i foolishly encrypted my nexus 7 and now i can't remove the encryption. restoring to factory does not do it. is it because im rooted and have a different recovery?
I don't have an answer to your problem, but I do know that this shouldn't be in Dev. section....
Definitely wrong section

Hello. I have rooted my Nexus 7. Do I need to relock my boot loader after I root? Google has recognized that my device is rooted and won't support Wallet now. Not sure what it's seeing.
AahahahahajajJa
It still works. Don't even worry. It sees superuser just like most other apps that look for root.

Do I need to relock after I've rooted?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Nope, if you relock, you wont be able to try out the ROMs ect
okay here's what i did unlocked bootloader, rooted then installed twrp, installed PA then installed https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.franco.kernel.free then rebooted after that stuck at google logo
Did u flash a kernel within the app first???
Just reinstall the ROM will probably fix it. Don't bother wiping anything since your staying on PA.

Bricked my nexus for good but the good thing is I was able to retern it from where I bought it and now have a new one

Yeah same thing happened to me except different kernel. Just reflash ROM or working kernel. Not bricked just an incorrect kernel choice.

Hi. I was on a plane last night after the longest week ever on a trip.
I have a perfectly functioning nexus 10. I downloaded a flashable zip of clockwork touch recovery instead of the non touch one I was using.
Stupidly I flashed it and rebooted and ever since I get the gallery error of now external storage. Google play doesn't work either.
In setting the nexus knows I have 13gb available and I get no error messages when I boot into recovery.
A pain in the butt for sure and I am not sure how to undo my stupidity.

I tried reflashing. I tried fastboot -w. I tried a few other things but to no avail.
I'd prefer to just blast the entire partition structure and start over

I'll redo the boot loader tomorrow. Maybe flash the Ubuntu preview then back.
Thoughts?

So far no luck. I've relocked and unlocked. Changed recoveries. Installed ROM after ROM and still same error. I'm completely at a loss
Anyone have any ideas?

Did you try fix permissions in recovery? It's worth a shot.
I dunno why flashing any version of CWM would cause this though.
I did yes sir. I tried 100 million things. In the storage section of settongs the tablet knew it was a 16gb. But just wouldn't let it be mountable or usable.

Its almost like it doesn't know its partition size or where it is.

I am having the same issue, not able to access Google play or the internal storage even after reinstalling to factory image many times. Have you got it resolved from Samsung. Please update
Hi. Sorry for the delay.
Sadly I contacted Samsung about it and it was officially broken. Happily Samsung repaired it under warranty for me. It was the motherboard that died.

Folks, what's your experience with using encryption and CWM recovery along with Cyanogenmod ? I came across different conflicting reports with regards to issues with being able to use recovery after encryption.

Don't flash anything from another device.
Read the instructions carefully to install/flash a rom or kernel.

+1 That`s about the only thing to brick a Nexus
Don't do any formatting, and don't delete partitions. If you need a clean slate, do a factory reset or flash the stock image using fastboot.

The only thing you can't format is the bootloader that will brick it

Yep avoid flashing stuff for other devices. Most things will be recoverable but some can brick it. E.g. recoveries
Never ever use the command fastboot erase bootloader as this will 100% be a brick
I haven't seen anyone do it on the nexus 4 however i have seen people do it on the nexus 7
