Is there anyway that you can get a landscape lock screen on the nexus 7? Do you have to be rooted or not because I'm not rooted.

Use one of the rotation apps, set orientation worked best for me, don't need to be rooted.

I just got my N7 today and noticed that barely any apps will go into landscape mode. Apps like settings, pulse and the play store just work much better for me in landscape and i can't get it to work. Also I am unable to get Nova launcher to give me a landscape home screen which would be so much nicer
Pulse works in landscape for me. Make sure you have the orientation unlocked in the notification window.

That's what that button did... Wow i feel stupid...
OK im sure this might be a dumb question....but I can't seem to View anything on my Nexus in landscape view...only portrait, anyone know how to adjust this?
If you pull the notification bar down there is a lock next to the date. You can also force it with an app like Rotation Locker from the market.

look up the one click rooting tool as it is the best way to do it. besides rooting your device it also installs cwm. with cwm you can flash roms and kernels to improve the look and performance of your N7.
quick boot is another excellent tool.
es file explorer is needed to edit the dpi on the N7. i prefer the dpi at 175 for a tablet ui on the N7. after you change the dpi go into settings and change text size to large and your good to go! happy rooting to you
cheers
Much of the Nexus 7 UI has been designed using portrait mode. With that being said, some apps will still rotate (if you have the rotation lock off which was already mentioned) but for the most part they intend you use portrait.

I see no lock next to the date. Just the icon for settings.

Although most of it works fine in landscape mode, I've used mine mostly locked in landscape mode since I got it without any issues.
The launcher is what is locked in portrait which screws everyone up. Try downloading a new launcher like Apex or Go Launcher. Most apps will rotate but a few will force themselves to portrait mode.

Hey mates,
So here's my problem:
Whenever I open a game, the screen rotates into portrait mode, so that the buttons are at the top and the ports on the right side.
From time to time it would be better for me to have it in the "other" portrait mode because of my case.
Any chance to realize this?

Seems that not every app forces me to take that side.
Any chance to enable the sensor for every app?

Been trying to do this also, never found a good answer. I believe it is up to each developer how the app deals with screen orientation.
You can force any app to rotate any way you want with Ultimate Rotation Control from the Play store. I used it until I flashed Paranoid Android ROM. It worked perfectly.

Thanks for your answer.
Gonna give it a try.

On my Nexus 7, the quick settings drag-down menu has auto-rotate lock, but my Nexus 4 does not. Both are running Android 4.2.1.
Is anyone else bothered by the fact that there is no quick way to lock and unlock your screen orientation?
Or if there is, please let me know!
You can use an app for that, if it isn't a problem - Power Toggles. It has a slightly different behaviour - as far as I know, the native auto-rotate toggle locks the display in its current orientation, whereas Power Toggles only seems to be able to set it to portrait and leave it that way.
That's the quick'n'easy way, otherwise, there may be a mod for the same purpose.

yes the double slide shows the quick settings for wifi, gps, etc.. on nexus 4 there is NO auto-rotate whereas on nexus 7 there is.
Just got my N4 a few weeks ago and this lack of foresight bugs the hell out of me. Is is plausible to extract the auto-rotate quick setting toggle from the N7 factory image and build that into a custom, modified stock, 4.2.2 ROM?
If you're saying to yourself "seems like a lot of work for something with such little use," spare us all the comment. Little details are the most important IMHO.
Use an app named power toggles
Here's a screenshot of my setup.

I've got power toggles installed. But it's redundant and not what I'm looking for.

If you're willing to, just flash a custom ROM such as PA which has it built in. Being a Nexus, most ROMs are very close to stock in most ways.

Hi guys thinking about moving from the Note 3 to the LG G2.
One thing that is annoying on the note 3 is that the launcher does not rotate to lanscapw mode. This is very annoying as my car dock is landscape.
Does the G2 do this even with a mod?
Cheers!

If you're using the stock launcher, you may be in the minority. Most if not all of the alternative launchers like Nova, ADW, Go, have landscape capability, you'd not be limited to such a small icon grid, and they don't require root.
