I know there are already a lot of discussions on battery drain and believe me, I have read every single one of them. However, I think mine is slightly different:
When fully charged and using WIFI for 10 minutes, 10% of juice will be used. Listening to MP3 for 1 hour will also use another 10%. Overall, battery life is really bad but the key is it only happened suddenly. It have been very good up till now.
I have tested this on another battery and have exactly the same results so it is not battery related. I have also hard reset the phone and tested the battery with nothing installed and it still drains. A full charge only lasts me like 4 hour of very light use.
I installed Battlog and the power consumption is around 90 which I think is pretty low, but at times, even with this low consumption, I can see the battery usage literally falling before my eyes, like 5 % in 5 minutes.
I have also tried the HTC battery test, i.e. fully charged the battery, turned on plane mode and full brightness. After one hour, it only used 8% which I thought is normal. However, if I start using the phone by just simply clicking around, it will start dropping.
I believe the phone is fine on standby but once it starts doing things, even simple operations like moving around folders, it starts consuming a lot of power.
This all happens after an overnight charging episode when I noticed that the light stays amber in the morning and the percentage stays at 80%. I soft reset the phone and it immediately show 100%. This has never happen again but my battery usage is never normal since.
All in all, I think it is somehow hardware related, like the battery gauge is bad or the charging is never complete but it still shows green. It is still under warranty but I think will be very difficult to convince the service centre that there is something genuinely wrong with the phone.
P.S. Should also mentioned that I am using the stock telstra rom and have also cycled through the batteries twice before testing.

You should try resetting you battery:
1: let your battery drain to 0%
2: fully charge your battery while keeping your phone off!

I had actually "reset" the battery but only drain it to 5% before recharging as I have read that it is not safe to drain to 0%. I'll try to completely drain it tonight and recharge. Will report back.
btw, I noticed that when the battery is charged to 100%, the led stays amber for about 15-20 minutes before turning green. Is this normal or should it turn green immediately after reaching 100%?
Tried completely draining the battery and charge overnight but have no effect. The problem persists. So this is definitely not a battery problem.
I guess the last thing I can try is charging the battery with a standalone charger or another HD to see if there is problem with the charging mechanism in my phone.

aidinali, can you please explain what you mean? I thought the led will go off if you unplugged the charger. My problem is that after reaching 100% as indicated on the phone, the led stays amber for another 15 minutes before turning green.
Well , I'll correct & explain more....
1-when you reach %100 ,the led will turn to green immediately (if you’r phone is plugged in).
2-if you unplug ,the led will turn off (as you said ).
The problem is that since the battery meter in HD has not been defined by percentage , it doesn't match with
Apps like battery level or battlog .so when you see %100 on them , it' s not "real % 100 ".
I believe there is something wrong with the phone as the percentage usage and charging status do not match. However, since the basic HTC software does not have any battery usage in percentage, it’s hard to convince the service centre that something is wrong.
Any software that shows the battery as a percentage all have the same reading, so I assume they all rely on the mainboard for that information. There is obviously something wrong with either the charging process of the phone or draining more battery than it needs during usage.
I have 100% exactly the same problem as in the original post.
Does anyone else?
I have also tried 2 batteries and had exactly the same results with both, so I also know it is not the battery. The only app I have installed other than Dutty's 6.5 rom is Tomtom which does not need to be run for any of these issues to occur.
Any chance on warranty? I think it's software...
Try a different ROM. I've been having the same problem. I just flashed a new ROM about an hour ago (partly because Dutty's 6.5 kept freezing). I'm hoping both problems will be solved now.
i've found the latest radio rom to make a big different to battery life. 1.14.25.24_radio
the previous radio rom (1.13?) did suck the juice and made battery last 2 days less than 1.14
Try charging with a different charger. Ie. connect a USB cable on your PC and charge it from there.
I've had very similar problems with the stock charger a month after i got my TouchHD, and ended up testing with my old P4350 charger and all problems went away.
I've had similar drains even witch WiFi off, no emails, exchange or 3G access...
Now i'm getting a whole day's usage and i'm left with 30-40% battery, with 2 hours average talk time
I've tried with a number of chargers.....battery still sucks.
I've just switched from Dutty's to Energy ROM, radio is 1.14
If anything...energy drains more quickly than Dutty's

Ok, I've used Energy ROM but now using Dutty's Leo. The only thing I've loaded so far is Battery Guard which say it's drawing 98mA when on standby(ie....backlight goes off). That'sa massive difference on the 250mA readings I used to get....now all I have todo is figure out which program I'm loading that is killing my battery.
That still only equates to 12 - 13 hours on a good standard battery with no use at all.

