Nexus 7 boots and shutdown - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Nexus is now unuseable. 2 nights ago I had it plugged in all night and it did not charge. Last night it charged. However, now it boots comes up to the homescreen and shutsdown. Other weird things have happened like seeing speckles on the screen and last night the screen was unresponsive.. I can't get it to boot in safe mode because it shuts down before I can bring up the safe mode screen. After it shuts down I can't do anything with it. About 5 minutes later the charging indicator appears and I can reboot again. I had charging problems before. Google was supposed to send me another charger but never did. I rooted and unlocked it. Now I may be stuck with a broken tablet? Any suggestions? Google is closed on Sunday. Thanks.

Sounds like a hardware issue, possibly with the GPU on the Tegra 3 chip, although I could be wrong.
In any case, I would recommend waiting till tomorrow and contact Google.
Did you do anything with your tablet like flashing a custom ROM or anything like that?

charge with ur phone charger for an hour and see.

Problem solved???
OK it looks like I solved it. The charger is BROKEN and not providing any power to the tablet. When the tablet booted up to the homescreen, there was not enough charge in the battery to sustain it so it shut down. Fortunately, I bought a very nice blackberry charger on Ebay and now that the tablet is plaugged into it, the tablet is working. THANKS for your concern guys. I will be calling Google to have them send the charger they promised me.
THANKS!

have you ever gotten any asus products as you know asus are half baked there useless ill just sell it

Sleep of Death hard brick

I've been running Revolver 4 beta for a few weeks, and experiencing the random reboot/sleep of death that ICS seems to bring. It's obnoxious, but I can live with it.
Today, though, I got home from work, and the thing will not boot at all. I mean, nothing. No Asus logo, no recovery, no screen on at all.
I have a replacement plan from Best Buy, so I'm probably just going to get it replaced tomorrow, but I'm curious if I'm the only one to have this issue.
Also, I imagine that short of replacing it, I'm boned, right?
Edit: I'm a complete moron. My charger is plugged in behind the couch, and apparently came unplugged sometime over the past few days. I apologize. Please laugh at me, and delete this thread, if possible.

Try connecting to the usb port on PC and let it sit 8-10 hrs off. It may have woken up and run down the battery. If the bat is too low the standard charger will not charge it. Getting the bat level up a little may let it charge again.

Bootloop need to RMA

Hi,
I have ASUS Transfer I've treated a like a baby. I'll root my galaxy nexus and put 3 ROMs on it a day, and have dropped it a dozen times, once into the bathtub and last weekend when I camping it started to rain while I was asleep. The damn thing got waterlogged. I was able to dry it out on my defogger and had it working again within a couple days.
The transformer I rooted once, but I got some strange error after about a week every time I tried to install anything, so I decided to just frig with my phone and let my tablet be. Then they forced ICS down my throat and it was draining the battry so bad I left it connected to the charger, which got bent because I was using it all the time plugged in and occasionally forgot how short that cord is. I bought a USB extendor but it was too late, that stupid cable was already coming apart.
Anyway, it will no longer connect to the computer, and that was alright, I had FTP. I was going to order a replacement cable, it was getting dicey whether it would even charge or not. In fact, I called someone on Amazon yesteday that a reasonable price.
And then last night, I plugged it in and it made an electical buzzing sound while it was charging. I didn't really pay much notice because I have a power inverter and it was not drawing any more than usual. The next reboot though all it's doing is flashing the ASUS screen and then powering off and then deciding to power on again and repeat x1000.
I have an RMA # and I don't want the battery to be flat dead when I send it in or I'll get back a repaired tablet with a battery that will last half the time of this one. LiIon's hate being discharged and left dead.
Is there anything I can try besides the factory reset thing? I let this thing update itself back to stock firmware and lost root and never did put a custom recovery on it.
Failing that, does anyone know how to get this thing to just power off and stop trying to load. 1000 times is quite enough. I feel sick about this because I love the damn thing and this like watching a cancer patent wheeze.
Thank you.
May it rest in peace
If there's no USB, or anything and it's stuck, you just need to let the battery die :/
Your kidding right? Let it dieeeeeee
Make sure in the RMA notes you ask for a new battery too, Sorry, there's nothing you can do without USB and with a bootlooper Dx Unless you open it, which = void warranty anyway.

