Auxilary output? - Nexus Q Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any way to get an auxilary output from the banana plugs in the back? I bought some that i can hook up to speakers with copper wire but i was wondering if anyones been able to convert that into an aux. Thanks
Sent from my TC970 (Wi-Fi) using xda premium

Since the output is amplified, I don't think it would be possible.
Quick edit: by my statement, I'm assuming you want the aux to be at line level.
Sent from my Nexus 7

In theory, yes you can turn an amplified analog signal into a line level out.
In practice, you might end up with a cloud of blue smoke from choosing the wrong component values, and to do it right will still cost a few bucks.
Better choice (safer choice) is to find a toslink or hdmi to analog decoder.

As others have noted, yes... you need 2 channel "Line Level Converter" ... or you could use a TOSLINK to RCA adapter, but those require an external power source... so another plug in the wall.

[Q] How to turn on video-out?

I have still the old video-out cable from the original Galaxy tab (the one with the red, yellow and white Cinch connectors). Does it work with the 7.7 and if yes, how? I found no way to turn on the video out feature...
Hi you need the HDMI adaptor sa far as I know, the composite one doesn't work on the p6800

That is correct. Composite video out via the 3.5mm headphone jack does not work for the 7.7. Have a read through my related post here.

I Test The old cable With P6200 and P6800. And I have only Audio, Without any Video. I Think the Problem is Honeycomb. Maybe it's Work After Update to ICS.

Again, read my other post. The link was in response to someone asking about the exact same question but with regard to the 30-pin adapter.
In short, no composite video for you. Ever. Not via 3.5mm, not via 30-pin plug, not via anything. 1280*800 resolution is WAY too high for composite video anyway. Your only option is HDMI.

Probably because the necessary hardware to downscale the 1024x600 resolution to composite isn't present in the P6200. Just because it's a newer model doesn't automatically mean that it will retain the older features of the previous generation. Producing a unit that only outputs HDMI compliant signals is cheaper, and with HDMI being almost everywhere nowadays anyway, more people are likely to use it now. That's just the way forward into the future. Let composite die already.
It's kinda like how you very rarely see laptops with 25-pin parallel ports, or 9-pin serial ports or VGA ports anymore; it's all USB and HDMI now.
Out with the old, in with the new.

I want to fabricate a Nexus 7 to be the head unit for my car. help?

http://amazon.nuforce-icon.com/NuForce-Icon-uDAC2-Silver-Headphone-Amp/M/B003Y5LY1C.htm
Will this work with a Nexus 7 charging with a high output car charger?
Also, since it's only 2vrms line output, and only two RCA outs, and I'd need to split it into 6 channels, 4 for my Alpine 4 channel amp, and 2 more for my Alpine 400 watt class D monoblock amp, I'd only have about .6 volts going into my amps which is nowhere near enough. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'd need at least 18v total for the pre out ideally for lossless audio (3v per channel) to ensure minimal crosstalk between cables and good response from volume?
http://www.amazon.com/Rockford-Fosg...F8&qid=1349079396&sr=1-1&keywords=line+driver
My car system is high fidelity by all means. I have some 5.25" Kevlar woofers in the door panels I ripped out of my professional studio monitors, some swivel mount silk dome tweeters mounted at ear level, and the crossover system from a good Alpine 6.5" set that the tweeters also came out of pushing 80 watts RMS and about 90db efficiency in the door panels and some Alpine 6x9"s coaxial silk domes in the back pushing 70 watts RMS. 89db efficiency. the component speakers all easily handle over 200 watts peak, and I have a nice 4 channel Alpine 100 watt per channel 0.5%THD amp powering my components, then a 400 watt Alpine monoblock class D amp powering my dual Alpine 12" Type E Kevlar reinforced pulp cone subs in a really nice box good enough to have only one driver running, and the other will act as a passive radiator, in a vented box. They are 200 watt RMS and 750ish peak each and about 90db efficiency. Also a .5 Farad Capacitor is hooked up to both amps, just to help with lights dimming and give my system all the peak power it needs. Lights don't dim at all with the new cap, and subs/door speakers slam way harder than without it.
Anyway, some assholes are going to say my system is garbage, but A: I paid about $350 for it and installed it myself and B: it would cost more than I could even sell my car for for a professional to install what I installed. I'm guessing they'd ask at LEAST $1500 for what I have done to my car.
Anyway.. I need to know the best possible way to hook up a Nexus 7 fabricated into my dashboard, and will GPS work on the wifi model or no? I plan on having GPS everywhere, using my Galaxy note as a wifi hotspot with my grandfather clause unlimited data, and having the Nexus 7 act as the head unit itself. I doubt this has ever even been done before, and I doubt they even have a coax 4.1 high fidelity audio decoder for car audio application. Any hifi preamp Iv'e ever seen was around 2v pre outs. I need 3v+ per channel for 6 channels. Someone help me figure this out please?
Why is it every time you ask a question you go into some juvenile diatribe about everything you own. Don't you realize that makes people want to punch you in the face?

gps will work without wifi. just download a navigation app like route 66 or something.
there are many creative ways to mount your n7 as a audio system head for your car. you'll need a dedicated power source. a nice structure to dock it while looking clean. there are kits for the n7 out there to hook up the amp.
it will work.

