I had a problem with Zune update of samsung focus i917and tried to restore as suggested. I got a bricked phone. I need to try downloading the following file: i917-Focus-firmware-UCJK2-ATT-USA.exe to try and get the phone to be updated and functioning, but I cannot find the file anywhere. XDA has some links for the file, but they have been hijacked by B...S websites. Does anyone know where to find the file? I have searched, but have gotten a bunch of websites that want you to download a bunch of crappy software, but never provide the actual file.

Please see my post here. I've just tested both mediafire and digzip (you just need to wait 30).
If you use the MediaFire links, be sure to download BOTH parts of the ROM you want. I had to break them into two pieces due to the limitations of MediaFire. Then Run the First part to extract the ROM files. Also, you may need the Samsung Drivers if you have not installed them previously. It is also included in that link.

I'm not sure if the Wizard forum has particular trouble with virii/trojans or maybe I just notice it more but I thought I would cross-post a thread I started in the General section.
Howto verify uploads and downloads
I'll respond here as i seem to only fly around the Wizard forums...
How will this actually help? I don't mind a uploader posting an MD5 hash or SFV file to verify the file is what they uploaded, but if they are attaching it to the forum post or providing a direct link to the file on their server (or another server) then it wouldn't be tampered with. This kind of protection is only useful then you have a large number of mirror sites. As in the case of a virus or trojan it wouldn't detect that in any way...
It would only tell us that the file is what the uploader says it is. To that regard we end up still having to put a lot of trust in the uploader...
As I said I don't mind an uploader posting a hash, but in the context of what you're promoting it for I think it is useless...
You are right, for attached files the problem is already solved. However files available from 3rd party sites (rapidshare, etc) are not necessarily uploaded by the author. Often the author's rapidshare link (for example) may be broken so users end up sourcing the file elsewhere.
I believe it will help because the files being 'impersonated' seem to be popular files from recognised users such a mUn, Faria, and so on. In this instance the author has a reputation attributed to them. What file verification does is associates a certain file with that author. Forum users should already be evaluating the legitimacy of an upload based on the user. Someone with 1 post uploading a ROM should not be as trusted as someone known in the forum.
In the recent case of ShellTool being replaced I believe a hash would work. In this instance a trusted forum user uploaded a tool but duplicate copies were made available. Had the file being identified as different to the trusted version based on checksum it should have cast doubt on its legitimacy.
The problems found here are usually caused by people going to XDA FTP and downloading stuff based on their names directly, not with respect with any post, hence MD5 will not help much in this situation. And, when certain software were suggested on the forum, somehow, some people tend to look at FTP instead of the forum.
ANYWAY, using MD5 is good if people dont find it troublesome to take the extra security precaution. Still, I hope that people will at least state their file size of their uploaded file. It is unlikely to have a functional EXE with the same file size while performing totally different thing (at least it is not easily done).
UPDATE:
Got an account with filedropper.com - so, here is a new link:
http://www.filedropper.com/captivatesystem_1
Select the gray "download this file" button in the center.
Try this one. We'll see if it runs out of bandwidth or reaches a max download....
NOTE: I pushed the FMRadio.apk from the Euro GS Rom to this phone prior to making the system dump. It is included in the apps in the dump. HOWEVER, it does NOT work. It appears that all it would need to work would be the radio drivers from the EURO version to include in a new kernal - then we would have a REAL FM RADIO like on some of the other devices -instead of the ATT crapware radio that they want to charge fees for!
Edit:
Below are two other posts late in the thread that also have links. If one doesn't work or is too slow for you - try another!

In case the file becomes unavailable again I created a mirror. Should be nice and fast.

I was able to download at 1.1 mb/s for this.
I've uploaded the file that I downloaded, so perhaps we can split up the load? I don't have an account so I'm not sure how it will work, but we can try!

System Dump
Sweet download. Thanks...
I thought my talents would transcend my outspokeness, I was wrong.
I am an anroid n00b.
how do I do a clean install with this dump?
I heard it was "the same as rooting" - but how is it done? Tried sticking it on the card and doing adb reboot recovery and it won't do anything.
I deleted att apps and may need to exchange the device out at att. want to make sure it looks legit before I take it in.
Great share. Thanks

Spoke too soon, file is corrupt and now filedropper won't let me download. Does anyone else have this file and can share. Thanks

