Details:
Existing Walmart Family Mobile customers can apparently still get the $299 deal. Existing Monthly 4G Customers cannot get the deal, however they can activate the new phone and should be able to call in to transfer their previous account info into the new account.
I'll be answering questions here (also on the page linked below). Walmart does have these, look at the photos on the page. Ask someone competent in the Walmart Connection Center and ask if they have them in stock. They got the update on their computers last week on the deal and how it works. Stores received them between August 8th through the 13th - some earlier.

Adding this to clear up questions
There seems to be a lot of incorrect assumptions on here as well as a lot of misinformation being given. Let me clarify everything. Also, it would be worth reading the info listed in the source.
This deal works ONLY at Walmart stores back in the Connection Center. Stores should have received them and should have the info tags posted next to their Walmart Family Mobile display. There are no additional discounts or rebates available on this. The Galaxy S II is $570 outright, so you are effectively getting this phone for $270 off already.
There are two separate ways to attain the Galaxy S II for $299:
¤ Activate a Walmart Family Mobile account. This will require a $25 activation kit, which includes your WFM SIM card. For more info on that, view the source. Existing customers of WFM should be able to get this deal after confirming their account.
¤ Buy the Prepaid variant - aka, the T-Mobile Monthly 4G Pink Box. This includes the Prepaid SIM card in the box, which they will activate for you. You must get a monthly plan valued at $30 and up.
Not all stores have these phones yet, but that has to do with their ordering system and their competence."
Not bad at all, at that price its kinda just better to get the Gnex though. To each his own though.

Agree with you there.. Galaxy Nexus is a way better phone (IMO) for only $50 more.. and its unlocked so you are not limited to WFM or T-mobile. You could use StraightTalk if you wanted.. which is what I use..
This offer on the S2 is still a good opportunity, special since its the only Decent phone available for Prepaid customers (WFM is prepaid too)
(hunting a deal on the Galaxy Nexus, need one for the girlfriend )
Also of note is in Canada the same version of the SII (just minus t-mobile branding) is available for $300 with a $100 gift card from Koodo or $150 on their tab

I went ahead and grabbed one of these for a couple of reasons. I really wanted a risk free way of trying out Tmo $30.00 plan and the Galaxy Nexus is $80.00 more for me in Cali after shipping and tax.
Since these are going for more on the local CL I can try out the service and then break even when I sell it.
It's going to be interesting carrying my Gnex and the S2 around at the same time. Both are pretty good sized phones!

Just buy the AT&T version. I know it's $50 more, but you do get to use that towards movies/shows. I picked mine up on Ebay for about $630, flashed the euro version and everything works like a charm, phone/sms/data, etc. The t-mobile version won't work on 3G.
I just got my tab at a local T-Mobile for $50 with a $50 mail in rebate. So basically it was free on contract. Great deal!

Every single unlocked phone I ever bought had the box already opened. They opened it to put in the wall converter. I don't know about European plugs though.

Is that how much they will cost flat out from at&t or T-Mobile? I am tempted to pick one up and go with straight talk. How ever I am pretty happy with my galaxy s2 e4gt on virgin mobile other than the spotty service.

Switch, it's worth it. I just went from 66 kbps on Sprint here in NYC to 2 Mbps down mid-day on Straight Talk (AT&T) on my international Galaxy S III. And it's only $45 a month. It may not be real unlimited, but it's still much much better than Sprint's completely useless data speeds.
Also, off-contract the US ones are $649, so say $750 after tax. May as well go with the international ones from Amazon. If you want a penta-band one though, go with the T-Mobile one. It also has AT&T bands. The AT&T one only does AT&T bands. The cool thing with Straight Talk is if you choose AT&T compatible SIM it works in locked AT&T phones and if you chose T-Mobile compatible SIM it works in T-Mobile locked phones (both work in unlocked phones as well).

Well I can't afford to buy a new phone right now but maybe towards the end of the year I could pick up a used one. But I'm interested to see how much better the galaxy siii is compared to the gsii exeynos based version.

The only thing that sucks so far is the camera. Everything else is better. I still have S2 camera shots on my memory card and they have SO much more detail in them than S3 shots. I had an Epic 4G Touch (but I came from a Galaxy Nexus).
If anyone happens to run up on a deal on Notes can you please let me know? Upgrading on Monday or so, so far the best price I have found (contract price) is $147.98 at Walmart..
Also an AT&T HOX, I've found them for $79.98 new and $49.99 refurbished..

Sam's Club has the S3 for $0.96
Best Buy $49.99 for Sprint version, $99.99 for AT&T
Radio Shack, I believe, was $99.99
Walmart $129 but you get a $100 Walmart gift card (the Walmart deal runs Nov. 23 through Dec. 1 so probably the place I will go for my son as he has an upgrade in December as I don't want to wait in the Best Buy line and I don't have a Sam's club membership and we spend enough money at Walmart anyway that the $100 GC will be used so that the net cost is only $29 and I don't have to fight the crowds on BF).

If you have it now, means they'll give it back to you after an upgrade. I did exactly that when upgraded in spring (when 15$ plan was already "gone"). it automatically bumped my data plan to a more expensive one, I called them and they gave me back my 15$ one...

Isn't the AT&T one only free because Amazon only supports upgrades through the next program? Unless something changed from when the thread started it says 2 year upgrade not available, and has a monthly Next fee just like AT&T does.

Just wanted to stop by and thank the OP for this post cause you saved me $200......well $199.99!
Due to me being on SERO-P I haven't been able to jump on these types of deals since I switched to SERO-P on the Evo 4G. I found out from someone on Slickdeals that Discover's price protection worked on cell phones so I figured I'd try it this time. When I preordered the G4 I made sure I used Discover. I waited until my 14 day return period passed before submitting my claim with Discover. It took a little over a week after resubmitting my claim and it is now approved.
So now I get the best of both worlds...SERO-P and super cheap phones!

And the $99 is only since Sunday, before that it was $199. (free is long since over)