Standard battery should last longer. Sounds like your battery may be slightly faulty. Make sure you let battery drain fully before charging, and always try charging with device off. Should help improve strength.
I had same problem when i flashed miri's rom, hd got warm and didn't last, it cooled down in standby, the answer to my problem was that the wifi was not set to save battery mode, once i set it to save power everything was ok

Have been trying that for a month now....something seems to have suddenly worked It only used 8% of the battery in 24 hours! I live in the rainforest with no service so cellular was turned off...wifi on, but I only accessed it about 6 times......still,nothing has changed. The same conditions would leave me with a dead battery in 7 hours previously.
Time will tell if it keeps up this well.

So basically you're saying people should drain down the battery to 1% or so and not to 0% (device dies when battery is out) to get a better battery strength?
Seems to be the general consensus. I'm still not sure if that's what made the difference for me but previously,I would put my device to standbye when I went to sleep at 10:30pm and it would be dead by 6am
Standart disclaimer: I am not responsible if you break things by following this guide, though I will be genuinely surprised if you do.
Credits: This fix is a combination of battery management techniques discussed in the Atrix forums + a technique that I originally found in a Milestone forum (I didn't invent it, but I am too lazy to search who originally posted it ).
This worked in fixing the problem for me (the same problem that I see many others are writing about on the forums), but I can't guarantee it will work for you.
Who should use this? (aka your battery problem symptoms are
1. Battery life on 2.3.4 is significantly worse for you than before.
2. Battery stats are jumping and showing inconsistent information.
3. Your phone loses 30%-60% just by sitting there overnight.
4. Phone idle draining 30%-60% of battery just by sitting there overnight.
5. After flashing a couple of roms, your battery stats got messed up and the phone thinks it's at 100% charge while it's not.
I personally started having battery problems after flashing a couple of roms, applying 1% battery mod and despite flashing jug6ernaut's CWM battery fix.
When I went to bed with a 100% charge, I would wake up to a 50% charge, with Phone Idle process showing up as massacring the battery. The steps below successfully fixed the problem for me.
Prerequisites:
1. Atrix on one of the rooted 2.3.4 roms (ideally,- deodexed and with unlocked CWM)
2. Wall Charger
3. jug6ernaut's CWM battery fix (put it on your SD card you will need it later!) I have also attached it to this post.
4. Battery Calibration app from the market
5. Watchdog Lite or Full from the market
Instructions:
It's best to complete this procedure in the evening before going to bed, so you can leave it at 100% overnight and check in the morning if the drainage issue is fixed!!!
The whole procedure along with recalibration might take up to 5-6 hours!
1. Take the case off your Atrix (one of the latter steps involves taking the battery out from the phone while it's plugged in. Make sure your case won't stand in the way.)
2. Install Battery Calibration app from the market
3. Plug in your Atrix to charge while it's on, wait till it gets to a 100%
4. When the charge is 100%, open the BatteryCalibration app and lookup what the charge is in MV while at 100%. (Explanatory pic, needed number circled in red). Write it down.
My Atrix was showing ~3400MV while at 100%, which is definitely not the maximum capacity.
5. Discharge your Atrix completely until it shuts off.
A good way of doing this quickly is by turning on wifi, and a video player.
6. Without turning on the phone plug it into a wall charger and let it get to 100%
7. When it's at 100%, without unplugging it from the wall charger, take off the battery cover, and take the battery out.
Your phone will "reboot" and show a Missing Battery icon.
8. Without unplugging the phone from the wall charger or turning it on, put the battery back in and wait until the phone recognizes the battery.
9. Your battery should now be recognized by the phone, and showing a charge % significantly lower than 100%.
Mine showed only 5%. Back when I used a Milestone, it usually showed 60% after doing this.
10. Let it sit there charging for 2-3 hours.
My phone wouldn't charge past 10%, but yours might. The numbers don't matter much as the phone is definitely getting additional charge that could have been lost while flashing ROMs, etc.
11. After 2-3 hours, turn the phone on while holding the volume down button and get into CWM.
Do not disconnect it from the charger still!
12. Install jug6ernaut's CWM battery fix (even if you had it installed before), do not reboot yet.
Do not disconnect it from the charger still!
13. Wipe battery stats in CWM, reboot.
Do not disconnect it from the charger still!
14. When the phone turns on, go into BatteryCalibration app again and look up your MV numbers
- if you were like me, they should be significantly higher than before. After this whole process I had 4200MV at 100%, comparing to 3400MV before calibration.
Do not disconnect it from the charger still!
15. Before going to sleep - Install Watchdog from the market. Go into it's preferences, set CPU threshhold to 20%, check "Include phone processes", check "Monitor phone processes", check "Display all phone processes", set system CPU threshhold to 20% as well.
Do not disconnect it from the charger still!
16. Make sure your wifi and data connections are off. Now finally unplug the phone from the charger.
Go to bed, let your phone sleep too.
17. Success! Next morning check where your battery % is at and if you followed the instructions correctly / got lucky like me, your battery life should be 90% or more.
I went to bed with 98% and woke up to 94%. So, I consider this mission a success.
(Your general battery capacity should have increased, even if something still was draining the battery, you will be able to find the infringing process in WatchDog with the settings we've set up in step 15 )

