Tutorial: Rooting, Bootloader unlocking&updating - XPERIA X10 General

How to Root and unlock the bootloader of Sony Ericsson your Xperia x10
for those stock on 1.6 or 2.1 or soft bricked Go here first: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32673686#post32673686
Vote after you have completed all the steps which you desire. and don't vote "Im confused" if you did not read carefully.
Disclaimer: I nor xda-developers.com bear any responsibility for your phone.(this phone is not bricked easy so don't worry if anything goes wrong you could just flash a new stock 2.3.3 with flashtools)
The first time may scary you like it did me the for my first time but now I can do this in my sleep.
1.download latest flashtools which is a program that you would be using as long a you want to flash custom rom from here: http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool/
2. Now in the Flashtools folder (C:\Flashtool\firmwares by default) go to the folder named drivers and you would see "flashtool-drivers" and install them (installed them all just in-case you decide to get another Xperia phone in the future.
3. On your phone go to setting>applacations>unknown sources and usb debugging in development and connect your phone to your computer with your data cable and then open flashtools.
4. root would now become available in flashtools so press it(the black unlocked lock ICON) and just wait for flashtools to reboot your phone. and you now have root access!
Installing a Recovery
In order to install a new Rom you would have to install a Recovery, according to the rom you want to install the thread would state whether you need a ClockWorkMod(CWM)(CWM5 in flashtools) or just flash through Xrecovery(0.3 in flashtools)
So in order to install a Recovery your phone must be connected to the USB port on your computer. So in flashtools click on the black square with a white cross in it and choose according.( setting>applacations>unknown sources and usb debugging in development much be on.
How to use Xrecovery.
To get into xrecovery you much power off your device, then press the power button until it vibrates, no when you see the sonyericsson logo start pressing the back button on your phone and then you would enter Xrecovery(in the version of flashtools this tutorial is based you must wait until you see the notification LED turns ) now in xrecovery you use the volume up, down, home and back buttons to navigate.
Bootloader Unlocking.
5.unplug your phone and power it off. On the top bar in flashtools plugins should now be available with the "Unlocked bootloader" option, so press it and wait until it says to connect your phone then do so by holding down your back button(on your phone) and plugging in your USB cable(don't let go until you see your notifications light come on GREEN
6. While the unlocking is taking place look out for the "you can now unplug and turn on device, then plug it again" unplug it and press the power button until vibrate and then Immediately plug it back in. Do it that one time and just leave it to finish and say "successfully applied unlock. Rebooting
7. Smile because you can now flash custom kernels and so forth and so on and also press thanks button.
Quick tip:flashing new roms usually means loosing your data(contacts, apps, etc) but you can use this to backup your data and when you're done re-download it and restore your data: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jiubang.go.backup.pro
Return to Stock 2.3.3
If you wanna go back to stock Gingerbread this is the link. download it extract it and place it in Flashtool/firmwares folder wherever you have it.

thank you very much for your help
now im up and running

I had to install drivers from the folder "\flashtools\drivers" in order to unlock the bootloader. so for many it may need to be done prior start of point 5 in Bootloader Unlock section.

Well the rom(xperia S themed, now jellycream) is on of the fastest ice roms for x10. But the only bug is that the camera is not fully functional(as in all other ics for x10 )but you could take 6mp pics. And the x10 having limited hardware it cannot really give you a really speedy ics experience. But it's stable.

This was my first time at rooting a handset and this guide (along with the versatile FlashTool) made it super easy.
I had tried following one of the older guides but kept getting stuck at the SE logon, this method worked first time.
I also took your GB rom advice and installed DonutHD; which is awesome.
Thanks Brenty.

Stuck in boot loop after trying to flash DonutHD ROM
Everything went well up until I tried to flash the custom ROM DonutHD on to it. I might have disconnected in between by mistake or something. Now its stuck in boot loop. How do I go into recovery and fix the problem! I really need to figure this out! please help me!
Thanks!

Did you have xrecovery before this bootloop? If you did pull out your battery wait a few seconds and put it back in, the press power button and when you see sonyerisson start pressing back button until you get into xrecovery. Follow the instruction to install donut(remember when installing donut rom you must install jellydonut1 first then boot when you see setup reboot again and install jellydonut2 which in my view is optional you can live without jellydonut2. Flashing both at first boot is likely why you get bootloop)

Thanks man. thats exactly what i was doing wrong. I was installing the jellydonut2 the whole time.

