Ok.... I'm very confused:ZE551KL with 6.0.1 (MM)

Please forgive my stupidity - I'm a longtime Samsung Android user and this Fastboot/adb process is all new to me. Last time I used that was with Original TMOBILE Mototola G1!!
So, this is what I have: I had my device ( ZE551KL ) on LP, Bootloader unlocked with TWRP and rooted. 'Cause I first unlocked the Bootloader with the official ASUS app.
Then I installed the OTA ASUS MM version, but according to everyone, once one install the OTA upgrade, it relocks the Bootloader, correct? How can I test this??
This afternoon I put device in Fastboot mode and did a "fastboot boot twrp-3.0.4.img" and it worked!!!
It boot into TWRP and am busy making a backup now.
My Question: if my bootloader is still locked, how could I boot TWRP?
Can I try and 'Fastboot flash recovery twrp....' and will this work or am I going to brick the device?
Ideas? ( well, rather experienced advice, please)- as I would hate to brick my device.
The TWRP backup I am currently making - is that any good/helpful to anyone that can help us getting this device properly unlocked and rooted?
Thanks
I did try the official ASUS unlock tool on MM....
I forgot to mention that.
I did try the official unlock tool on MM, but the app just failed.
I opened an issue with ASUS regarding this, as their website specify version 1.16 'and later'
Does this mean I am good to flash TWRP??
Am I good to flash TWRP if I get this message??
You are good. I had unlocked the bootloader long time ago, and I have installed MM, they don't relock it back. It would be strange to do that, since once unlocked you lost the warranty... it would be like they will gave you back the warranty!
Dude, your bootloader is unlocked. You're good to go. Fastboot flash that recovery and go to town.
From your description it is clear that you have successfully unlocked your device. Once it is unlocked, you wont be able to lock it back. So there is no way to revert the process and it affects warranty. Now anytime you can flash TWRP with fastboot and install custom ROM. If you want to install Stock rom install stock recovery and use ADB sideload to install Stock ROM. if you have any other doubts visit my youtube channel [TheMobileShots] where i have provided the tutorial to do these things. Have a great day!

How to fix screen freeze bug when using new ROM

Ive never seen it before. Ive installed 3 cook ROM and they all have screen freeze bug (inspite they are stable ROMs). Pls help me out of this loop. I just typed about 400 words and it freeze and I have to type this again. Im writting with angry pls help this newbie.
Im using zenfone 5 T00F
This bug cannot be fixed . Its due to booloader.lock your bootloader and get back to stock rom . Or else use custom roms that works with locked bootloader .
Thank you! But.. How to lock bootloader? With fastboot?
You can use any automated script for that . Or manually lock it by flashing the dnx and ifwi files through fastboot .
But after I relock the bootloader, can I flash new ROM? And after relock, does it affect to the ROM which im using?
You are facing screen freeze issue because of your unlocked bootloader. There is no way to fix this issue. Only solution is just revert back to stock firmware. Otherwise there is no option for that.
You can also use any ROM which required locked bootloader. But I don't guaranty you about stability and performance .
No. After relocking the bootloader you will not able to flash the custom ROMs. And also after relocking the bootloader, twrp recovery will also not work.
Custom ROMs, custom kernel, twrp recovery needs unlocked bootloader.

How to unbrick my ZTE Axon 7 mini b2017g

Dear Seniors.
I am facing great hardship because my phone is stuck at boot logo.
No booting in recovery mode to flash another rom.
I did unlock bootloader of it by using tuliptool with success. After that i flashed custom rom in it. after reboot it is happening that.
Please suggest to recover it.
Did you flash twrp after unlocking? Did you make backup of stock ROM? Perhaps find a version of the factory firmware and flash that.

In easy words......... my recovery.img has been corrupted. I have no idea to get rid of this situation.
I planned to unlock my Mini's bootloader this weekend. After reading this post, I decided to act later until the root cause has been figured out.