Important things to know:
1. It's important to understand how battery indicator on Android works and how Android manages / reports your battery life. Please read this article:

2. Li-ion batteries used in modern smartphones don't have "charge memory". Partial charges won't hurt the battery (e.g. charging from 60% to 80% or from 10% to 50% etc). Feel free to give your phone small charges whenever you have time and need the phone to last longer.
3. Smartphone batteries don't like to be completely discharged or to be kept at 100% capacity for extended periods of time (this actually damages batteries over time). But worry not, the battery software prevents this from happening for you. That's why some of your phones never get to 100% or drop from 100% to 90% minutes after you disconnct the phone from a charger.
4. All batteries gradually lose a small percentage of their capacity after a certain amount of charge cycles. It's a natural part of life. It's always nice to have a spare battery or to purchase a replacement when your current battery isn't to the task anymore.
5. Don't pay much attention to the battery %, just use your phones. I know it's very tempting to track your battery usage every 15 minutes and try to find problems. Been there myself. Thing is, if you do this, you might start thinking you have problems, when you don't have any.
Bottom line - just try to use your phone and not mess with the battery unless problems become really apparent.

Other proven ways to improve Battery Life
If you have re-calibrated to a full capacity (4200mv) but your battery still drains terribly - follow these steps to pin point the problem.
1. Find which app / process is draining the battery.
If you get lucky, the infringing app will show up directly under the stock "Battery Usage" statistics. However, in most cases "Battery Usage" isn't very informative. Most people report that they only see "Phone Idle" consuming most of the battery without much insight into the details.
Things to do:
- install Watchdog, go to preferences, set CPU threshhold to 20% (or even lower if it's not enough), check "Include phone processes", check "Monitor phone processes", check "Display all phone processes", set system CPU threshhold to 20%(or even lower if it's not enough) as well. Run it for a couple of days.
If you start getting frequent Watchdog notifications about a certain app breaching the threshold - uninstall it, find an alternative.
- install BetterBatteryStats from here -

Once you find the infringing app - uninstall it, if it's a process - find out if it's safe to stop / freeze before doing anything.
2. Freeze bloatware aka "stop the problem before it becomes a problem."
Unless you are running CM7, your rom is based on stock 2.3.4 and still has blur in it. Blur apps and processes might be running without you even using them and sucking out precious batter life while they are at it.
Things to do:
- Get TitaniumBackup, freeze all bloatware that is mentioned as "safe" in this thread -