Im still stuck at the sony ericsson screen even after following proper instructions. I can flash the generic kernel on to it. but cant seem to get the ROM working for some reason.

Ok try to just install the jelly1 alone and then boot. Try using stock kernel for this rom. And also not to forget to wipe data factory reset and wipe cache and also the d cache and then install the rom.

A new update to the donut Rom has been released, with a fix for the black notification. If comes in the form of 2.2.9update1 for you don't need to install the whole 2.9.9 Rom again unless you come from another version. Example donut2.2.8

To get that awsome digital clock widget, take a look here.
Now let's get to installing WolfBreak his ROM.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
First of get your x10 rooted with xRecovery installed. (To root and install xRecovery very easy just use FlashTool)
You will also need baseband .54 or .58 for the best stability! I'm using after a long while baseband .58. It gives me a better battery life and performance!
Now download WolfBreak his ROM from here.
After downloading it, put the zip file on your SD-card.
Boot into xRecovery (Turn your phone of, then turn it on and on white S.E. logo press the back buttong a few times)
Now make sure you do the following to prevent battery drain and force closes:
1. Factory Reset (Full Wipe)
2. Wipe Cache
3. Wipe Dalvik Cache
4. Wipe Battery Stats
Make sure you do it in this order! Doing not can cause battery drain and force closes.
Go to install custom zip and choose the zip file you just put on your SD-card.
Let it copy the files, when it's done press on reboot phone and you're good to go!
Don't forget to say thanks!
Succes & Regards,

i love wolbreaks rom been using it for ages now. the only problem is occasionally the top half of the screen stops responding and requires reboot. the other is that the location of the hold button during a call it keeps getting pressed by my ear!

I think that not responding touchscreen is fixed in v06! Not having this problem anymore. Only bug i've found on v06 is a very annoying wi-fi bug.

What do you mean by pressing the hold button with your ear?
I can't seem to finish a phone call with this phone. It always ends up with the other side saying "hello hello, I can't hear you anymore" and then they hang up. You got the same thing?
Is there any way the proximity sensor is not 'sensitive' enough?
I think it's much easier to flash the Baseband patch included in the original thread, than changing your baseband
At least that's what I did
Maybe I'm being completely stupid here, I've had a look around and have now reflashed my x10 several times. I'm wanting to install Wolfbreaks ROM
Currently
Xperia x10i 2.1-update1
Baseband 2.0.49
Build 2.0.2.A.0.24
I've grabbed the 58 baseband linked above, no matter what I try though I get unknown and no radio
I am using the firmware linked from reindiero, then after flashing that then reflashing the 58 update, but cannot get it to work
Should I start with a different firmware?
Can I recompile the ftf file with the added parts from the 58 baseband update?
Any help appreciated
cheers

the problem is because the "Hold" button is right where my ear is and thus it always gets pressed. I went into call settings and checked "always use prox sensor" (or smthing to that effect) and that seemed to help a bit
Ignore me guys, I found a few other guides and have been able to get myself up and running. Not yet sure how much I'm loving this Rom, but I'm sure it'll grow on me, a couple of teething issues and a big world to explore
As a complete noob I found it helpful to read a lot of this post, it's basically a complete index of how tos for the x10. It allowed me to see hoe certain things gelled together
I've install it work greets but only 1bug if wifi on it goes reboot and reboot and reboot ect.
Why do it do this....or what i did wrong.
V06 soon wolfbreak is working on custom kernel and adding some nice tweaks!!! Good job wolfbreak for this beautiful rom awesome!

I wanted to post in the dev thread but I don't have the rep. Any way... I tried install on .58 base brand and after a few minutes my phone SIM pin locked. after fumbling around I gave up and flashed stock 2.1 upped to BB .55. first day crazy battery drain. Left it charging for awhile. next day zero issues so far. ATT in Michigan. much love xda much live devs. Will buy beers soon
Edit,
little unclear that after I flashed stock (using windows and flashtool) I reflashed cm 6.1.3 v054 720p using xrecovery.
Edit
Sorry watching wings distracted.... the sim pin lock survived a xrecovery restore of my back up. Prob due to .58 BB so in short I don't suggest .58 to Michigan ATT users. which may be a DUH NOOB suggestion idk

I had that problem too, it was the 'infinitiview' that FC'ed. I couldn't uninstall it, so I installed another dialer and when I chose a contact it asked to use the dialer OR the infinityview. Offcourse you DON't choose infinity
What where the issues you were having with the proximity sensor?

