Has anybody seen an error screen with Andy laying down and broken with lightning coming out of him? Also with a red warning triangle?
My coworker had her Nexus 7 plugged into her computer to charge and she said this screen came up. She went to using a wall charger, and there's no problem. She's not tech savvy and I wasn't around to witness it, so I don't know if these details are correct, but I couldn't find any info on it via searching Google or XDA.
That's the stock recovery mode screen. Not sure how you'd get to that unless the phone crashed and you somehow got into bootloader and launched recovery though....
Do you have an image, so that I can confirm with her that's what it is? Maybe she was pushing random buttons and somehow got into it... I really don't know.
Something like this?

Just tell her to hold the power button for about ten seconds and it will turn off and turn on again. I've used that method about three times already. Hope this helps

Please could you explain your problem, 'Complete brick' isn't going to get you anywhere is it
I agree with effortless ^^^
Edit:
I agree with bs828 as well vvv
maybe he means cant turn on. no download mode, no emergency mode no nothing like what happened to me
take the case apart inside where the sd connects to the main board there are two batteries remove the board holding them leave the whole thing disassembled over night
next put it back together and plug in usb
leaving it over night has erased all its memory and the computer can see a device doesnt know what it is but its there
now reboot (pul out usb and bat)
plug back in as soon as you see it reading the device quickly catch it and run the kdz
after kdz is complete there is a boot bug (atleast when i went through this) so no screen untill completly loaded
once this is done look at fishears tutorial on how to fix the boot bug issue
hope this helps it worked for me and if its bricked what have you got to loose atleast thats what i had to keep in mind as i ripped my mates apart
also good chance to clean contacts etc

Sure can. I am having the same issue. At times, my tab will not turn on without charging for a while. It appears as though the power button is broken but it is not. Today I had the same issue so I plugged it in for 5 minutes. When it turned on, I had a 97% charge. Only happens after deep sleep reboot.
Wow, thats what the first post said? lol
I'm purty sure I read a fix for this. Do a search, I believe you have to uncheck sleep something and recheck it

The tablet was soaked after being in a bag with a leaky bottle. This happend a few months ago and I just had time to take a look at it.
The screen is just white. I can connect it to a TV using HDMI and the touch screen works to operate it. Bluetooth keyboard/mouse, GPS and WiFi work too. Battery chargers and holds a normal charge. Any ideas what would need to be replaced to fix this?
I guess I can sell it to someone who has a broken touch screen or something, or use it as a tv box, but I don't really have a use for that.
Thanks

Dear XDA'ers
I dropped my Nxus 7 on the pavement today, it was really a low drop and the touchscreen is partially responsive. (The upper part where I can choose the option to reboot and turn it off still works). I can't get it off the locker as that part is unresponsive.
Is this fixable? Can I buy a replacement screen or anyting. I just got it since the 12th, of october and I'm feeling really emotional now because it just happened. Could anyone ensure me at least everything's gonna be fine and it's fixable?

Nexus 7 screen come as a package lcd+glass together and go for around $170.
It might be worth it just getting a new one and selling/keeping this one for parts

I don't think you looked at the picture....
OP I would say do what someone else said, sell it for parts and buy a new one. With a device this cheap there's no point in trying to repair it unless it's an easy/cheap fix.

Ye, I guess that just buying a new one would be the best solution for now.
Problem is really, that I don't earn €250, while this does cost me that much after a week. Plus I now have like €30 of printing costs since I need to print all my pdf's out to study for the exam (which I used my nexus for).
Maybe later I can make someone else happy with it if the replacement screens come cheaper. Does anyone know how to shut the nexus down? When I press the button down until it shuts, it will just reboot. Some fastboot command or anything?
(The part where it says "OK" for shutdown is unresponsive unfortunately)
Keep power + volume up + volume down pressed all at same time for a while, it will reboot into bootloader. Use volume down to select "Power Off" option, press power button and that way you can power off.
Download the Geeksquad app. I watched him run the test in front of me.
It showed a horizontal dead spot one the upper portion of my screen.
I hate to say this guys, but the employees were aware of the problem and told me that they believe it is a hardware problem.
Don't shoot the messenger - It's what I was told.
They took it back outside of the 15 day return window and issued me a full store credit.
I'll wait and see how people like the new LG G Pad.
Good luck!!

Thanks for the apk. I just ran the test and all it let's me do is test 5 areas of the screen and multi touch in top third. Am I missing something because I don't see a full screen test.
Same here.

Sorry guys, been at work.
Turn the tablet horizontal and try to drag the screen all the way to the right upwards.....Mine did nothing...
The manager even came and checked it out.....then gave me the nod - YES!!!
I have just completed the touch screen fix and it worked! I also could not complete the Greek squad test holding it horizontally. I had ghost touches, dragging issues and now my touch screen works flawlessly.

Maybe it is software..... I have no idea, just the opinion of Best Buy employees.
I hope they fix it, I'll still never buy anything from Google or ASUS - terrible service.
They ran from the problem.
If you don't have any daily issues I recommend to not try this app, I don't have any issues overall with my n7 and don't want them either.
