Hey guys,
Was just wondering how I would get Apex Launcher to fit correctly? When I use it, like a quarter of my screen at the bottom can't be used for apps and widgets, I tried playing with the grid size to no avail,
Any help?

If you look at the screen shot, no icon will go further down to the bottom of the screen.

No issues here running the version 1.3beta2
I can see you are on a different DPI, try it on the default 213

What are your home screen margins?
I had the same issue - I tried the grid size. The next option down you can select if horizontal and vertical margins. I have these now at NONE and I can put anything anywhere. Before adjusting your DPI, etc. try this.

Same issue here
This has come up about 1000 times. Apex needs to set the default margins to something smaller, or put the instructions in the description in the playstore. It is nice to have the control over the margins, but it turns people off to have to go through a learning curve to do something so basic on something like a launcher.

So I use that popular LCD changer that most of you use, and set it to 200... or 190. BUT... no matter what it won't let me use the extra space to relocate and use more icons, on either the desktop or the apparently pages. There's enough room for lots more icons per page, but my Tab thinks there isn't and keeps snapping them back to where the original density would limit them to.
???
Is this a limitation of the OEM launcher system? Which reminds me... is there a way to replace the Samsung browser icon on the launcher (to the right of the Alps button) with, say, Dolphin or Firefox?
Think there's already a thread on this I think.
Anyway, changing the density will not change the layout of the home screen (lower dpi wont add an extra column) unless you manually change it with LP/ADW or whatever other home app you use.
And do you mean you want to change the shortcut? Longpress as you do with any other.

if you had used the LCD Density program you would know what he was talking about. thats an idea dont you think?
What he's saying is this:
LCD Density makes things smaller and on the desktop it appears to give more room for more icons however that room / space is not usable at all.
You can use launcherpro to make more icons on the launcher

Launcher pro replaces the OEM one... can't the OEM launcher be used to do what I want?
I don't think there is anyway to do that in the stock launcher.
You need to use either ADW launcher or launcher pro.
I recommend ADW.
Oh btw if all you want to do is have more icons on the launcher you need not use LCD density changer.

i use lcd density changer and also adw ex (paid for version of adw). density at 180 and have 10 icons per row and 10 per column... fits the screen perfect and is just right for me.

What bit of my post have you ignored? The middle bit?
That's what I said. Changing the density will not change the layout of the desktop. It wont give you more rows because that's not what it does. It makes the phone think the screen is larger thus makes everything smaller.

Having all of those icons and rows must be an editable option that comes with the paid version of ADW. I can't get more than 4 icons across and 4 down with free ADW and 180 lcd.

In the free version you should be able to change rows and columns under screen prefs in adw settings

Thanks, but the only options or any type of settings I see for the free version of ADW are the "Launcher Actions" when you long press the home screen (or other any of the adjoining screens). I'm sure you already know but these are just shortcuts for ADW actions. I suppose I will check out the paid version.

You press menu>more>ADW Settings then scroll to Desktop Rows/Columns.

Awesome. Thanks man. Something so simple yet I could not find it. Exactly what I wanted!

Hello.
I changed the DPI settings to 240DPI (with the ROM Toolbox app) and I really liked it.
I changed TW Launcher (I liked it but didn't resize well) and installed APEX launcher.
For the Dialer I use exDialer with the ICS skin.
BUT, I had a nice-discrete-elegant-black wallpaper with a little ladybug that I found on these XDA forums, and on the lockscreen I see it correctly but on the APEX navigation y have a monstrous Godzilla-sized ladybug.
It scares me.
Does anybody know the resolution I have to choose? Is it a straight rule of the thumb? I mean
X * 240 / 320 ?
Why does the lockscreen show it correctly and APEX doesn't?
Thanks in advance.
I use Nova launcher it has no problem with walpapers!

Just set the wallpaper again from within Apex.

Doesnt work forme mate.
Thank you anyway.
LCD density doesn't change the screen resolution.
Try using the Gallery app to set the wallpaper.
This is the pic about the problem...

I think I have same problem.
I set wallpaper and instead of it showing normal size like before now I am presented with a zoomed in wallpaper that hides a good percentege of my wallpaper crop, even if i select 1 screen fixed wallpaper.
Now what I don't know if this happened because I installed go launcher, or because of the 240 lcd density... Gonna revert to 320 now to see if it fixes.
Go launcher shows ok.
The rest fail miserably.
Fixed it now ^^
Just went to 320, changed the wallpaper, then returned to 240 and the wallpapers are correct again xD awesome!
I've tried it and I'm still with the same problem.
What did you use to choose the wallpaper?
What resolution?
While on 320 i used the TwWallpaperChooser and chose the beach wallpaper, then went back to 240 and everything was ok
Just installed the new beta of apex 1.2.beta3 and wallpaper shows perfect without doing any trick.

lol yea im sure ive had at least one device that when you setup a home screen go portrait then back landscape you would have half your widgets added to a new homescreen. jellybean is soposed to solve this issue but still not all app widgets are 100% resizable

Hi, Natenatenate...
You mention you are using Apex...
The trick with Apex (if you want to use it in both landscape and portrait) is to ensure the 'grid' setup is identical in each.
I have found a 6 x 6 icon arrangment for both landscape and portrait optimal, with margins both vertical and horizontal set to 'small'.
...and do not use the Tablet UI setting...
Below are my screenshots...
In landscape, note how the dock bar and search bar are now down the left and right hand sides of the screen respectively... this preserves 'aspect ratio' and negates the squashed effect you report.
Finally, the dock bar can support up to 7 icons (at 100% size), with the dock bar horizontal margin set to 'small'.
Hope this helps...
Rgrds,
Ged.
Hello,
Been using Nova Launcher Prime for quite a few months now. I really enjoy how light and slick the launcher is, however I generally add icons and little more than that. I don't really play around with the grid settings, margins, however I have seen so many great home screens for the Nexus 4 I'm beginning to get a little jealous as many are using Nova and not some bloaty launcher like Buzz.
I have found when using an icon pack, the dock icons are never the same size as the icons above on the main home screen. If I check "small icons" in dock settings they are smaller as I would expect, however if I uncheck this then the dock icons are bigger than the homes creen icons.
It gives any layout I'm trying to achieve an odd look. I wanted to give my screen an MIUI/Iphone home screen look where the icons in both dock and above are the same size. The only way I think I can do this is remove the dock, but then I won't be able to add dock backgrounds should I wish.
Anyone understand where I'm coming from here?
Also, if someone can point me somewhere to get the best out of Nova, put together some cool home screens etc, Thank you.
Have you tried resizing icons under nova settings>look and feel>icon size? Haven't really paid attention to the icon differences as I don't use a dock now.
Sent from my neXusâ´ using Tapatalk 2
I've noticed that some icon packs don't play nice with nova. Meaning that the icons get stretched out and look like they're cut off. Now if I manually add the icons, they're fine. It's not all icon packs though. Have you tried other icons?

I think there is also an option for the hight of the menubar itself (normal and higher). maybe this will help.
I'm currently using GEL and just have one homescreen/pane.
When I set the wallpaper to a custom image, it seems to be setting my home screen to the left most pane and not centered, like when I choose one of the default wallpapers that comes with the launcher. Any ideas?
The alternative I found was to add widgets so that I can get 5 home screens, and then the default homescreen is finally centered. But I feel it defeats the purpose.
I can't get my home screen centered using GEL for the life of me. Tried everything. Its always to the right of Google Now.