Thanks for your reply. so whats is the solution that you would recommend for the contacts issue?
As for the proximity sensor, is didnt respond at times. so the display was on while i was on a call. for that i just installed a app from the market which fixed it.
So now im back on 2.1 because of the contacts issue i had. too bad coz the rom was super fast than the stock 2.1
from several posts i have read i understand its the kernel file which holds the screen sensitivity and other operations speeds right. I'm sorry im kinda new to the whole things so please bare with me.
Is there a way that i can overwrite or mod the existing kernel of 2.1 stock?

I need major help

I need help getting xrecovery on my phone. Ive been trying to ultimately flash a 2.2.1 rom with no avail. the guide isnt noob enough. Somehow I got a x10i rom on my phone but not quite sure what I did. im frustrated and about to throw my phone. Second question when flashing roms on my old captivate it was much easier anyway to make the rom switching on this phone easier? please help
Grab the flashtool in the android development section, with that you can install busybox, xrecovery, root, flash new firmware etc etc. Once that is all done switching roms is piece of cake

u tried the Q&A section
yes, i been studying the flash tool for noobs all yesterday. My main problem is my first android was the captivate and all I had to was flash the desired rom so I was able to flash multiple roms at any given time. Comming to the xperia I have to worry about choosing roms, find related basebands. its very aggrevating.
I dont even know how to flash new basebands btw.
do all froyo roms come with apps2sd? I just need two features that i car ebaout app2sd and froyo rom so i can watch flash content. If the rom does not have it preinstalled how do i get a similar app for that function? I was reading on a pp called data2sd but it seems like a inferior product
Download Flashtool and install.
Make sure you have the drivers installed:
Open "ggsetup-2.2.0.10.exe" in the "Drivers" folder where you installed Flashtool to install the drivers.
Plug your phone into the computer, once the phone is recognized, click "Root".
Once done, reboot your phone.
Plug it back into the computer, once recognized, click "Ask Root Permissions".
SuperUser should ask for permissions on your phone, and say "Allow".
Then you should be able to click "xRecovery" in Flashtool that will install xRecovery on your phone.
To access xRecovery, reboot the phone and press the back key a few times when the "Sony Ericsson" screen comes up.
Volume up moves selection up.
Volume down moves selection down.
Back is back.
Menu is select.
Download ROM of your choice.
Place on SD card and boot into xRecovery.
Make backup of your current ROM.
Then select "Factory Reset", then "Wipe Cache".
Then go to "Advanced", select "Wipe Dalvik Cache"
Go back to main menu and select "Install Custom Zip", then navigate to your ROM on your SD card.
Install and reboot.
Download your desired baseband
Unpack baseband .ftf to the "Firmware" folder where you installed Flashtool.
Turn off your phone.
Click "Flash" in in Flashtool.
Select your baseband on the left and all the files for the baseband on the right.
Click "OK"
On screen instructions:
"1-Unplug the device"
"2-Power off the device"
"3-Press the back button and hold it"
"4-Plug the USB cable"
Once that window goes away, you can let go of the back button.
You should now have the baseband you selected.
If you have any issues with no signal after a few reboot of your device, go to "Developers Tools" select "Bad Behavior" then "Crash System Server"
This should fix it.
If not, check baseband requirements and ensure you flashed the proper one or refer to here for cobrato's baseband patches.

Not all ROMs have app2sd on them.
You'll have to browse the development thread for the one that you like.
Also, make sure you have at least a class 8 16gb SD card for optimum performance.
I have the drivers installed, because my pc and phone can interact with each other and I can share files among them. Would it be wise to delete the program and start all over from scratch

This is what you should have for firmware. .ftf files in the Firmware folder.
Make sure you select all of the .sin files on the left
You can't flash firmware from xRecovery. Only in Flashtool.
Is your ROM in .zip format? Some developers have them in a .rar and need to have the .zip extracted.
I actually had to click ask for root permission 2x before i could allow it on my phone. right now I have xrecovery on my phone, bussy box, root all working Im trying to flash .58 from .49 baseband and then install a rom and ill be done so im like 80% done thanks for guys help Btw

If it's a rom, then it should be in a .zip format which you should flash it through xRecovery.

