What is the best ROM and Kernel for S1? And if I install that kernel is the limit in messaging removed? I hope someone will help me. I also do not know how to install this rom and kernel. Thank you
Please help me (
As you don't seem to be experimented in flashing ROMs, I would suggest that you stick with Samsung stock firmware.
The latest firmwares for your region can be found here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102881. The whole flashing process is described, so you shouldn't encounter any problem.
You can also test CyanogenMod, although the flashing process is a little bit more difficult. The thread for CM9 (Ice Cream Sandwich) is here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1592131.
As for the messaging limit, it's not kernel related. But are you talking about MMS conversion, or limitation to number of recipients ?

Hi i'm a newbie on this forum.. im making thi thread because i want to have some help with my case... i bought samsung galaxy s plus with android 2.33 gingerbread on in. i'd want to update it to ICS 4.0 (or other ICS versions)
but i don't know how... i've been searching for that on the net.. and the only thing i found is installing ISC 4.0 on samsung galaxy s I9000.. i think it installling ISC 4.0 on i9001 can be different and i dont wanna damage my phone .
First of all i did this [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1253707]
so i guess i've got the phone rooted and thats the first step of all the rom modifications..
what do i have to do next? do i have to update my Kernel or android to 2.35 .. my current configuration is: Firmware version: 2.33
Baseband version: I9001XXKG3
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-pref
[email protected]#1
Build number
GINGERBREAD.XXKG3
PLEASE HELP!! i'd sppreciate it ^^
There is no ICS for 9001 unfortunately. And it's not in sight.
As the phones have a completely different hardware board (the i9001 has more in common with HTC Desire HD e.g. than with i9000) porting 9000 > 9001 is almost impossible.
Also some very good Devs already hard bricked their phones while trying to complete a cyanogenmod port. Makes it not very easy.
awww it's so good that i didn't upgraded it....
i don't want my phone to get bricked... by the way can i upgrade it to some kind of newer version?? maybe 2.36?? or 2.35 can i do that?? can anyone tell me how?
There are some threads pinned in this section which will teach you how to flash a new rom and which will help you to select the right one. Just have a look.

Viel danke fur dieses Antwort! Es ist sehr wichtig fur mich!
before u start flashing anything, make sure u read the rules first, and what stuff to post where
And also have a WORKING backup ready... just in case
even though this is in the wrong section, just for info, i was talking to one of the devs from DHD today about porting ICS from his build, we came to a conclusion that replacing gpu libs and boot.img , plus some build.prop modifications and we might get a booting version, the only problem i'm afraid of is the board.platform , both arc (or arc s) and DHD have msm7x30 while we have msm7k (like SGS). ofcourse, we'd also need some1 for kernel development. as i'm not dying to get ICS the project is on hold for now, but if anyone decided to give it a try i'd be glad to help
p.s. he said one interesting thing that i didn't know before, since our device is relatively new , our drivers and libs are made to work on ICS (if i understood it right).
I don't know if some of you know, but another ROM, that I didn't see in XDA based in NS port of MIUIV4 2.3.9 ( Android 4.0.3 ) is available here ::
http://miuiandroid.com/community/threads/miui-v4-for-i9000.15461/
And It's for me the best port, just can say, give it a try
I don't know...but this thread should to be in development?

Don't know, cause this thread is info thread, not dev thread (?)
If I've to post in dev sec, just let me know it
You've posted in the right section. Coz its just info over a rom thats not posted here in xda. The rom creator would get better traffic on his rom if he'd post it here.
Thanks for confirmation, I'll contact Andy to see if he wants to post here
Kinkkaz where is your french pack for andy 2.3.9 ?

Just flash latest stock fw with Odin and don't forget PIT file. If you need the latest for your country, flash an older fw with Odin and use kies to update your fw.
Alright everyone, Angelos from www.roms-db.com contacted me.
And i'm happy to let you know that after high demand, he's in the final
stages of adding Galaxy Note roms to his database of custom roms http://galaxynote.roms-db.com.
He would greatly appreciate it if everyone could check out his site and give some feedback if any information is wrong or missing. Also when there are any updates not mentioned (for example the android version (4.0.3
...))
The site for the Galaxy Note roms is http://galaxynote.roms-db.com
Thanks Angelos!
I would appreciate it if a moderator could make this a sticky since it's going to be a great help to the forum and the members/cooks!
Cheers!
excuse my curiosity, but what would be the benefits of that site compared to sammobile and dr ketan's thread?

If you check his site and see for yourself you'll understand. It's nothing like ketan's thread which only lists the official Samsung roms. I'm talking about custom roms updated daily. If you try searching for updated roms you'll find them in just a sec. It's easier for us it's easier for the cooks and it's a great way to find all the roms meant for your specification's (Touchwiz, CM9, MIUI, GB, ICS, JB, etc...) since his site is being updated daily and has the most complete package on all the roms available for HTC HD2, Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S II, HTC Sensation and HTC EVO 4G. Why not Galaxy Note? Anyway, he told me he might do it if more people would like this new feature, why would anyone say no?
Nice site and very well organized

very neat and easy to find and use...please guys head over there and see for yourself.
Everyone please press the contact me button and tell him if you are interested in a Galaxy Note page. http://www.roms-db.com/
Thanks Everyone

I Know that, but users and Dev can write what they know and with changes they have discoverd on there new firmwares!
There are only 2 official Roms for Note2 , 4.1.1 which is the official and leak Samsung 4.1.2 .
You can find the threads on Original Android Development and there you can see from users the changes .
Vatis
You can look for videos on youtube that describe various findings in stock rooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooom updates

But it still would be much better for all to find the info in 1 Post rather than looking in several other posts with 100 pages to find some info
Hello community,
I have a GT-P3113 Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0 USA/WiFi) I have purchased, and I was curious to know what is the correct PDA file for Ice Cream? I checked out Samfirmware* and there are multiple copies, and I'm trying to flash the correct one. If anyone could help me out, I would appreciate it.
Thank's in advance.

Version P3113UECLK7 is Jelly Bean.
So anything below that stating 4.0.4 would do. Preferably P3113UEBLH2 since it is the 'latest' Ice Cream Sandwich ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2007876&highlight=stock+ics this is the thread I used after I first tried a Jelly Bean based ROM and didn't like so I went back to ICS.
Thank you for your support, I've seen those threads and I was just making sure it was correct.
Topic solved.