Use your phone for a couple of days afterwards and watch for improvements.
If these software tweaks aren't enough, the problem might be with your system setup. Go through these steps which should hopefully fix your setup in favor of awesome battery life:
3. Flash a custom kernel, set up battery saving profiles.
Many people have reported success with this step. Custom kernels are not just for overclocking. A custom kernel with smart profiles will definitely give definitely extend your phones operating life during the day.
Things to do:
- Get a custom kernel., the popular choice on here seems to be faux'es kernel, so I recommend it -

Get one of the battery saving SetCpu profiles along with it. Basically, a good battery saving profile looks something like this:
- absolute minimum CPU clock with screen off (something like 275 Mhz)
- lowering CPU clock with temperature > 50C (something like ~800Mhz)
- lowering CPU clock when battery < 30% (something like ~800Mhz)
Many people reported success in using such profile for lowering "Phone Idle" drain.
4. Flash a different radio.
WARNING: Be extremely careful with this. Flashing a wrong radio is the right way to hard brick your phone.
Although some people are reporting to have fixed battery drainage by trying out a different radio, I seriously wouldn't recommend going on a flashing spree unless you know what you are doing.
My advice here: flash the latest 2.3.4 for your carrier if you haven't yet. From there on, experiment at your own risk.
5. Disable Data and Wifi when idle either manually or with an app."
I seriously get surprised every time someone says they have a horrible battery life, when they keep an internet connection on at all times. Constant data always = battery drain.
Things to do:
- use apps like Green Power to disable data / wifi for you when you are not using it
- learn to turn off your internet connection manually
6. If all else fails - start over from scratch (read: clean install a rom).
I've heard reports of people getting better life with Froyo than GB, or that a specific custom ROM solved their problem for them. A million dollar question: if it works for you, why not use it?
Things to do:
- try a ROM without blur, like CM7
- try Ninja Speed Freak (developer and many users reported great battery life)
- if battery life is your top concern - try Froyo

Are you using stock Orange 2.3.4 rom?
If yes, your Rom might not have the battery jumping problem. You can still use this guide without the battery fix to recalibrate.
Let's wait for someone with Orange 2.3.4 to confirm if jug6ernaut's CWM battery fix can be used or not.
Indeed, I have not the battery jump issue, but I'm exprimenting some weird behavior...
like when I restart the phone, it shows about 10% higher than before. I tried this multiples times yesterday. When it was about 40%, it starts to drop suddenly, 'till it got to 18% and get back to normal decrease to 4%, 2~3 hours later...
See the images attached, the red circles are the times I rebooted it and the blue arrow is when it drops suddenly...
Question on step 4. To confirm, we shouldn't click on anything in BatteryCalibration, all that needs to be done is take note on the MV number, correct?

Did it only start doing this on 2.3.4 or you haven't checked before? Anyway, I would do the calibration to see if it changes anything.

No clicking in step 4. Just write down or remember the MV number.
Yes it just starts when updating to 2.3.4... In the first days I got the impression of lower battery level, so reading the forums I saw the restart/level change problem, and tested it

You probably updated to 2.3.4 while not at 100% battery level, and it messed up your battery stat. So, yes, do all the steps in this guide except for jug6ernaut's battery fix part.
thanks, ill give this a shot....again.....tonight and hopefully it will fix my issue.

I'm on a rooted stock GB and I'm having the problem where the battery usage stats are inaccurate and won't got below 90% after using it all day. This all started after I used Battery Calibration. Do you think that this would help correct the problem?
Edit: Also, would I need to complete all of the steps including the CWM part? I haven't flashed any roms yet, so I don't know if this would be necessary.