[GUIDE] How to use ODIN for dummies

I didnt find any step-by-step tutorials about this on xda, which is kind of weird and because i have spare time and its 3:19am I decided to make this tutorial
EDIT: If you are coming from eclair, install a froyo ROM and make sure it has a bootloader. Remember, if you cancel an installation that changes your bootloader, or stop it in anyway, you may hardbrick your phone. MAKE SURE YOU DON'T CANCEL OR TRY TO PAUSE THE INSTALLATION, JUST LET IT FLASH SMOOTHLY. use a laptop if you can, just in case an unlucky power surge would stop the flashing process
EDIT2: Here is a good Tutorial video from xda user Tejas Ahobala (if you don't know what he is doing at the start, dont worry. He is doing a factory reset before flashing):
EDIT3: A word from one of the commenters:

Thanks a ton for this guide. I had rooted my phone a couple of months back but wasn't really able to figure out how to use ODIN to install a custom ROM all this while. A few pointers for others noobs...
1. The tip about some custom ROMs requiring a wipe data is important.
2. If you're already using CWM, use the 'shutdown' option and not the 'reboot' option when the phone reboots during the flashing process.

Here we go...
______________________________________________________________
Terms and words -->
Flashing ==> means installing a new ROM
ROM ==> is the operating system, any version of modded or un-modded android
Android ==> Google made operating system!!!
ODIN ==> Here, it means the program that you can use to flash ROMs on your phone (the phone im going to use here is samsung galaxy 3)
Soft brick ==> No, not the construction brick, this means you've got no working operating system or you have one but its damaged and you can't use it, so you cant see your homescreen, you only see a boot-loop when it wants to come up. You can view your recovery and boot loader (The download screen) when soft bricked, so you can easily fix this problem by re-flashing.
Hard brick ==> Similar to the construction brick, your phone with little hope of recovery without sending to the samsung base for repairs To avoid hard bricks, open the .TAR file which contains your ROM using winRAR, and check if it contains sbl.bin and boot.bin files or not. If it does contain, and you are nervous or this is your first time flashing etc, simply go and flash Kyrillos' ROM or Kyora ROM instead. (I'm not advertising, just stating a couple of ROMs that I know are safe) these ROMs can only soft brick your phone should the worse happen and there is no chance of hard brick
______________________________________________________________
Should this guide be followed carefully, nothing harmful can happen to your phone. Yet I wont take responsibility if something happens to your phone.

Remember to Backup your contacts and apps!
**************************************______________________________________________________________
Stuff to download:
1) ODIN and a .OPS file, found Here, Or alternatively here.
2) The ROM, depending on what ROM you want there are different versions available. check This thread, the kitchens/ stock ROM packs part for stock ROMs, or if you want to try a custom ROM, try any other. I personally use Kyrillos' ROM, or Hillbeast's KyoraROM. Marcellusbe is praised highly by all for giving us the Cyanogenmod.
______________________________________________________________
1) Extract 'Flash tools.rar'
2) open Odin multi-downloader. This is how it's meant to look like.