I just went and tried to download the file, and it worked.
I also downloaded it earlier and then uploaded it again so there are two files floating around. Go try that one.
The OP did a great thing here. I am just trying to spread the love!
Got it that time. Big thanks...
Before I begin, let me give a thanks to Leviuqse for posting how to get your Data/3G working universally, not just on the Epic.
Also, to whomever posted the original MEID/pESN locations on Mobile-Files!
Okay so there was a How-To on Mobile-Files, but it was erased because the site is down indefinitely.
BUT! I have found a ZIP file containing the original posting with all of the MEID locations!
I will attach it to this posting for further reference(s).
I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY IN THIS... If you damage your phone in any way, that is on you, not me. I will help with problems all that I can though!
Also, I AM NOT THE OWNER OF THIS STEP-BY-STEP, all ownership is in the text files located in the ZIP, also mentioned above.
You need to downgrade your RADIO/HBoot using the RUU which I will also include in this file. When you update it to a newer version/custom ROM the settings/configuration should stick.
But if not you can always re-downgrade to 1.56(Radio). The RUU is 1.29.651.1, which is also very hard to find.
I have successfully flashed 2 Hero's with this guide before.
Also I will include a link to use for retrieving your HA/AAA Secret Keys, which will be needed for your 3G/MMS/Data.
Also, I know that it is for the Epic, but since you will be reading from the Incognito, and entering on QPST, it works fine.

Hi guys,
Just wondering if anyone could provide a known working link to a stock ROM for the GT-I9506 (preferably Australian, although I'm not sure if that matters on an unlocked phone).
I've tried the well-known sammobile.com and samsung-updates.com links that can be found all over Google and these forums, many times each. The sammobile.com ones always drop in and out regularly throughout the download when using a segmented download accelerator (iGetter on OS X to be precise). This doesn't seem to be a problem at first, since 20+ retries will eventually get me to 100%, but the resulting file always unzips to a *.cpgz file that unzips to another *.zip (a well-known corrupted zip file issue).
Trying to download the same files through Chrome will always eventually time-out (I've never gotten past 20% this way; usually much-less).
The samsung-updates.com files are even worse, being hosted by two separate mirrors that are equally useless unless you pay for a "premium account".
I realise I'm a bit late to the party, since the S7 is now on shelves in Australia, and that's probably why the popular download links on Google are now dead or very unreliable. But if anyone could please provide me with the latest available stock ROM for this phone I'd be forever grateful!

Have you tried the SamFirm tool?

Hi there, thanks for responding! I'd never heard of SamFirm until you mentioned it, but after reading about it on here it seems like exactly what I need! Will give it a whirl when I get home from work this evening (it's currently 8:10 am here and I'm running late LOL). Thanks again!
Just wanted to update this thread in case anyone might fight it useful in the future.
It turns out that the sammobile.com links are still valid as of this post's date. The problem I was having was simply due to Mac OS X not recognising the specific zip format that the files have been compressed under. I'm still unsure exactly which format that is, but nonetheless the solution is to either use The Unarchiver to unzip the file on a Mac, or better yet, use a Windows machine since Odin requires that anyway!
My sincerest apologies go out to the sammobile.com admins who have actually done a wonderful job of stocking all the possible ROMs for practically every Samsung device ever made. It was just my sheer n00biness, and the fact that I was using WiFi, that led to me having connection issues and unzipping problems (solid download over Ethernet; completed in ~2 - 3 hours through Chrome, no DM).
As for GDReaper's suggestion to use SamFirm, I had problems running it on a Windows Server 2008 R2 VM on Mac OS X El Capitan, so gave up and tried the sammobile.com links from a friend's PC. As stated above, everything went smoothly with those links once OS X and WiFi were taken out of the equation. Of course YMMV since my area seems to be particularly overcrowded with WiFi devices and I've had troubles with it since I can remember.
So to sum up, SamFirm may or may not work well from a proper Windows PC, but the sammobile.com download links for the GT-I9506 definitely work as well as your connection will allow (at least the Australian Telstra and Vodafone ones; haven't tried any others).
Many thanks again to GDReaper, and also to everyone else who puts so much effort into helping Android n00bs like me
Hi,
got a friends SM-G950F. Its on G950FXXU5DSFB_DBT.
Tried to flash COMBINATION_FA70_G950FXXU5ASF1 via Odin. On the phone i get: only officaily released binaries are allowed
Saw here and here that it seems there is a COMBINATION_FA70_G950FXXU5ASF1_FIX file available, just dont be able to download it cause i only find dl on liveon and seems impossible to activate the free account to download the file.
so my 2 question:
1. will this file (G950FXXU5ASF1/_fix) generally work on G950FXXU5DSFB_DBT? as im a OnePlus guy i dont exactly know all parameters in the samsung naming convention. seems first comes model, then BL version. Thought rest would be language stuff wich wouldnt be important (for me) for combination use.
2. someone got this file or one combination file which should work on the version i got here?
thx for any help!
noe one can help or at least point me in the right direction?!
