For those that haven't noticed, the latest version of Google Maps (6.10.0) now has a fully working compass mode. It also fixes the "spinning compass" issue seen on CM9/CM10 ROMs.
Yay!

Whenever im using Layer and wish to launch Google Maps, the maps application force closes. Have tried reinstalling both Layar and Google Maps with no luck. Is this just a possible compatibility error or am i missing something?
Thanks
It's worse.
Later has disappeared from the Market!
Layar still shows up on the UK Market. Just downloaded a minor update this morning
Why doesn't it show on the Dutch Market.
It's a Dutch app!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is a little strange. If you still have problems (and a twitter account) get in touch with http://twitter.com/Rhymo He's the CEO of Layar, and tends to reply to you fairly quickly.
I'm currently using Google Maps Navigation (Beta) version and I really like how it works. However, the program doesn't seem to be as stable as it should be. At times it works and other it would just say "Searching for GPS". Has anyone encounter this issue before? What can i do to fix it? Since it's a Beta version, is there like an update for it? Or could you please recommend other GPS program that is as good as this one?
Please let me know. Thanks
I'm currently running HTC HD2 with;
Chucky ROM
Matt Leo Froyo Sense 1.8
Hastarin Kernel 7.1
2.12 radio
Search on how to edit your gps.conf and get gps status, it enables you to download satellite positions for a quicker fix like quick gps enables you to on windows, it's all here in this sub forum
After doing this myself I can get a fix in mere seconds, works really well!
gps.conf only sets timeservers. It can't alter the lock time. But there is a market app called Gps Status that will. It can download GPS assistance data, which locates your satellites. Lock is almost instant after you do that. There's a thread on it somewhere (search)
I think I found a bug in the latest version CM7 with combination the latest version of Google maps.
When I go on google maps, the sensors of the device (accelerometer) freeze until i restart the device.
Other GPS aplications work fine (e.g NDRIVE).
Anyone confirm?
Correction:
Only happens in google latitude
Same situation for me!

Hi!
With tytungs newest rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434860)
everything runs really smooth, fast and very stable.
Nevertheless I have two bugs found:
1. Google Maps Navigation - pinch to zoom works, but not rotation.
2. Google Earth - same - no rotation.
Has anybody same probs and got it already fixed.
Or are there user outside, where Earth and Maps just work?
Thanks!

Im using Aurora (Ive tried on 3.1u5 and 2.04) and the compass mode in google maps seems to not work.
The compass itself works though. I got smart compass from the market and it points in the right direction. Anyone has ever had working compass mode with Aurora? Is this a problem with the ROM or Maps itself?
This is ICS AOSP problem. Compass mode works in older verzion of maps, not sure which. Maybe 5.x.