}
NOTE: Sometimes some random error message with a korean writing pops up. dont worry, it's nothing, just press OK every time you see it
3) Press the OPS button located in the 'Select OPS' section, as shown in the image below. NOTE THAT YOU SHOULD ONLY USE THIS OPS FILE IF YOU HAVE SAMSUNG GALAXY 3. YOU MAY ENCOUNTER SERIOUS PROBLEMS IF YOU USE THIS OPS FILE WITH A DIFFERENT PHONE. (works with i5800 and i5801 as far as I know.)
4) Browse for the 'apollo_0531.ops' that came in the rar file with odin and select it.
5) Tick the One Package option located on the left side of the application.
6) The ROM that you have downloaded should have a .tar extension. If its a .rar file, open it. If it has a .tar file inside it, extract it and use it, but if it has some weird ass stuff in it that only Jesus and Chuck Norris understand the meaning of, you need to use the 'free rar extraction frog' application to turn it into a .tar file. Download it for free from here.
7) The above step was just to confirm if you have the right file, so you dont get any errors. Now just select One Package button that is highlighted in the picture and browse and select the .tar file.
8) Make sure you have ticked everything that I have ticked. Use picture from part 5.
9) Go to your phone. go to Settings->Applications->Development and tick USB debugging if its not already ticked.
10) make sure you have the device drivers, just install Samsung KIES from HERE to make sure you do have the drivers. If the page doesn't show, just Google 'download samsung KIES'
11) turn the phone off, take the USB out, and press volume up, home button (the big fat button in between the menu and back buttons) and the power button together. hold them until you see the 'FORCE UPLOAD BY KEY PRESSING' screen. Now plug the USB back in.
12) Odin will immediately recognize your phone, and there will be a yellow label, like so:
13) Double check that you haven't missed anything.
14) Press start! HERE
15) You will see a blue download screen, saying please don't interrupt. PLEASE DON'T INTERUPT IT!!!!
16) The process will finish and system will reboot one or two times. go have some tea and come back 15 minutes later. You should have the Rom of your desire working on your phone.
NOTE: Some custom ROMs require you to wipe system data and then wipe cache. don't forget to do that! restart phone after wiping the data etc. If you've flashed a custom Rom and the device is showing a stupid triangle with an exclamation mark inside it, dont panic, press the menu button and you will see the menu (This menu is called the recovery menu).
EDIT4: How to flash kernels (on galaxy3/apollo/5800/5801)
METHOD 1==>
1--> you go to the kernel thread and download their kernel. it is to be a .tar file. (eg g3mod.tar)
2--> follow steps 3 to 5 from above tutorial
3--> put phone in download mode (step 11) and connect with usb
4--> in odin, select the 'select as one package file' option and browse for the kernel .TAR file. select it.
5--> check youve done everything. YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE EVERYTHING IN THE TUTORIAL EXCEPT THIS TIME INSTEAD OF USING A ROM YOU'RE USING A KERNEL!!
6--> There is no need for wipe unless otherwise stated by the developer.
7--> congratz man, you got yourself a new kernel!!
OPTIONAL 8--> download setcpu from xda (you can also download off market and pay for it for the donation)
its really usefull, it lets you control how much your phone uses the cpu and you can undervolt the cpu etc, you will find more info on the setcpu thread.
METHOD2==> (Only works for some kernels)
1--> go to the g3mod website and download the .zip version of the kernel. (there is a .tar and .zip)
2--> put the .zip in the root of your sd card
3--> go to recovery mode by either using kyrillos' rom (press & hold power
then choose reboot into recovery) or by turning the phone off and pressing volume up and down and the power button all together. select install .zip from sdcard and then select your .zip you downloaded before.
4--> it will install. no wipe needed unless the dev says so. reboot. HAVE FUN!!
HOW TO FLASH ROMS USING SYSTEM.IMG
1) Download system.img from safe source, preferably provided by dev, or any other trusted member who knows what they are doing.
2) Flash g3mod ROM.
3) Copy the system.img and paste into this path in your sdcard:
sdcard/android/data/g3mod/roms/**there are several folders here, just paste the system.img to the folder that suits the rom's name**
4) Boot into recovery.
5) Go to Multiboot.
6) Select desired ROM.
7) Done

all it took was about two hours
i may make vids about rooting and stuff as well, but im lazy and i think rudolf already done that, so im too late
the reason i made this was that when i first got my phone, it was february last year and the phone was running the eclair (so it sucked ) an i was being pushed by my friends that why i didnt have foryo and it took me literally something like 7 hours to find a 'followable' guide on flashing the xxjpa or something... anyway i thought having a really noob proof guide will be useful too ppl like me a year ago
nicely written
i was searching for tutorial like this 9 monhs ago and never found it with such detailed description

Thanks for such a great tutorial.
I have a question.
Does sd card and sim card also needs to be taken out before one start flashing?
Also how long does this procedure take (the flashing process)?
Thanks

after flashing it will work like newly released from factory you can restore and all but depending on if you wiped device after the flasing process you will lose data, thats why i said make a backup of your important stuff before flashing
thnx bscraze for answering peoples questions while i was away

hold volume down button while booting up, then hold volume up after fastboot is selected to activate it.
after that, you use fastboot commands on your computer.
But I was using the automatic unlocker . I still need to put in commands myself?

I believe the automatic unlocker will pause and should give clear instructions ask you to do specific things that have to be done by a human (power down and reboot into certain mode, etc), you just need to follow these instructions. After that, you just hit enter to continue.
If you are unable to follow these instructions, probably it's too much for you...
To reboot into fastboot, for example: press the power button, to turn off the phone; then hold the volume down button, press the power button again, you'll see "Fastboot", then release volume down, press volume up, you enter the "fastboot" mode
Too much for me lol I know how to get to all the menus that its telling me to go to but nothing else happens. the guide said nothing about typing in anything which is why I choose it. Especially since the automatic root worked easy as pie ...