The end of a G8 101IT

After a few years of good experiences, the last couple of weeks my Archos 10.1IT is having problems. A re-install of everything did not cure. Apparent problem are the device not going to sleep (the screen switches off but the device keeps active), and the USB host port no longer working. Well, sleep and host port works immedeately after a reboot, but stops after having slept once. This happens with stock Android, and with UrukDroid.
Yesterday I switched it on at charge level 80% and within minutes it dropped to 10%. Then the device froze, and I notices that it had become very hot. I could not switch it off (long press of the power switch had no effect) so I put it outside just in case it would catch fire.
That didn't happen. I tried to recharge it but the behaviour didn't change: Immedeately after booting up it starts discharging fast. Peculiar is that although I switched it to ariplane mode, WiFi is still the biggest consumer of energy (36%). Also peculiar is that although the battery feels hot, battery snap reports the temperature at 23.0 (which is the normal temperature during operation).
Something is severely wrong. I think this is the end of this tablet.
Goodbye
After some attempts to get it back to life, deep discharge, recharge and so on, I consider the device dead.
If anyone is interested in the remains (the unit's okay, just the battery is broken) drop me a note.
Goodbye to y'all -- it was fun.
I ordered a Samsung Galaxy Note for replacement.
Never say never...
Just for fun I investigated at the company I bought it, and they informed me that I had a two year warranty (I expected just one year). This means that I still can send it back for repair.
To prepair the device for reparation I wiped it (reset Android and data). To my surprise it is now charging again and seems to function normally (except for the deep sleep and host port). Strange...
FYI: The Samsung Note 10.1 is nice and fast, but very bloated. And you need all kinds of extra connectors and cables to connect it to the charger, USB devices and HDMI.
Finally
Today I went to the shop with the broken Archos. They were very sorry to inform me that they didn't sell Archos anymore, and couldn't repair it. All they could do was give me a refund.
So I received €159,95 refund after 20 months for a device that was €229,00 when I bought it.
Still I think I gonna miss it...
new batteries

There are 2 batteries inside the Archos 101, and it is very easy to replace. Will you try ?
Those batteries are very simple. You can get it thru the mail order.

[Q] Nexus 4 Bricked?

So, my nexus has been good to me since I've owned it (2 years and counting), however recently (about two weeks ago) my nexus randomly died in the morning, while I was using it. At first I thought it was a simple crash as I was running Hells Doctor with TARDIS Mod, yet when I plugged my phone back in, I was greeted by a solid red light!
Fast forward a week I received a battery to serve as a replacement, as I thought it was the red light of death, yet after I finished installing the battery I hurried to go charge my phone back up, only to be greeted by the same solid red light.
Move up about three days, I asked my friend for his Qi Charger, as I then thought the charging port was damaged, left it overnight charging on the Qi Charger only to be greeted by once again the same solid red light in the morning.
Now I'm at present time of posting this, I'm starting to worry that my phone has had a hard brick, so I planned on going into download mode and doing a hard reset, but both my computers were not able to recognize my phone in download mode, nor did I ever get the download screen on the nexus itself.
I'm beginning to lose hope! I've tried all button combinations, tried 'jump starting' my battery, now I'm resorting to this.
Any other ideas? Or is it time to part ways with my beloved nexus?
What if it's a problem with your display connector ?

I've not thought of that, but if it is, then the price would be too steep for me

Have you got a friend or person you know who has a S5?
The first thing I'd do is see if the battery is shot, which I think is more likely the case.
A similar thing happened to my 2 year old S4 (with a battery that wasn't in the recall batch) where the phone would just charge to 100%, died after a minute or two, than takes 2 hours just to go to the charging screen saying 0% charge.

nah the batterys fine my mother has an s5, albeit stock unrooted and all that jazz and it goes fine in her phone
she actually uses my battery as a spare
EDIT: when i plug it in i can see the led flickering red very faintly
it also heats up rather fast to temps that i would consider not safe for a phone