Theres a video showing it works.
I was recently at a car show in Tyler Texas. The dude had a Tablet molded in his dash. With the USB and 3.5mm aux cable attached. Non removable tablet. The aux cable was wired to his MEECHLESS Head unit in his glove box. It looked and sounds amazing. Had a few subs and amps.
If you don't want to use a seperate hidden head unit. There are control boxes that splice standard wire to a a set of 2volt preouts for your subs. F/r/s.

Nexus 7 simultaneous audio over bluetooth & 3.5mm jack.

Hey guys,
Just picked up a Nexus 7 and was wondering if it's possible to listen to audio simultaneously via bluetooth AND the 3.5mm audio jack. The case for this would be so that my wife and I can listen to the same podcast or music together.
I don't have a BT stereo headset/receiver at this point to test with, but knowing the answer would better help me make a decision on what I need to buy. If this solution doesn't work, the other solution would be to buy a bluetooth splitter and two bluetooth receivers. I know we could just buy a 3.5mm splitter but I don't want one of us to be "leashed" hahaha.
TIA!
Don't think you can do it unless u find a dev for it pal. When u put connection to jack that takes prevalence
Maybe pair 2 Bluetooth devices?

Thanks guys - after reading more that does seem to be the case. As far as pairing two devices, one will still take precedence won't it? The only way around this, I think, would be to buy a bluetooth splitter that connects to the 3.5mm jack. And just have two BT headsets or receivers to pair to the splitter.

OnePlus 6T Dongle Audio Quality

Has anyone tried to compare the audio quality of OP6 via headphones jack with that of OP6T via the dongle? Just trying to find out if OnePlus uses another DAC chip in Type C port or the one in SD845.

The Type C dongle is passive the DAC is in the phone and not the dongle whihch is dissapointing and the quality is around the same as OP6 better off trying to source a 1st gen Google dongle or find a brand that makes a good one.

Exactly. The audio quality out of the dongle is so disappointing. It makes my FiiO F9 Pro soundstage sound narrower that it's supposed to. That's why I'm currently deciding whether if I should buy a FiiO Q1 MK II. But I never tried any of these amps before, I don't know if there would be a substantial improvement over the dongle

If there is a DAC in the phone, does plugging in a cable like this (which as a DAC built-in) tell the phone to send a non-processed signal straight out to the cable (so that the cable can do the d/a conversion)???

I'm not entirely sure how it works but the Type C bullets by OnePlus have a custom DAC in them and they're made for the OP6T

Finally got my FiiO Q1 MK II and I'm back with an answer. I don't even have to turn on OTG for usb audio to work. It detects the DAC and it automatically recognise the DAC as headphones
I'm using Firefly Dac. Is there reason why it sound lower?

Is there a way to confirm which DAC it's using? I'm not doubting it's passing audio from phone to your headphones but is the D/A conversion still being done on the phone and sending an analog signal thru your active cord OR it the cord actively doing the D/A conversion? Is there a way to tell?

I read it in a Reddit thread where it was mentioned that if you're using a dongle with a built-in DAC, it will use the DAC in the dongle instead of the one in the phone. I'd assume it's the same for other DAC as well. https://www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/comments/9uu3jy/oneplus_6t_has_an_analog_dac_inside_the_usbc_port/
Edit: After testing for many times (I hope the port life won't reduce after those tests), I can conclude that the phone is using the external DAC. Noticeable difference in the soundstage
Then theoretically op6t with fiio k1 should work, right? I have a pair of Sennheiser HD 598
I don't use any external DAC. I stream in the car, and I use V4A for audio processing, and it sounds incredible.
Get yourself one of these https://www.nexum-design.com/aqua - couldn't recommend them enough. I have one and it is absolutely the best 'dongle' you can get. Battery does take a hit because of the integrated amp, but well worth it...

Usb-c to 3.5mm earphone adapter.

Hello everybody.
I would like to buy an adapter from usb-c to 3.5mm earphone plug. I see it is a little bit more complicated than I thought- There are adapters with DAC chip, without a chip, others won't fit Samsung, etc.
I just want an adapter because of the lack of 3.5mm socket and keep listening music like I did so far. I would like to have the option to use this plug with none-Samsung phones ,too.
What kind of adapter and brands do you recommend to buy ?
Thanks in advance,
Arye

I'm not surprised, given that it's 10x the price of the Samsung one!
Samsung's is flimsy... it doesn't inspire longevity confidence.
The great Samsung flagship missing 3.5 mm jack fubar continues... lame.

Presumably because it does not incorporate a DAC. The only adaptors that work with the Note 10+ are those with a DAC in them.

Yeah it's tricky. Worse no clue how good that one is.
It was much better with a known internal phone DAC and the 3.5 mm jack. The Note 4 was a better audio platform. WTF?
Samsung really dropped the ball Special Olympics style...
Whatever the dongle DAC is I doubt it's a 32 bit Burr-Brown. Ha!
