I am wanting to root my evo shift but am having troubles. I have tried the tutorial involving the use of the evo 3d unlocker but get an error when the htcdev site is trying to generate the unlock binary for the boot loader. I have also tried other ways of rooting to no avail. Most have broken links to all of the files that are needed. Any help out advice is much appreciated.

Do a youtube search for: Root Evo Shift 2.3.3 and Higher
I would put the link but I don't have enough posts. The files are in the video description. Easy to follow.

Once your Rooted you will have many more options as to what to do with your Device. It really does change how you use your Device .

Hello, I am not rooted and know nothing about clockworkmod. (I have tried rooting numerous times but no success. I'm thinking drivers) I would like to know if its possible to flash it with my epic being stock? I have searched and have turned no results about flashing it from stock. Everything refers to rooted. Yes I downloaded samsung galaxy s drivers from here when I tried to root. Never for them to work even with 2 fresh installs. Thanks for the info on the z4root, by far the easiest and fastest way I've ever rooted before. But ya I have samsung drivers.

I am afraid I won't be any help there. I haven't flashed clockwork yet because I am not sure how easy it is to remove (noob) so I am waiting until Froyo releases. Unless I can't find an easy method to install it and uninstall it.

You have to install clockwork through the one click method. Also you must install samung drivers for your computer first. Then u may choose a rom 2.1 or 2.2 and flash through clockwork.

Go read the Sticky Wiki. There is a way to do it without a pc. But since you are lazy and obviously can't really do crap. Here is the link to what you need.

Tried the hex editing option on this but it didn't work...
Perhaps its time to flash it with an unlocked 2.2 ROM? Could anyone link me to the one i would need for this device?
I was also recently looking for ways to unlock my Apollo as I just moved to the USA and couldn't find anything helpful. So I ponied up £20-odd and bought the unlock code from Orange. It wasn't worth the hassle to me. Good luck.

I think those resources would be better used finding a way to revert back to previous updates on locked bootloaders (say, the one before Moto patched the method) than to device a completely new method.

If you're bootloader is locked and you accept the initial 4.1.2 update, then using RSD will brick your device.
I have an idea. Could one "push an OTA" that would essentially install an "upgrade" to 4.1.1. If I knew anything about coding, that would be the direction I would head for. I'm decent at ladder logic, but don't know a darn thing about Linux or Java.

Signatures.. That's the only issue.. The packages must be signed with moto's signatures.. Only then will you be able to flash it.. Everything if you manage to do that, there is no guarantee..