Seems like you used Battery Calibration while not at 100% charge and your battery stats got messed up.
The reason I recommend using CWM is because the battery stats file is created on each boot. So, with my instructions you can charge the phone to 100% while it's off and wipe the messed up stats before it boots.
You can try using my instructions, without the CWM part, except you need to wipe your battery stats with Battery Calibration app after step 4.
lol i left pandora on since this morning and its only at 67%. ugh, when i wanna force drain the battery it goes slow as hell but when i wanna conserve battery live for usage it drains quick. hahaha.
I just flashed navalynt's πCrust rom fully charged, cleared stats through cwm, booted and now i'm close to 3days.

lol yes. I used video playback to drain mine. But if it's really a PITA, you can always just leave it till tomorrow to discharge naturally.

Yep, that's why flashing only when at 100% charge always pays off.
I get the same results by booting to CWM, wiping battery stats, rebooting, starting Battery Calibration, plugging phone into wall charger, charging to 100% (4197mv for me), and then calibrating with Battery Calibration. I start this process at any battery percentage, and have been doing this for a long time now. I have never had to deplete my battery until my phone shuts off, and get great battery life.

After the calibration I had 4200mv, so it seems like you are doing things right in regards to the battery.
"Taking the battery out and putting it back in" trick works wonders though in restoring battery life to maximum state (if you had it decrease for some reason). I've tested it multiple times even back when I had the Milestone.

My had brother hard a problem with his phone regarding his battery life. He claimed it drained too quick. So he bought a new phone.
After I had "accidendatlly" destroyed the eMMC of my nexus 4 (See this thread) he gave me the phone and told me if I could fix it that I can buy it for a sharp price form him.
I've replaced the battery with a newly bought one online and got the phone out of hibernation mode by connecting it with USB cable and doing the volume down + power button trick.
I've noticed some issues regarding the battery:
- The first time I rebooted it battery life went from 96% to 84%. This was when doing a factory reset (from the menu in android 4.2.2). This has occured once.
- Last night the phone was fully charged so I hooked it off the charger and turned it off. This morning I turn it on and I notice the battery is at 66%. Literally 1/3 of the battery life was lost when the phone was turned off.
Obviously, (I think) there's a loss inside the hardware of some kind. There's one piece of history attached to the phone.
My brother had it one month and dropped it on the floor and his screen was cracked. He then let the screen be replaced by a repair center. They did replace the screen and locked the screws from the battery with some kind of glue (i think) because it was very hard to loosen them.
My questions:
- What could have caused this? Can it be by something done by the repair shop (reversible?)
- In which part of the hardware is this (loss) most likely to occur? Or one can't know this?
- Would it be sensefull to disassemble the phone and replace the screen with the screen from my broken phone (the one with the broken eMMC chip), or is there 0% chance on success by doing this swap?
- Any suggetions on how to tackle this problem or is it just something I'll need to accept. (which is hard to accept, )

You should first try to charge it to 100%, then calibrate the battery (there's a little tool in the play store called BatteryCalibration). The percentage values are just approximate. Android knows the amount of mA the battery has when full and constantly checks the current as it drains to calculate the percentage left.
Calibrating the battery basically means deleting these statistic files to allow the system to start from scratch. You may need to do a few discharge/charge cycles until it is somewhat reliable.
If this doesn't help I assume the fault is hardware sided.

Nexus 4 seems quite vunerable to this though I've not found the cause/solution for this on the web yet.
Exactly the same here: Old battery made a worn-out impression, so bought a new one. Actually tried three different new ones from ebay now, all do the same: They charge up to 4.3V around, and when unplugged drain to 87% in a few minutes, i noticed the voltage going down to 4.0/.1V mostly, too.
The current battery seems ok from battery life, but i want an even distribution of the battery status, no matter the voltages - how can i achieve/fix this?
I have this strange issue with the battery calibration.
At first i thought the battery was dying on me. It normally stay active to 35-44% and then the OS would just suddenly report the battery is dead and just turns off.
Then i just boot into TWRP recovery and leave the screen on. And it's able to stay on for another whole hour at maximum screen brightness till it actually dies.
I tried deleting the battery stats in the data folder and letting it drain to 0%. But the OS still thinks it's out of juice around 35-44%...despite the fact that it can stay on for another hour or so in TWRP recovery.
Is there anyway to adjust the capacity of the battery in the OS?

