Anyone have Orbot working? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have tried to get get Orbot working with the Nexus 7, but haven't been able to get it to work on several ROM, kernel, and and browser combinations.
It says that proxy rules were not enabled and a check of the website says that I am not configured for Tor. Any ideas?

There's a setting to use the device's built-in iptables ("Use Default Iptables" near the bottom), check the box and it should work just fine.

You da man, that worked.
Thanks!

Bit more info may help. What ROM are you using? Are you on wifi or not? Have you tried alternative browsers, etc?

Cannot access XDA forums from TF

A couple of days after installing Tapatalk 2 on my TF I stopped having access to the XDA forums from my TF. Prior to this problem I was able to browse the forums (stock browser) and access from Tapatalk. Now I can use neither.
Other machines on my network can access the forums. My SGS can access the forums using either a browser or Tapatalk.
Tethering my TF to my SGS did not help. Same results: "webpage not available" in browser, "failed to connect to furum" in Tapatalk.
I can access other forums in both the browser and Tapatalk on the TF. It's only the XDA forums that's giving me errors.
I uninstalled Tapatalk but browser was still giving error (webpage not available). Reinstalling Tapatalk did not help.
I looked at the hosts file but there are no entries there (except for localhost).
My linux command line knowledge is limited but I tried nslookup and host commands (using terminal), with all results fail (including other web sites) so I must be doing something wrong.
I have not tried rebooting yet as my uptime since the last RR/SOD on .24 is 304 hrs (the longest I have ever had on ICS) and I want to see how far I can get before my next RR.
Any ideas?
EDIT:
I can access www.xda-developers.com using the browser but not furum.xda-developers.com
Also: when I tested tethering I was using my SGS 3G connection (obviously) so it eliminates a network issue.
That's a strange one... Do you have any kind of ad-blocking software installed?
I don't think it's Tapatalk as I use it normally, but I'm replying now from the browser without any issues. Tried for stock browser and Dolphin- both worked fine.

No ad-blocking software installed, stock .24, not rooted, no tweaks. All standard stuff.
An update:
The bad news: I had RR an hour ago.
The good news: the reboot fixed the problem... I can now access the forums using both Tapatalk and the stock browser.

Samba Filesharing app

Has anyone gotten this to work on their N7? I can't seem to connect.

Works like a charm on mine. Might recheck all your network settings in samba.

Can you specify which settings you're referring to?
Nevermind...after I rebooted my comp, it's working now. Still says "Enabled - not running" but I'm able to connect.

Download files from home PC

It's great that I can use something like Teamviewer or Connectbot to connect to my home PC and download a file (onto the PC) remotely, from anywhere in the world using my fast and (practically) unlimited home broadband.
What I'd like to then do is download that file onto my Nexus 7. And occasionally upload files. However, neither Connectbot nor Android Terminal Emulator have scp built in and, while Teamviewer claim that their latest version has the ability to transfer files, it hasn't appeared on the Play Store yet.
Does anyone know of any other relatively simple solution to this problem? By simple I mean that I don't want to set up the PC as an ftp server. The home PC runs Kubuntu 12.04, by the way.

I've been using ES for a couple of years now, including accessing other nodes on my network with Samba shares. How, precisely, will ES be useful in the above scenario?

Airdroid?
AirDroid won't work over the Internet, only on a local LAN. Or, at least, it won't work from the free WiFi access points that I use.

I've been using AirDroid for a while now. I've never used it via LAN, always via WIFI.

Thanks for the suggestion. There are surprisingly few. But now I've had time to check them out I've found VX Connectbot which adds file upload and download plus other features to the original Connectbot.

I know this is an old thread, but did you ever figure out how to use SCP on VX Connectbot? It's surprisingly not documented well on the Net, on its homepage or on Github. This thread came up on Page 2 of a Google search!
No, I didn't get that far. I found that TeamViewer fitted my specific use case.

I could use help with this also, I'm not having any luck either.
Found another thread where setting to generic ICS/JB wlan0 worked for that user but no luck on my end.
If anyone has WiFi Tether successfully running on Rooted Razr M and would be willing to share their setup/settings, it would be really appreciated.
Thanks!
I have been trying to get this working for my lil bro but so many variables....I will play around with generic jb setting and see...

What are your other settings? I.E., Setup Method, Send NetID Max Client command, routing fix, mss clamping, etc.
If you'd be willing to post the other settings that would be great - thanks!

Okay I did the same settings and it works now, however, best I can tell it's operating in "Ad-Hoc" mode.
Does anyone know how to get it to work in "Infrastructure Mode?"

I ended up doing the entitlement check hack and using the native hotspot app.
Seems to be working just fine.
I was only able to get WiFi Tether to work in Ad-Hoc mode and couldn't reliably connect other devices to it that way...
I did the entitlement to but no go? maybe cause I'm using mines with gsm. idk
