Some apps like SNES9x allow scanning for a Wii controller via bluetooth. I just tried it with the Note and it works without a hitch. I believe all the NES.emu series of emulators on the play store work with the Wii controller this way.

I remember I had some lag with ShadowGun on my TF700.
I am convinced now that I made the right choice returning it for the Note.
Thank you for posting this.

anyone tired chainfire on the note yet?

I just tried a wired Xbox controller plugged into the Note 10.1 via a USB Adapter, with Dead Trigger, Didn't work, and i'm rooted , this combo worked well on my Prime and Infinity, I'm sure there's some kind of work around

How did you get sixaxis to work, I installed the app, paired with my controller, but when I launch the game it doesn't work, anything special I need to do, I'm rooted of course, thanks

With a lot of games you have to map the keys yourself to get the game to work with the controller, no game loft games work without changing the key mapping.
You can find sixaxis maps scattered throughout Google but they're normally for phones but if you download the key maps for the games then go to preferences and change the background, after you've taken a screenshot of the game on the 10.1 you can reposition the keys to your screenshot.
Look for maps by searching for nova 3.map and so on, there's a whole post with maps for the galaxy s3 on xda, just reposition the keys to play on tablet

No spinning here using an original wired 360 controller (yes, the exact one that came with my pre-ordered 360 back in 2005 lol)
Its kind of funny to mention though. I got spinning in Nova 2 the first time i tried to play it. Once I disabled sensor rotation, it was fine. Which reminds me, in 9mm, i recall a similar issue where the camera always wanted to look up no matter how i was holding the tab. Seems to be a common problem

Working perfectly with my PS3 controller, this game is really fun and looks fantastic!
No spinning screen bought the newer wired black style i haven't tried with my wireless with charging cord but that wasn't compatible with a lot of Linux distros so i doubt for it will 4 our nice little tab.

There is a program for controllers avaliable in the market that gives tablets driver support for most popular controllers including the wireless xbox360 controller. Maybe that would solve the spinning problem, which I too encountered. If you do try it, please let us know the results. If I remember the name of the program I will post it.

Ps3 controller

Any using one with gameloft Games like nova or 9mm?
Thanks

Those games don't support controller functions. (I tried)
You need the sixaxis app from the market. it takes a lot of work with the screen tap emulation to get it just right, but it is well worth it. I play modern combat 3 with my ps3 controller, so it should work on anything.
Ya I have been screwing with sixaxis and a Sony branded ps3 bt controller. Finally got my own used one. Paired it up and with some touch mapping I can play gta very well. And about 9mm and Nova I'm still testing profiles for each but was able to play both with my controller. Just tested a few basic functions like anolog stick left and right and some other controls. Hows MC3 I'd like to try it. So far I'm fully set for gta and am working on 9mm and nova2 mappings, and I'm going to map air attack HD, madden 12 (if do able), NFS shift, and NFS hotpursuit, would like to do mc3 as well. Waiting to find the perfect settings for the buttons...

Not really hard at all. I did airattack HD last night and the tricky part was setting it to relative touch and getting the anolog button sensetivity right. For gta I noticed it worked without touch profile but it wasn't controlling right so I did one anyway. I have started on 9mm and Nova. Should be done with those Tonight after work.

Ok, I don't own a PS3 gaming console, so I have a stupid question.
Do I just need to go to the store and buy a bluetooth PS3 controler, or is there a off brand one that works well also?
Thanks!
EDIT: something like this I suppose... http://www.google.com/products/cata...a=X&ei=IpcUT5zUM8HgsQKFs4DsAw&ved=0CHgQ8wIwBA
Pretty sure off brand ones will work but I know from experience the Sony sixaxis works great. Used ones can be bought on ebay for around 25 bucks... or go New.
Sent from my A500 flexstriker using XDA Premium
Will do. Thanks.
Off brand ones don't always work with sixaxis, might not work with gta. I bought and returned one before getting the official ps3 one. The legit ps3 controller works great wired without sixaxis, or wireless with sixaxis. Also, the ps3 keyboard works greas as a wireless keyboard and mouse.

Looks like the only "for sure" is to get the controller with the Sony name on it. Quick question for those that run this setup. The Dual Shock controller has the "rumble" does that work with the tablet setup? If not, I would hope to find one without the dual shock to save a little cash. Seems like writing the program to use the rumble would be a lot of unnecessary work.

The PS3 controller will connect via BT to the Note.. however
a) you must root the N7000
b) download the paid app "sixaxis"
c) manually pair the controller to your N7000 using a PC
d) setup a key map profile in the sixaxis app for each game...this bit isnt easy.
This would have been a great thread if someone would have a) stated the above and b) provided the key map..
Q) Why use the N7000 for games?..
A) Because you can
yeah it's cool

As the CPUs/GPUs get better on mobile devices, why wouldn't want to play games outputted onto a big screen TV? I mean we are already carrying mini-computers in our pockets already which do many things that full size computers do: email, browsing, office productivity, communications, etc.
I love playing games on my Note but replace my XBOX 360? haha
Its not even remotely close to that yet but for mobile gaming this cant be beat.

