What rom should I use? - myTouch 3G, Magic General

I love to try different roms, and I recently found out that the G1 roms works on the Magic. The problem is that it's mostly for 32B and I have a 32A. I know that if I use the old radio the roms will work, but I don't want to try my luck.
My phone specs:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A ENG S-OFF H
HBOOT-1.76.2007 (SAPP50000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-6.35.16.19
Currently using FroyoDragon, want to try different roms with stability and speed. Any suggestions?

Look at the development section and you will find a lot of other ROMs, like Ginger Yoshi, HTX MIUI and Cron Mod. They are all fast and stable.
You can try Sandwich Deluxe. Keep in mind it isn't that stable. Battery intensive, bleutooth not working,... but you will have android 4.0.

I've tried HTX MIUI, it was very slow and restarted on me a lot.
Cron Mod and Ginger Yoshi didn't spark me. Have you personally tried either of those two, and would you recommend it?

I have used Cronmod and carz cm7 and they are stable.
I changed from car cm7 to Cronmod because it is being actively developed.

Is there any G1 roms that fit my phones radio + spl?

My recommendation
try CronMod-1.0.7 NR with Chaos kernel or BanditKernel. BanditKernel kernel work very good for me link for sapphire here :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1641521

what is wrong with myhero?
I think it's one of the snappiest roms for the 32A, hero or non-hero.
Cyanogen is my recommendation too for a non-hero rom. Try the experimental donut one.

Cyanogen is the best non Hero ROm i think , just tried it out for the last Days but anyway for me the MyHero Roms are faster in scrolling , if haven't too much programs in the background loaded i would still prefer the MyHero

Best hero rom for magic 32a

What is best hero rom (bt an led works, no lag) for 32a??
In my opinion it's the 'eVilHero' with 'TigerTaels' kernel and his audiofix.
can you give me a link, please?
I thought that evil's was only 32b. If not, please enlighten us.
That would be good... I tryed to figured out how to install that rom using tigertaels kernel patch but with no succes =(... I get a little bit confused...
I'm at the phone so you guys have to find 'TT's' thread yourselves.
Just download the 'EvilHero' rom to your sd card the same with 'TT's' Hero kernel and his audiofix. Boot up your recovery and wipe, then flash the rom and then directly after without a reboot flash the kernel and then the audiofix, but that is not necessary for the rom to function.
I will make a better 'tut' when I get home with proper links.
Thanks mate =D...
Waiting for the little guide =P... Even that I know now a lot more than when I started into the magic, sometimes I get confused =(...
Here you haver a nice explanation of how to combine some Hero 32B ROM with 32A Kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4615515&postcount=1
I'm actually using the latest Evil Hero v3.0 with Case_ "eViL ROM 2.9.9 2.6.29 BFS-303 32A v1.1" kernel
So far so good...

Believe it does. At least the videos I've seen on Youtube got multitouch with a HTC Hero ROM.

Looks good - I'd just love it if it was written so a complete moron at this could do it. I.e. me.

This is by far the fastest, most stablr Hero ROM. I tried Evils and it has some bugs that need to be ironed out.

Looking for fastest image for HTC Magic 32B - 2.1, 2.2 or 2.3.3

Hello.

I'm willing to downgrade to 2.1 or something for better performance. What to install?

Hi!.
With Ginger 2.3.3: www movilzona es / foro / superaosp-t5262.html (sorry for the bad write url, but it's my first post and I can't write the complete url)
Look at the statistic and compare with other.
I have some problem with downgrading radio for CyanogenMod 5.0.8-DS.
I will try superaosp.
thank you.

What do you mean downgrading the radio? You don't have to.

