure the account so that the Outgoing e-mail server requires authentication
The account also requires an SSL connection
If you read Google's instructions for setting up an account you will notice that they specify port numbers for the incoming and outgoing mail servers. The numbers they provide are the standard port numbers for SSL access, so all you need to do is configure the Pocket PC account to use SSL.
You specify the authentication and SSL connection information on the 2nd account options screen. To access that screen tap Options on the fourth E-mail Setup screen and tap Next to display the Options (2/3) screen.
Since Gmail is free and provides 1 GB of online storage for email, it is a very useful email service. What makes it even better for Pocket PC users is that it requires SSL, which encrypts all your email as it travels between your Pocket PC and Gmail's servers. Keep in mind that when you use regular email servers that don't use SSL via a wireless connection, your email is floating through the airwaves in clear text. That means that anyone with the ability to capture wireless traffic can see the contents of your email. I highly recommend that since most people access email via wireless connections today, they use some form of encryption, whether that is provided by VPN or SSL.

Qmail with T-mobile

Hi,
This is driving me nuts.
I have installed qmail (q3u) and cannot get it to send mail.
I have the smtp server as smtp.t-email.co.uk which works fine with pocket outlook. The only difference I can see is that within pocket outlook it is set to authenticate with the outgoing username and password left blank.
qmail will not leave authenticate selected if the username and password are blank.
can anyone help?
thanks
I am using Qmail and cannot get my free Hotmail accounts to work. My other accounts do work. However, it may take me 2 - 4 times to try to log in before they connect. Hotmail will not connect. Any suggestions?
Sorry I cannot help you with your problem.

Hotmail, as has been pointed out in some of my mailer-related articles (for example the IMAP Bible at http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=1247&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1 ), doesn't have POP3 access in its free version. You need to either subscribe to Hotmail Plus or use the built-in Messaging Hotmail account (which does have access to your mailbox - but no other mailer client on your PDA) coming with your Wizard.
well i've managed to fix my problem now. I needed to put the t-mobile smtp server address within the local host section on the smtp tab.
the only thing i can suggest for your problem is to check that the dial up option in qmail is set to the same gprs connection that you usually use.

HTC Email app not working for Gmail

The last email I received on my Hero via HTC Email app is at 8.46am.
If I sync by wifi or Tmobile 2g I dont get any more emails.
The Gmail app does, my ipod Touch does. I have deleted the email account and recreated but no change.
Any ideas.
Just checked my yahoo account with HTC Mail and this works fine.
Has Google got issues??? I have all the correct imap settings
imap.gmail.com SSL port 993
smtp.gmail.com SSL port 465
I configured a gmail account in HTC Mail and it has been working fine. Only had to enter my accountname (mail address) and password. And HTC Mail configured everything else. Maybe you shouldn't configure your Gmail account manually?
Works fine for me. Both accounts I have set up are refreshed properly. I'd try deleting the account and setting it up again to see if this does the trick.
I have already deleted account.
Can you tell me if the Google email auto account settings by HTC are POP or IMAP?
If its pop3, then I wont be able to view the folders.
What I dont understand is this email has been working for nearly 2 weeks no issues.
Baffled.
Just deleted any did the HTC auto setup. Gmail setup as IMAP will same settings as I did manually, but still the newer messages from today are not showing.
This is really p*ssing me off.
Just come off the phone from HTC UK Technical support. I was speaking to a lovely lady who was very helpful. It took 30 mins but we solved it.
In a nutshell from my laptop I deleted some emails from my inbox , 5 in total out of 13 and suddenly the HTC Mail app was taking ages to sync and then voila.
It appears as if the sync status on the app got corrupted. But all working.
Happy now, and I must say a big thank you to HTC support
Hah, this is weird. I deleted and re-created my both accounts (IMAP) to check if I could reproduce your issue, but they were still syncing fine for me.
Glad you got it all sorted out.

I love push service with my Galaxy Tab

Push Service from my Email Server to Galaxy Tab (or other Phones which supports Exchange)
is so great!!
Every change of my Outlook Contacts, Calendars, Mails will automatically pushed to my Tab
over GSM or WiFi, without connecting the Tab to a computer with Kies or other Sync Software.
All you need is a
1. Linux Server i.e. Unbuntu 10.04
(Apache,MySQL,PHP5,postfix installed and working)
2. Zarafa collaboration Server (Exchange like Mailserver)
(Provides POP3, SPOP3, IMAP, SIMAP
100% MAPI stable Outlook Sharing
Outlook "Look & Feel" webaccess)
3. Z_Push
And the best... it's all free.
Seems like a rather convoluted way to achieve something that can easily be done just by having a Gmail account!
Regards,
Dave
As it was said, you can have the same much easly by configuring your own domain under google.

Having a gmail account isn't a solution for lots of peeps with corporate exchange based email systems. Especially for those that only allow active sync access with no pop or imap.
There are several direct email clients supporting active sync, including the 'built in' android email clients. For example,Touchdown works quite well.
Another proxied-like solution that is a bit simpler than the above is DAVmail http://davmail.sourceforge.net/ This does require OWA on the exchange server, but owa being 'on' seems more common than exchange servers with pop or imap support. DAVmail can get rid of one intermediate 'hop' in the above solution.

Yes, we know that - we're commenting on setting up your own pseudo-exchange server setup just to gain push email!

[Q] Cannot add wifes work email aco****

I'm trying to setup the phone for my wife and trying to add all of her emails.
I added her gmail account without a problem, same with her hotmail and right after I wrote email address and password it recognized it and added both without a problem.
But I'm having problem with an emial address my wife has from work, I think it's hosted on gmail but the email address is in this format [email protected] right after i enter email and password it doesn't add it automatically but rather goes to selection of pop3 or exchange or imap, and after that all the other settings like pop server and port, etc.
I checked her iphone and that's what I can find how the account was setup there....
Description - Gmail
SMTP - smtp.gmail.com
Server port - 993
Use SSL - On
Why don't you add it as a gmail / Google account?