You want help, laugh when people who are trying to help say it might be too much for you, yet you provide us close to absolute no information.
What guide are you following? We might know, but it still is your job to provide a link.
What is the step you are stuck at?
Why, what isn't going according to plan? What do you see happening in your sceen / phone?
If you can't explain properly, provide some screenshots.
You say you can get to all the menus it tells you to, yet in the first step you can't seem to get into fastboot. Your speech is unclear and what you want is hard to understand.
My opinion is you aren't ready to unlock your bootloader. You know very little about your phone or how it works. That's the community's fault really, with all these automatic scripts, which are really nice if you know what you're doing, but end up promoting easy ignorance in people like you.
I just hope in a month or two you are not one of those writing "OMG, please, I arrempted to downgrade by SBF and know my phone won't boot, what gives???"
Read up on some information a learn how these things work. It is the best you can do. Owning an android device and modding it can be great fun, but it does require some effort on your part. If I were you, I would learn how to unlock my bootloader with pudding, just to understand what is actuallly going on.
Either that, or you can learn how to ask for help properly and politely. Your choice.
Also, wrong section, This is not Q&A.
My girlfriend was rushing me so I tried to type up something quick but I used this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182871
As you can see like I can see it does not say I need to type anything in the cmd (which I have seen in YouTube videos and isn't that hard) but thought hey automatic sounds good so I gave it a try I don't have any problems getting the phone to fast boot or rsd as I've used the stock recovery to clear cache in an attempt to fix something. The part I'm stuck at is step 6
You are right I don't know alot about android which is why I didn't start messing with my phone the day I got it but I've been all over this site (well the atrix at least) and YouTube.
I appreciate any help and sorry for the misplaced thread

So, let's see if I got this, you are having trouble at the part it says it should restart? Or before that? After you choose the number and press enter, what happens?
This could be a driver problem... If windows is not recognizing a device, it's common... Which windows are you using? I used to have some problems on XP and vista...

I actually had to use a Vista system to get this to work.
Now, when the instructions say it should "Restart", at that point, have you been in "Fastboot" yet? Have you been to the part where you have to enter your "Unique ID"?
This is important to know because throughout the bootloader-unlocking process the phone should be restarted a couple of times. It sounds like you have at least gotten through the part where it flashes "Pudding" but it sounds like you haven't done the "fastboot" part yet.
Are you referring to "Step 6" in the actual post or within the script? If the power button does not work then just pull the battery. As long as it is not in the process of doing something you should be fine.
I also want to point out that the program you are using only requires that you type in your Unique ID, everything else is automated, not to mention the file contains everything you need including adb, fastboot, RSDlite, Superuser, Pudding, and a working recovery so it makes it very easy for the end user to not have to find everything on their own. The script unlocks the bootloader, roots your phone, and flashes CWM recovery.
Either way, please provide more details if you are still having issues. Good luck.

I wasn't blaming vista I was just saying cause I've had problem with that is in the past.
I've basically done nothing haven't flashed or wiped my phone yet I was basically stuck at or around the first step cause it first asks for RSD protocol and then it says restart phone but the power button has no effect why in that mode nd when I pull the battery to manually put it in fast boot nothing happens nd I get some kind of batch error when it trays to get my unique id...
But got the computer back today so I'm gonna work on it again

Actually, I followed the method you linked (old netbook running XP) and got a softbrick on the automatic reboot after flashing pudding. I was so busy watching RSD Lite do its thing that I didn't catch that my phone had actually rebooted; it selected fastboot mode on its own so I was able to issue the unlock command. It took.
"7.Plug your device into your computer. RSD Lite should recognize your device and say “Model: NS Flash Olympus” and “Connected…” The acronym 'NS' may be different for your device people!!"
its not doing this(i have rsdlite 4.5.5 because i cant find 5.5)
edit: got on to next problem

If you dont like to test dont leave kalo for now...although 928 is very good i dont recomended to ppl who don't want to test things..if you want although i found this version much better than the previous and no i dont have problem with titanium i used 5.4.0 and restore is working properly..and yeah root is out of the question we don't post custom roms without root only officials!!
Don't use for U8800-51

You have an U8800-51, forget ANY Rom with number B927 or B928. For ICS, only use the Aurora 4.1 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1532662)
Good luck.

b928
B928 is excellent i highly recommend it.But after i flashed step one phone went into bootloop. So i copied step 2 in the sd and made a forced update pressing vol+ vol- and powerbutton and everything worked ok.Step 3 went smoothly.