Recommended Gamepad for Nexus 7

Can anyone recommend a good Bluetooth gamepad for the Nexus 7. I saw that the PS3 is supported, although I don't have a controller right now, and I think they are top end in terms of cost ?
I assume that you also need to download some software from Google Play to manage the gamepad, I dont think that Android has native support. I am aware of Sixasis controller, however is there are good free software instead ?
Also is root a mandatory requirement for the software to control the gamepad.
Cheers
I don't have any other advice for you, but I have to say I have a sixaxis controller and the program "sixaxis controller" from the play store. It works so well I haven't considered anything else. As for cost, check out local pawn shops for the controller might get one cheap. Playing dead trigger with the ps3 controller is much better than using the touch screen.
Sorry I didn't have any additional information. Also yes, root is required for sixaxis.
Agree, I bit the bullet and bought a ps3 dualshock3 sixaxis and the sixaxis app, well worth it.... Just becareful with the cheaper ones available on ebay as there are alot of fakes that don't work with sixaxis....
there's a good thread on here with some games already having profiles for them as well if you haven't already seen it:

I must figure out how to get MAME setup, I think that would be lots of fun with a PS3 controller and a Nexus 7 which is what I will buy. Thanks
One controller that I heard is good (although I havent tried first hand) is the icontrolpad ( http://www.icontrolpad.com ). Apparently they are bluetooth controllers so they will be able to work with the N7 or any device that has bluetooth capabilities. It is a pretty steep price to bite the bullet on though.
Thanks for the link. I noticed that the iControlPad says that it's compatible with many emulators.
Is the PS3 controler with sixaxis compatible with MAME and other emulators ?
Maybe it's me, but the iControlPad gamepad does'nt have an asthetically pleasing design
I'm about to load mame on mine, I'll let you know how I get on

+1 for the PS3 controller, it just works so well with the six axis software. I'm not 100% sure but I think the reason for root access is that part of the pairing process is to connect the controller to the N7 via a USB cable in order to set the Bluetooth address as required. You can also do this via a pc if you don't have an otg cable.
An XBox360 controller connected wired with an OTG cable works perfectly without apps. But I have to agree that sixaxis with a ps3 pad is perfect.

Yes, but your N7 still needs to be rooted and that you are running the sixaxis Bluetooth app (your device is actively charging the controller) in the background. The 360 controller is plug and play compatible.

I've only used PSX, PS2, and original Xbox controllers so far (yes, original Xbox, great for N64 emulation, just cut off the tip and splice a regular USB cable on) and they all worked, but the Xbox controller sadly had major input lag (like 4 full seconds).

You might not be interested in buying another, separate, controller; but, of you don't mind, the Moga Pro controller is fantastic. It has a very premium feel to it, and very much so reminds me of a Xbox 360 controller. Its compatible with all of the major apps. Plus, the ones that it isn't compatible with, you can set up for yourself.
They also have fantastic customer support. I picked up my Flo on launch day. The Moga Pivot application wasn't running, so I emailed them. Within two days they had sent out an update and thanked me for letting them know. Also, its fully wireless. So none if that OTG stuff, and you can use it on your phone.

The OEM ps3 using Bluetooth? And with what app?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
I would recommend a PS3 controller. It has been the best controller I've ever used on Android. I have been through them all. I have a Moga Original, and its great for on the go but lacks a D-Pad. I have an Ouya controller, but it's clunky D-Pad is similar to the 360's. WiiMotes (which don't work currently) are great but lacks the button count to play anything other then NES emulators. The Moga, Ouya, 360, WiiMote, and PS3 all have good battery life. Other controllers typically suck the juice and have bad button feedback or otherwise cheaply made. Don't waste your money on anything other then the above noted.
The PS3 has a great DPad and quality. Batteries last a long time, buttons feel great, response time is flawless, connects directly to the Tablet (no dongle like 360).
The Moga is iffy. Seems to be effected with delayed response when using the Moga Pairing app, which is required for the second analog support and for launching games so they pick up on the controls. Controls aren't bad but if you play something like Mario or Sonic, you'll feel the controls are slightly "off". Still a great controller for on-the-go. I haven't tried the Moga on the new N7 yet, they may have fixed this lag.
The PS3 controller is also probably one of the cheaper controllers you can find. I picked up a White PS3 DualShock from Gamestop for $29 new. The PS3 also has the greatest amount of support. It plays reliably across all of my devices, where the others are hit and miss.
The app required is the SixAxis Pairing app from the Play Store. Some custom roms build in this driver and the controller can connect natively, but for the most part, you would use the app. Benefits of the app also include the ability to map buttons to touchscreen overlay controls for games that do not support gamepads.

Out of curiosity, are you talking about the MOGA Pocket or the MOGA Pro? I own the latter and have never had too much trouble with the device in HIG mode (the MOGA app itself though was something of another level of horror).

Using this app: Sixaxis Controller
Note: You must be rooted and use a PC to change the pairing address of the controller to that of your Nexus 7. They provide a free PC utility to do that.
