Missing Google Play Movies and Transformers. - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am missing Google Play Movies and Transformers. Is this a region problem? My account is in the US and my CC/billing is in the US, but I originally turned it on while I was here in China. WTF? The app is nowhere to be found, nor is Transformers. Why does this even matter? Am I not allowed to watch my own content overseas or something?
On the Google Play website, it say it is compatible with both my devices and when I browse the Play Store from my Nexus 7, it is listed as Update. I tried installing it to the Nexus 7 from the website, but it never downloads.
So, how do I get back Google Play Movies, Transformers, and other region specific applications?

You need to be using a US VPN to get the free movies.
To get the apps, you need to root and then you can see them with Titanium Backup.

I am on a US VPN.
So what the hell am I supposed to do when I travel? The second you leave the country, your app permanently disappears forcing you to either root the device or constantly factory reset? This is absurd. It doesn't have a SIM card, so how can it be region locked?

The movie is provided by youtube .Try accesing the movie where you are through your youtube account on a computer at http://www.youtube.com/purchases .

[Q] Play Google Movies on CM7

Hi All,
First post on XDA -
Have searched the full forum and google but can't find anyone with this specific issue.
I'm on CM7 in the UK and I've used OTA root keeper and the modified apk from SDX-Developers and can get my rentals to show up in the Google Videos app. Without the modified apk movies didn't show up - the app complained the Kindle was rooted even with OTA running.
When I try to play the Movies by streaming it gives me - Not available in your country -
When I try to download it it gives me - Austin Powers is in an unsupported video format.
Google video purchases work fine on a UK account - was previously able to stream and download with the (unaltered) Videos apk side loaded on my stock Kindle rom.
Anyone else had this - fixed this ?

Available TV Networks

For someone who does not have cable, what kind of content is available right out the box with the Nexus Player? Do networks have apps where I can browse their library?
Looks like there are apps for:
NBC
ABC
CBS
FOX
CW
Though, some of them require sign-in from a TV provider, so you might not get all the features and/or shows. Try them on your current phone or tablet.
Also obviously they'd have to make their app compatible with Android TV, but you could probably always sideload.
Do you mean live TV or on-Demand?

Click to collapse
Besides the pre-installed apps that will be on it, I believe you can simply go to the Nexus Player website in order to get additional apps including ones for t.v. (I can't post links yet due to being new here) Currently they have close to 30 apps and counting, so you should be able to find something useful there, or if not then try checking on individual network sites to see if there's any new info regarding Nexus Player

[Q] Netflix from Australian Play Store with U.S. Account?

recently netflix got added to the australian nexus player play store. i have the u.s. apk installed, and the australian play store recognises i have that apk installed (i can open netflix via the play store).
what i'm wondering is: could i uninstall the sideloaded u.s. apk and install the app from the store, and still use my u.s. account? has anyone here done that? will the sideloaded apk be now updated from the play store and i don't have to do anything? and also, are the apps different based upon region, or is the netflix app the same across all regions and it just recognises your region upon launching?
getting updates from the play store would be a lot more convenient that having to periodically check to see if there has been any updates online.
I am in Canada and i have American Netflix. I just use the normal one from the store. As far as I can tell the app is universal and the servers dole out the content based on your location. So using the store version should be fine.
thanks for the info. if the app doesn't update from the play store, i'll just uninstall my sideloaded apk and install it from the play store.

Does Fire HD 8 works outside USA?

I want to know whether Fire HD 8 will work out of USA or not. I have no idea about Fire OS and Amazon appstore. I just want to use it as a device to surf the internet via browser, to copy my movies from laptop and watch on it, and use apps like facebook, facebook messenger and youtube.
I am afraid if i tell someone from USA to bring it for me here in Nepal and if i wont be able to download these apps, it will be a waste. So kindly suggest me, if i can download apps like facebook, youtube and messenger for free outside USA?
Yes it does
I bought it in the USA and use it in Mexico. Best tablet for the price. I can get apps from the amazon appstore, they have a whole section of "actually free" apps. If you cant find an app in the amazon appstore, Google Chrome Browser for example, you can install the Google play store even without root. Fire OS is actually Android with a customized layer in top. The only things that don't work are the amazon services, like prime video, and prime music. Kindle unlimited book reading (paid subscription) does work.

HOWTO Access ENTIRE GOOGLE PLAY Store on Amazon Fire TV / Fire TV Stick 4k

Hey guys, Came across a great APK which allows you to access the entire playstore on your Android TV.
Yalp Store uses the same (protobuf) API the android Play Store app uses. It downloads apks directly from Google servers.
By default Yalp Store connects to Google services using a built-in account, so you do not have to own a Google account to use it. The only reason to use a live Google account is to access the paid apps you own.
Each time you log in a new Google Services Framework id (also known as device id) is generated using your device parameters.
For us to access all the apps all we need to do is spoof our device ID with another handset (Nexus / Pixel / Samsung tab etc).
You can see a demo of me installing the full version of Google Chrome and also Youtube TV direct on my 4K firestick
Do other apps see this as Play Services also? I have an app that apparently requires Google play services, and it seems that the other method for putting that on the Fire TV 4k is not working anymore.
That's not YouTube TV you are installing. That's YouTube for Android TV. It's just regular Youtube, and not the live TV and DVR version of YouTube TV.
stuck on "check Yalp Store Credential" and no way tonuse mine... sorry...
