People,
I get errors about the Android keyboard stopping working - just providing feedback here since I can't post to the development forum yet.
Thanks,
Phil.
On which rom are you?
Clean or dirty install?
Wipes?

Do not for one second think this belongs in development. IF YOU DID NOT CREATE "IT", THEN DO NOT POST IN DEVELOPMENT. Just to make that clear.

Daily driver: RocketROM v10
- Installed the cm-9.0.0-n7000.zip from recovery
- Reboot
- Installed the cm-10-20120814-UNOFFICIAL-n7000.zip recovery
- Install gapps
- Reboot
No WIPE DATA/FACTORY RESET - should that make a difference?
Thanks,
Phil.

How do developers get feedback on the functioning of the ROM they have created then? It would seem dumb to post responses in a different forum . .
Thanks,
Phil.
The installation process clearly states Wipe data/factory reset and then reboot...
So how about trying this?
Btw devs do highly appreciate if you follow their advice (rarely and uncommon to be found in the first post) of how to install their ROM properly in order to get the ROM working and finding bugs afterwards. Which includes a clean install in most cases i.e. wipe data/factory reset.

You can always take your case to the Mods, Phil. Just tell them their rules are dumb, I'm sure they'll revise them.
In that case it's only logical thatyou haveproblems. After changing a type of rom (stock, different cm, etc.) always make a full wipe

People often post about bugs, etc. in a developers ROM thread - you just shouldn't be creating new threads off topic.
In your case it would probably just annoy people as your problem is likely to be due to lack of research...
Read the installation instructions for CM9 on this forum. Its says you have to wipe after the install. I've gone from Rocket to cM9 (playing about with different roms) with a wipe after the cm9 install and mine works fine.

There is a thread for the discussion of CM10 issues, this discussion belongs there.
Development is for support questions, it's for development. Ask your questions in the appropriate area after searching to make sure your answer hasn't already been posted. The developers get the information they need, knowledgeable users will help you as long as you make it clear you have done your research first.

I downloaded rom manager but is it possible to flash clockwork mod recovery? When I check I only see one acer listed and I am not sure if it would be compatible.

Use acer recovery installer from the market. The A500 is not supported by rom manager.

WOW... I can't believe at this late date someone actually asked this.....
When I went to root my a501 there were about 10 different threads telling me how to do just this....

I think it just dropped off the top showing thread post this morning. It tells all about this as well as some other interesting stuff about flashing roms . what roms and everything else you would need to know to keep yourself from having a Brick.....
Flashing the acer has to be done EXACTLY RIGHT or its a worthless brick..
There is a sticky at the top..OF The page telling everyone how to search. When you start to make a new Thread it shows you recent threads on the same topic.. this helps keep the forums from being filled with the same thing repeated over and over.. There is also a Sticky thread in the DEV SECTION with common tips and Tricks for the iconia..
Please read that thread OP.. It will avoid someone being upset at you again for asking a VERY Simple solved many times Question..
Also read about rooting and issues with 3.2 bootloader if your tablet is just purchased...

Sorry, Noob here..my 1st post, actually.
I installed zip's creamed glacier 3.11 after using 3.10 for a few days. My problem only is that I backup everything to my pc before I install any rom and once I installed 3.11 the option to switch to storage doesn't work. Sooo...I ended up reverting back to 3.10 so I could reload all my music, pics, etc...
My question is, was this supposed to be fixed and it was just me that was the problem or is this a problem for anyone else?
definitely a noob LOL, youd have much better luck posting in zips thread... technically, thats where you SHOULD be posting..
i dont use zips so i cant help you but yea.. ask in his thread for results gl
yes, a noob
...exactly why I can't post on his thread...you need at least 10 posts... quite ridiculous if you ask me.. How am I supposed to post on a thread if I have to start one on my own just because I'm new to the site?
Rules are rules for a reason, I guess...

