Is there a way to improve incoming quality on skype video calls? I look good and fluid to the other person but they are choppy and very low frame rate to me. The clarity isn't the greatest either...It's very pixelated, like the resolution is being scaled down.

I just played around little with video recording capability's of HD2 and realized that recorded video has too low 15fps at 640x480 resolution & MPEG4. With hardware spec like HD2 has, it shouldn't be a problem to record video at higher frame rate (25/30fps).
Did some of you managed to tweak it to record video at 25/30fps at 640x480 resolution & MPEG4 format?

You are lucky to get that, when indoors with average lighting, I get approx 12fps. You need nice and bright lighting to get good fps, I agree these HD2s should be capable of more, a big disappointment.
I just realized that frame rate really depends on the lightning condition of the room. I would expect that picture quality would drop if there is not enough light (with introduction of artifacts like noise) but surely frame rate should remain constant.Or?
Frame rate obviously decreases in low light to let more light in, otherwise you could have a high frame rate with a very dark picture.

I know the people here are very talented and I hope someone can help. I had high hopes for the video recording on this phone. When the reviews came out I was very disappointed in both the pic and video quality. Every 8 mega pixel camera phone out there beats it. Even the 1 year old Omnia HD. I can live with the pic quality but the video quality is what really frustrates me. Yea it records in 800x480 but whats the point if its pixelated and washed out. Not to mention the highest frame rate it can go to is 26fps. Ohh and the audio quality is horrendous. When the Omnia HD came out it also suffered from bad audio quality but in a later update they addressed the issue. Most phones coming out now record in AAC audio which the Incredible obviously doesn't. I just wish someone can up the frame rate to 30fps, give the video a higher bitrate, and change the audio to AAC. IF you have spare time can you unlock the 720p recording.

What apps are you using for videochat?
Everyone I try looks like crap, they are nowhere near the quality I can get on a computer with a ****tier VGA webcam when I have a 1080p much better on the phone, but every app I use it, it doesn't offer true hd quality and smooth fps, all of them looks bad in quality of image and framerate
any idea?
Since I cant post videos at the moment please do me a favor and try this out and see for yourself.
Does the slow motion resolution look a lot less than 720p? I recorded a regular video in 720p as well just to compare and it looks a lot better than in slo-mo mode
Also, when viewing a recording it'll start at normal speed like usual, I then select the part of the video I want slowed down which works great but then when the video goes back to normal speed the sounds are way off, for example I was juggling a soccer ball and while the ball was in the air you'd hear the kicking sounds. hoping there's a fix for this.
Don't get me wrong the video quality is good, but can we push it even further like can we do something about the bitrate, make the video even sharper and better?