Try GingerYoshi 1.1, it's the fastest one out there (with BFS kernel, of course, though it has some battery drain, it depens if you can live with it, or use the common CFS kernel. After trying BFS I couldn't stand CFS, but then again, your senses may vary XD -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1010932 )

[Q] HTC Magic 32B recommended ROM's

Hi there, HTC Magic user here.
I've gone back to stock ROMs for a bit but lately I've been wanting to go back to a rooted phone.
My previous experience with Cyanogenmod 5 and 6 has been terrible, the phone ran slow and even completely stock there would be either launcher restarts after running even the messaging app or app force closes if the launcher was kept in memory. The only ROM's that worked well were 1.6 based ones but of the three that most people use, they all have problems which make them difficult to use in the long run.
tl;dr What ROM's are you using with your 32B Magic and what optimisations do you do to stop lag and memory overflows happening?
Ezgingerbread (link in my sig) is what I usually use. Its pretty light and fast.
If you want as many cm features as possible while still having some speed try cos-ds.
If you really like cm features, there's greenromproject cm7 or anotger cm7 rom who's name I can't remember. I haven't used those yet so I can't say anything about speed there.
And these are all gingerbread roms. Idk what to suggest for other versions.. I got into android right before cm6.1

Nope. There are gingerbread roms for every radio. If you are talking about the 2708+ radio then I would recommended it for the extra ram
I'm currently running Ginger Yoshi 1.2 and love it. I've used CM 5.0.8, CM6, Ginger Yoshi 1.1 and now 1.2. All have worked great on my phone. The one thing for me is that I wipe everything...everytime. To include my SD card manually. I save my files on my computer and put them back after I load up the ROM.
help
Hi Everybody,
do you known or do you have a link to download the ROM please.

Search is your friend
If your phone is rooted you could always get Rom Manager Free from the Market and get the rom of your choice. I use CyanogenMod-6.0.0-DS and the phone runs great. It's actually the only ROM my phone has been able to handle fully with no issues. OS 2.2 is the highest I would put on the MT3G. I've tried Yoshi's, EzTerry, Greenrom, etc.. and all either had issues or just wouldn't work.
Search in this forum, RC Magic V7, SFM 1.2 sense 2.1 (Its great recomended), or clean magic (Fast). All whit htc sense! I tested all and work greats!

Have used both SFM 1.2 and Clean Magic 5.01. Would highly recommend either of them. The new lock screen in SFM 1.2 is very cool though

Sorry, just realised they are both 32A only ROMs. Maybe take a look at Ginger Yoshi 1.2

I've tried biffmod, gingeryoshi and few others before them, unfortunately each left me wanting to try another rom. Now I'm on froyobylaszlo I simply don't have that yearning for another rom anymore, and I suppose that says it all. I think I made a couple of tweaks but nothing major(can't remember though!) and it runs great, very smooth and fast.
Only issue I have is running speedtest, where it reboots occasionally.

Thanks for that, but they're both 32A ROMs.
My phone is the 32B and only has 192mb of RAM so I don't think they'd run

The ones I recommended above actually are for the 32b though.......
If you need links let me know.
Recommend the rom's froyobylaszlo.

[32A]What's the fastest ROM?

I haven't found a topic about this issue, except this one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=902405
What is the fastest ROM for Magic 32A? I don't care about radio or spl I can change them. As for the rom I don't care about looks or super duper features, I just want it to be as fast as possible with all things working properly. Right now I think I'm using Ginger Yoshi 1.5.
Completely no one knows?
I like carz's CM7.1 port

try gy 1.5 with old radio the baterry long lasting, cm 7.1 have battery drain issue,
If you want speed, find a light donut or cupcake rom with as few features as possible.
Well, since this is probably going to just be an opinion thread, I'll give mine...
You probably don't want to go all the way back to a 1.5,1.6 ROM, because you will be missing out on a lot of apps that just are not compatible with the old Android versions.
But with the current version ROMS my suggestion is either the Ginger Yoshi 1.5 (2.3.5), good ROM, I've used them all the way from the 1.3
Or the Stock OTA 2.1 ROM with root, because it doesn't have all of the features packed in, but is a solid ROM, and since it is rooted you can still use tethering or whatever your purpose for rooting is.
I say 1.6 for speed...for some speed and batteries with features I said a nice eclair like super e or stock 2.2
Sent from my HTC Magic using XDA App
Opinion time? Yay!!!
Best donut: super d
Best eclair: idk, haven't used it
Best froyo: dreamteam froyo by me
Best gingerbread: ezgingerbread by ezterry
All of these (maybe not super d) work with 32b and 32a old radio
I like SFM rom (gingerbread):
