This way will not work in this case. As he flashed Chinese eclair (JORDN_U3_97.21.51) with BL5, he has no way back to froyo, which is BL4

[Q] DX stuck in stock bootloader/recover? HELP!!!!!

I was running the Fission 2.4.3 rom and it was having some problems because I read that it was because I was running on 2.2.1 kernel and I downloaded 2.3.340 Kernel Updater (2.6.32.9-g55626e1) and BP_C_1.09.07P Baseband Updater (also known as your radio file) from http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/...ystem-baseband-2-3-340-kernel-bootloader.html then I installed both of those, now when I boot up to the Bootloader 30.03, it says, err:A5,70,00,00,23 Battery OK OK to Program Connect USB Data Cable. The phone also lets me boot in to the stock recovery by pressing Power and Home. Please help me I need help and I cant figure it out.
You should be on Bootloader 30.04. I would suggest grabbing the full .320 SBF, and the system-only .340 SBF, then flashing them both in order. After flashing them both go into the Motorola recovery and do a factory reset.

How do I do the SBF thing if I can only get in to the Bootloader 30.03 screen and the stock recovery screen. I have the clockwork recovery installed but i cant get to it. HELP
SBF is done from the bootloader menu you are already in. This link will help you with the process. If you are still on the original Froyo OTA, you will need the .320 Full SBF, and the .340 System-Only SBF. I cannot provide links to them due to a C&D notice, but they are not hard to find using Google.

[Q] Defy problem ( kind of bricked )

So, my defy had had Cm7 with android 2.3.7 installed. I don`t know what i did but i installed android 2.1 ( update 1 ) on it ( ) i know ... this is bad ).
Right now, i can`t install any android above 2.1.1 even though i read on the forum about simillar situations like mine.
This evening, something happened and my defy won`t boot up... enters into an continous loops and stays right there . Don`t know what to do ... i just want to install CM7 again ...
Any suggestions ? What should i do ...
If i try to flash android 2.2.1 or 2.2.2 the phone stops at the motorola red logo ... i can`t make hard reset ... nor wipe data/cache from the bootmenu ( the phone is restarting )...
I neeeeddd heeelpppp !
Oh ... and if i install this -http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1093352 - or any other sbf it won`t boot
It works only with JORDN_U3_97.21.51
Keep the one work and start from there, full wipe and flash 2.2.2.
Can you give me a link with that 2.2.2 that you suggest I should install? Please
You can use stock froyo ROMS from: forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Motorola_Defy
won`t boot up ... only with JORDN_U3_97.21.51 is booting up ). so , i downgraded from 2.3.7 to 2.1 update 1. what to do nowwww ?
I had a similar problem with my Defy. I solved the problem by flashing the Gingerbread ROM 2.3.4/4.5.1-134 as nandroid backup + fixed sbf. After that i flashed the Froyo (o2) sbf back and finally got it booted up.
yep ... i finally solved it. if anyone have the same problem as me -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15341774&postcount=8
This happened to you because JORDN_U3_97.21.51 is 2.1 eclair with CG39.smg and CG31.smg version 5. Once you flash a version 5 CG set you are stuck on version 5. This is the same CG version as the leaked 2.3.4 sbf's. The ONLY sbf's you can flash from now on are JORDN_U3_97.21.51 and the full 2.3.4 sbf's. To switch to any other rom you will need to restore THAT roms nandroid, and then create a fixed sbf from THAT rom by depacking THAT sbf and deleting CG39.smg and replace CG31.smg with CG31.smg from 2.3.4 sbf. Repack it and flash this fixed sbf.
I know its obviously too late but for anyone reading this who wants to downgrade from a froyo sbf to an eclair sbf can flash US Tmobile eclair 2.1 sbf found here http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umt...1028.0R_JORDANTMO_P022_HWp3_Service1FF.sbf.gz This eclair sbf shares CG version=4 just like froyo sbf's. I'm not sure if any other eclair sbf's contain CG=4 as I'm only familiar with US Tmobile eclair sbf. But I believe all other eclair sbf's have CG=3