When this happened to me (but with 20%), all I did was letting the battery drain and charge it fully while turned off. Don't know if it actually works, but it solved my issue. Give it a try .

Funny, I had just about the opposite problem. It was stuck at 35-45% while charging, or it would only go up about 1% every 20-30 minutes. Sloooowwww. Same solution seemed to fix it--let it drain to shut-down, recharge with power off to 100%. It seems to charge faster with power off, but I haven't done an a-b test to verify.
So I just started getting this after the update to 5.0 on my N10.
Beforehand I never noticed anything, although its been a few months since i have used it till a really low battery.
But I updated to 5.0. Used it for a while, the OS registered like 70% battery and then instantly 0% and it shut down. So I booted to the bootloader to see and it ran just fine for a while. I got bored and booted it back up, immediately shut down.
I plugged it in and booted it up and it was a 0% for a LONG time before it ever registered as actually charging. Then it charged normally until it got to like 25% and then instantly to 100%.
Im hoping its just a calibration thing, I did a factory reset just to be safe but it still did it. I guess the next steps if it still does it after a few cycles is to install a custom recovery and clear stats.

I've got almost the identical issue as the OP. Tablet shuts off without warning around 35-40% batter. When I reboot it says 0% battery and immediatley shuts down. If I boot into recovery mode though it will stay on for 2-3 hours before dying. I tried this and then charged it to full overnight with the device powered down and still today it shutdown again around 40% battery. Tried a battery calibration app before too but nothing has fixed it. This is 4.4.4 stock rooted with xposed. Been happening for about 2-3 weeks now. I'm pretty sure it's got to be software related right?? Anyone find a fix yet?
Just posting to say I'm seeing the exact same thing. It also just started happening since the update to Lollipop. It is shutting down at about 30-40%, then when I turn it back on it is at 0% and will shut down immediately unless it's plugged in. However, like the rest of you also said, in safe mode it'll stay on for a while longer without being plugged in. We really need a way to calibrate the battery somehow. This is a very frustrating problem. No warning at all!

After a full charge it's saying I only have three hours left on the battery. Battery life is really poor. I'm not sure if the battery is worn out (I've had the tablet since it came out) or if it's from the update.

Just had the same start yesterday. Was charged to 100% ran a high intenssity game for an hour (makes my cell phone heat up and kills the battery like mad) but it was NOT affecting the 100% charge. I thought 'thats funny' then it started to go down some then it hit about 55% then BAM. Drops to zero and shuts off.
After that it would not take a charge no matter what I did but then for no particular reason except I was lazy and didnt wanna have to boot it up again after I plugged it in, I left it plugged in and went to take a nap. Came back an hour later and it had charged to 43% after having been at zero for about 20 minutes after I left the room.
Now its stuck at 43% and wont charge any higher. I'm leaving it alone for a few hours to see if it will ever get to 100% then ill run it down to zero then charge it over night turned off to 100%.

But then others say you should do it with the Nexus 10 because it DOES calibrate the battery and that the tablet software protects the battery from actually going to zero%. (Saves a few percent and shuts off).
But then also someone else said battery calibration only works via a hardware change inside the tablet and that we are actually talking about conditioning. But then someone said conditioning is the max storage and that the 40% to 0% drop is not conditioning and since the charge discharge charge is for conditioning a Ni-Cad it wont help. Around we go.
There was also mention of a samsung PHONE having a problem with a bent usb pin inside the phone. But you had to pop the battery to bend the pin and since you cant do that a on Nexus 10 that doesnt help. (Plus the pin doesnt look bent to me even though about 30 people chimed in saying it helped them. But that was all phones.)
And finally. One website says you have to root the nexus 10 and use a batter calibratino app to calibrate it as option a but option b was some crazy combination of charge to 100 discharge for an hour, charge to 100, discharge for an hour, charge to 100, discharge till your aunts pink underwear falls off or something equally strange.
I'm betting based on you guys os upgrade bug. Just too strange. My 2 year warrenty ran out last month but I hadnt turned it on in six. Maybe thats a good thing. Be stupid to send it in for repair only to find out it was software.
Have to see if after my full cycle charge-discharge-charge it works again.