Several people myself included have been able to use tuliptool to successfully unlock and root the device.
mine is hard bricked too. but I think it is worse than the case listed on the op.
if you want to hard bricked these are the steps:
follow the procedure to install the Spanish ROM 6.1, than another android m b12, than finally the android seven......use tulip tool and install twpr fine, root ect. amazing ROM.......buuuuut......I lost my IMEI somewhere in this process, and the original FTM which had a small menu changes to another static one, without the menu.
I needed this menu to open the com port to fix the IMEI. than I had the brilliant idea to re-flash android M via twrp (without modifying the zip file to remove the recovery, something I knew so well from the older axon mini).
results:
-lost twpr because the stock ROM wrote over it,
-cannot boot the OS because I flashed android m but the phone had the aboot 7.
-i now have a brick
I need a genious to sujest something to bring it back to life........sh....t...sh...t.....sh...t
any chances I could inject aboot7 via ADB through my dead recovery which somehow the phone recognises? ADB shell still seems to be working
thanks

How install a custom rom on sony Xperia Z

Hi,
Can you help me for the best solution for my xperia Z in this time (12/2018)
I have original firmware 10.7.A0.228 OS Android 5.1.1 (with king root active) but no TWRP installed. (boot recovery loocked)
I can't boot on a recovery boot for install a custom rom
Thanks you
Dude, check your bootloader. If your bootloader is locked, then you have to unlock it. Don't forget to backup your TA Partition.
After unlocking bootloader, you can install the latest TWRP.
After installing TWRP, you can install any custom ROM you want.
------------------------------------------
The short explanation above is the way to install custom ROM with unlocked bootloader. If your device bootloader can't be unlocked, the only ROM you can install is the stock-based ROM like PureX Z Premium. And you need a different way to install recovery. One of it is the XZDual Recovery.
The rest, you have to find it yourself. Good luck.

What? The service menu may be missing.
You can try to hard reset your device, or make a clean install of the stock ROM (I know, it's a pain in the ass). If this method result nothing, then I dunno what to say, sorry. [Beware, this method could erase all of your data. Only proceed if you have nothing important].
Custom ROM with everything work? I think there is none. But I prefer LOS 14.1 over the 15.1.

[Free method] Bootloader unlock + TWRP + ROOT

Hi, sharing this method. Never pay for another service again! No unlock code required. :good:
Bootloader unlock:
1. Make a backup (optional)
2. Downgrade to 5.0 lollipop official rom via UPDATE.APP files (First file that allows downgrade then full 5.0 rom)
3. Use Kingroot 4.62 apk to root (bootloader is unlocked in the process)
4. Reboot to bootloader with adb - OEM status is locked for the first time
5. Reboot device
6. Reboot to bootloader with adb - Success: OEM status is now unlocked
TWRP:
1. Flash TWRP with TWRP official app
2. Boot into TWRP
ROOT:
1. Flash supersu or magisk zip
2. Reboot
Hello,
Thanks a lot for this thread! I will give it a shot, I have some questions though.
I'm wanting to recover some pictures I accidentally deleted but I need root to do so.
My question is if this method will totally wipe my phone or not, because if I have to wipe everything, that would make it harder for me to recover the pictures (I think?)
Thanks anyways for this very useful post, and thanks in advance for your answer!
Hi, would like to ask:
After unlock n root in lollipop, if update again to stock rom (emui 4.0.3, android 6.0). Will unlock n root status maintain?
Will bootloader go back locked?
Will phone go back unroot?
Thanks a lot @pate194800 !!!

I gave a good try unlocking the bootloader of my PLKL01, but after downgrading to C432B130 (5.0.2), KingRoot 4.6.2 (is this a typo?) failed to unlock it. The newest version (v5.something) did root it, however it left the bootloader locked.
Which firmware did you root exactly?
Thanks it worked really good. This is the easiest way to root your Honor 7.