[Q] need defy help please

ok, so i have a defy i rooted it and tried to change boot logo and i misplaced the file and it wouldnt turn on or boot.
so i plug it into my pc and it is recognised by rsd lite and a white led shows up on my defy.
i go to flash a rom and it doesnt work.
it turns the little green picture red and then fails.
Any chance of me being able to actually getting it to work.
i have resarched loads of ways and nothing seems to help, hence why i posted here. thankyou
ROM (in a zip file) or SBF file? RSD Lite will only accept SBF files!
If you are using a SBF file, is the CG version greater than or equal to what you had before? For example you can't flash a Froyo SBF after flashing Gingerbread.
i used the .SBF
i was on froyo trying to flas another version of it, so i need flash a gingerbread rom?
can anyone else give me a hand?
Does it have clock work mod recovery installed
no it doesn't, im guessing its screwed?
no your not, just flash the stock froyo image (.sbf file) with rsd lite and then erase data trough stock recovery and it should start normally
ps: i used this one

if this works your a baws
Install official Indian Froyo 2.2.2 from http://www.mirrorcreator.com/files/HRXSSAXE/ using RSDLite if you have not installed any new version of 2.3 GB

If all depends on the kind of SBF that you flashed. If you have flashed a FULL sbf then you can't downgrade most likely. If you flashed a FIXED sbf then downgrading shouldn't be a problem.
I made the same mistake in the beginning but luckily I only flashed a FULL 2.2 sbf which is stable. For now I always start from this rom, get root on my phone using superoneclick, install 2ndinit, reboot into 2ndinit recovery (volume down when led turns blue) and I install the nandroid backup that I placed on My SD card using "install from zip".
It would help if you gave some more info on which sbf you flashed?

[Q] Need help with installing ICS on Defy+

I recently bought Defy+ with 2.3.5. and i want to install ICS but i don't understand a thing about SBF files, Nandroid stuff. Rooting and installing custom ROM-s doesn't seem to be a problem only this thing about upgrading and downgrading SBF is what I dont understand.
Can anybody explain me in simplest way what are SBF files and how to put ICS on my phone.
This is what SBF's are all about.
And this is how to flash CM9 ICS.
Ok, but would i be able to put my stock ROM back after i install that ICS?
Just stay away from flashing SBF files and you'll be fine and will always be able to go back to stock.
NB! The only SBF you should ever flash, is your STOCK SBF! If you obey this rule, you'll be just fine
P.S. This post was written in font size 7 for a reason and the reason is not that I'm yelling. It's just because many people here listen to other newby's, advising them to flash this or that SBF and then can't go back. It's for your own good, guys
First go and find your stock(faktory)rom then look if you have red(bayer) or green (SOC) camera lens
root your phone
install 2nd init or use twrp from goo-inside or goomanager app
Boot into cwm recovery
Make a backup of your stock rom
Now you can go back via recovery system to your own setup whenever you want to
Just wipe data , look for the right kernel and restore your backup
You can flash your orginal sbf with rsd lite whenever you want and your phone is nearley like a new one.
Maybe some infos are stored on phone what you have flashed on

So I do this:
1. Root phone
2. Install 2nd init
3.Backup of my stock ROM
And than install ICS like it is explained here.
And if I want to return stock ROM I just find backup file on my computer and install it with rsd lite.
No need to backup your original ROM - that's what your stock SBF is for By flashing it, you will return your original system, that was installed by Motorola and will remove 2nd init, root and all traces of ever manipulating your phone

That's the safest way! However, you can't always find your original SBF (e.g. my original rom is 45.0.74.MB526.Retail.en.DE, 4.5.1-134 DFP-74).
You can download the available SBF for defy+ here: h**p://sbf.droid-developers.org/umts_jordanplus/list.php
So if i want to take my phone to service i just download 2.3.5 Motorola Stock ROM and flash it like normal.
What is difference between flashing ROM and SBF files?
And you told me that only SBF i should flash is my stock SBF but want i change my SBF files when i flash ICS?
I have a nandroid of the stock rom that came with my phone.. how do I see what build version it is? Im on cm7.2. I cant restore it because of hash errors. So if i find out build info i can flash that particular sbf

If you flash just the ROM, the kernel and the other files will be the same and most important you won't burn eFuses, so you'll be able to come back to older version.

Auris 1.6 vvt-i told you to flash your stock SBF to avoid burning eFuses and because in this way you will never have problems with warranty (some versions could be not available in your country). You don't need to flash full SBF before upgrading to ICS, just check the kernel and flash the right version.