He is gonna put a new update with the fix but if you can't wait for the update flash the newest version and install USB mount or any other 3rd party from the play store.

oh, sorry.. lol my fault, completely forgot new members had to wait to post in dev..
seems like a dumb rule to me too but i guess they want you to get used to the site first.. they take the dev section seriously lol
I experienced the same when upping to 3.11, however I'm not too worried. The only thing I needed to add was the low mic fix and I just emailed it to myself.
Download Multi Mount app or
use adb push method to copy files to your sd card
depending upon your recovery - you may have options there too. i use clockwordmod as my recovery - you can mount the usb from the cwm recovery, copy over your files and then update without having to restart, etc. (you can even back it up from cwm)
This thread is being created to explain, in short, a few common phone 'terms.' Now although there are many threads explaining the same thing they are 'thicker' and written differently. A different guide will help a different person. I think it is valid that there is more than one explanation of the same thing. If you have ANY suggestions, please leave them in post form below. I have explained this relative to the Xperia x8 and this is why it is in our territory.
Remember that this is a MINI guide. So not every term in the android language will be explained. For a more complicated guide see HERE or on the everything x8 w8 thread here. Both guides are different.
Anyway Here is a mini guide about phone terms:
A ROM stands for Read Only Memory, ususally on this site referring to the phone's internal memory where your apps are stored. It's like an operating system. (OS) When people say they're flashing a new ROM, it usually means they are installing a new 'operating system'. A custom rom may have new features different to the STOCK rom.
The term Stock usually means the version of something installed by the manufacturer. Or in other words, the stuff already on that thing.
An .APK is a Package on Android. Usually you will meet these when installing apps on your phone. This is, simply put, just a file extension, like .exe on windows.
Rooting is simply giving your phone administrators rights. No roms or anything. Once rooted you could install clockworkmod which would allow you to install a rom that would work on you STOCK kernel (the one that comes with xperia).
A kernel is a set of instructions to a phone. different kernels or custom kernels (not stock) enable you to flash some more advanced roms as not all roms will work on STOCK kernel.
Also, in most cases, different kernels allow overclock and undervolt. These things allow you to make your device run faster.
Unlocking your BootLoader is required to install a custom kernel. Unlocking a bootloader can be difficult and if done wrong, can brick your device completely.(make it useless like a brick) This is why I did not do it until a few weeks ago - because I was scared. If you do however find yourself bricked, look to my guide no further than HERE.
You flash kernels with Flashtool. But you MUST have an unlocked BootLoader to do this.
If I was to recommend a rom, I would say MiniCyanogenmod (CM for short). The developer, nAa, focuses on getting the galaxy nexus android - pure version. Check out my review on the stable ever wonderful MiniCM9 HERE.
Links to Flashtool, ROMS and other things mentioned will be in my other guides hyperlinked in the article.
Please be generous with the 'Thanks' if you appreciate my effort.
Special Thanks to I Am Nice for his consistent helpful feedback
You should better explain what kernel is. Like conection between hardware and ROM

Pls don't disrespect chris. I can tell you he knows what he's saying (he didn't get to become RT for nothing).
I admire your efforts, but please add more definitions. For example: you didn't really explain what "bootloader" means. And like chris has said, it's already explained (in morr detail) in another thread. Hopefully you'll add more jargons in the near future. Good job though.
Edit: you may want to report those users thay are stalking you.

All my work is being done on an internet cafe. I pay 2 euros per hour just to answer the comments you make and then if i have time manage my downloads and upload more. I also have to to move many files with a usb that i bought just for this. Believe me the computers there are really slow. Its not going to be like this forever. Please be patient. A moderator please temporary close this thread and open when i have a download link available.
please do not post rom threads without download link. It is considered placeholders and they are not permitted in XDA dev section. Thread closed, please OP contact me when you have a download link to a working rom (at least booting rom). Best regards,
AOSP ROM for Galaxy S6
YOUR WARRANTY IS NOW VOID, I AM NOT RESPONSABLE FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED TO YOUR DEVICE
This is an AOSP Rom for the following models of the Galaxy S6: G92xF/FD/I/T/W8/K/L/S . It's running stock google applications, and it is completely debloated. I am having some trouble porting the System UI and the Setup Wizard, so in the stable version the System UI is Goodlock and it's using the stock Samsung setup wizard. The unstable version is running on stock android Marshmallow System UI and is using the stock android set up wizard. This version is unstable so it may crash several times.
You will need a rooted device with a custom recovery installed to flash it.
To install:
- Copy the ROM zip to your internal of your Phone
- Reboot to recovery mode (TWRP)
- Do an Data/Factory reset first in your recovery
- Start the installation of the ROM.
MAKE SURE TO HAVE A BACKUP IN CASE SOMETHING GOES WRONG
Download completely stock (unstable) version of the rom in post 2.
Download semi stock (stable) version of the rom in post 3.

Welcome to XDA but if you plan to continue creating this kind of threads you'll lose your account pretty soon.
Read rules here.
You can also read this if you didn't understand rules.