Suffice it to say I've been seeing this issue as of Android 4.4.4... NONE of the posted recalibration techniques seem to work and as usual, Google non-support is just as useless. As far as I can tell, once in this state it's here to stay... I've had my N10 shut down at 28%, 37%... even as high as 55%, and on re-charge (if I do it turned on) it charges to a point and then shoots straight up to 100%. I've seen the "takes forever to get above 0%" issue too... none of this has happened in any consistent fashion. I had hoped that friggin lollipop would solve this but instead they added a host of OTHER annoying bugs: as in after I restart it, the tablet goes into an optimization mode where it decides it has to re-optimize all 362 apps I have on the wretched thing. There naturally are a few others but they are beyond the mainstream of this evening's symposium....

I don't know how... I don't know why... After nearly 10 months of this behavior... I recently went through a couple of charge cycles (after it dropped to zero yet again) without letting it drop to zero.. AND NOW IT'S FINE!!!! I have no clue why... None of the stupid on-line non root solutions worked... I think that it's possible for this thing to recover after a random sequence of events which unfortunately cannot quantify because I had pretty much given up.

I am getting the same experience as most of you. Tablet shuts off at around 45% saying there's zero battery left. I assumed it was the battery going bad.

Well technically the battery starts going bad (yeah it's not supposed to... but nothing lasts forever) once you start running the discharge/charge cyle over and over again. To be sure my N10 is more than a few years old and while depending on use it can last a few days... it sure doesn't go quite as long as it did between charges as when it was brand-spanking-new. That said, and as said in my more recent post where I thought that the battery was borked, it now will last around two days with heavy use and about three with moderate use... and it now discharges appropriately to near zero warning me to connect the charger without just dying at 30-50 %... and the charge profile is a smooth curve from low to high with no sudden jog to 100% once the charge indication hits 60-65% like it did before. That would *seem* to indicate to me that this is far more a software issue than a battery one, and that purchasing a new battery may "fix" the problem but it won't FIX the problem! i.e. it'll only be a matter of time before it comes back. For all I know, some recent update to some google app took care of it...
After updating from CM11 to stock 5.1.1 I got the same problem. My N10 switch emmidiatly off at 70% battery. It was fine with CM11. Any news on this? Did a battery calibration, but this didn't helped.
I'm also getting this problem for the first time on the Temasek CM rom from 11/05/2015. It seems to have come up only since the 11/05 version.

I am having this issue (I think) since I received the update to Lollipop. So, basically it is a bit more than a year now. I was hoping a Marshmallow update would solve it, but: nope!
For installing Marshmallow I also did factory reset and all that stuff: it does not fix the problem...

today my phone just didn't show any other battery capacity than 50%. I had it on my car dash charger for multiple hours. This evening it still turned off and showed the "Battery too low" screen, so I assume it did not charge.
First, TWRP also showed 50% and a very long weird number as CPU (top left), then it stopped showing anything about the battery
After I turned it off and tried to charge it, it crashed in the bootlogo and rebooted.
Any ideas what to do? I already reflashed the firmware.

Currently encountering the same issue with my OP5 now and when I consulted a tech regarding this one, he informed me that it may be a possible motherboard or battery issue. Will have my OP repaired by early January and hoping that it's only a battery issue(fingers crossed).

Looks like you drained the battery too much and the battery chip got confused. Or worse, one of the cells died. This doesn't just happen to OP5, but to all batteries.
There are a few options:
Replace the battery: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/OnePlus+5+Battery++Replacement/103028
Turn off the phone, then charge it fully while off. Then slowly drain the battery again, in a way where the phone isn't sleeping so Android can gather battery statistics.
If above didn't work, then do above method, but also clear battery statistics in TWRP, or the recovery of your choice.
There's the option of putting it in a vacuum sealed bag, and putting it in the freezer. Google for details, and do's & dont's.
