New Galaxy S3 - Galaxy S III General

I am getting my new S3 tomorrow. I live in the Netherlands and the provider is KPN.
Now there are 2 forums for the S3. The Galaxy S III Original Android Development and Galaxy S III Android Development.
What is the difference between the 2?

So the first thing you do is post in the wrong section second is not to use search question asked thousands of times .
Original means the development is original the other is not original as it takes bits from other sources basic cut and paste roms .
jje

I don't get either how he could ever think this post deserved to be in original development but ok :s

Well, as a very strong potential buyer for the Galaxy Tab, this is still interesting news, makes it seem very likely it will ship with 2.2.
This does not belong in the Development section
Please read the "Read Me" and leave this section for people actually developing for Android - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=729511

With all due respect this is the right place to post
So all the other beta firmwares or posts regarding upcomimg betas r in the wrong place too
Or r u just pissed that I was wrong

Not too sure... he seems to be going around telling people to stop posting about ROMs in the dev section, which in my opinion is the perfect place for them.
What your posting is news, it has nothing to do with development.
This section is for people developing for android. There is a General section for things like this.

Galaxy S III Android Roms database

Hi guys,
Just letting you know that I added a section for Galaxy S III roms in http://www.roms-db.com
I just addded all the current Galaxy S III roms that are listed on XDA.
The rom information is automatically refreshed from the "Galaxy S III Android Development" thread every 15 minutes.
Please have a look at it and let me know if you see anything strange (I'am almost sure that I missed somethiing )
Thanks!!!
That cool m8. Thanx
Is it possible to add themes in a section below roms.
Themes and apps section for gs3 on xda is a mess already and it's only a month old
great idea..if ppl actually use this "tool" lol. btw i think you are missing cm9 on the list.

[POLL/Q] How many Devs will move to the Note II?

Hey Folks!
Knowing that there actually is the "one and only - everything belongs here - Master - Uber - Thread" for Note II stuff, I woke up this morning suddendly being such a shamless guy who thinks, that this topic deserves an own thread!
As it became very important for my purchasing habit to know if there will be a developing community (and I think that I´m not alone with this strange thoughts), I would like to ask the devs, cooks, themers etc. if they see any (great) future for the Note II and if they are planning to switch or at least to "touch" the Note II in near future.
If this poll should become reliable, I would like to ask everyone who is NOT working on ROMs or Apps to NOT touch the poll :highfive:
Hehe, okay this is very encouraging :cyclops:
gonna report the thread as its well known that theres one already to post everything about note 2... why wouldnt they develop for note 2? most devs does have and support several devices at once
and therese already a note 2 dedicated forum

I don´t know if you have read the content of this thread, but I´m pretty sure that hardly any dev will look into the general thread...and furthermore: it is not possible to start a poll when I´m not the OP of a thread. And it would become hard to get an insight about the number of devs interested in the Note II when this question is asked in a all-you-can-think-of-thread.
I have seen a couple threads closed because note2 general thread that I did not agree with. Putting them in a general thread gets them burried and then no one sees them. Rubber stamping note2 threads is not a good solution. Unfortunately I think this thread is well suited for the Note2 General thread.

+1 , spot on nianfur
Would be nice to know, which devs will be continuing support, perhaps they could simply tell us in their rom, thread , but then again look how old the s2 is and the dev is still full on. That's what's so great about xda, even the old hd2, HTC diamond and desire hd have lots of development, often lots of the new updates in the later models can be ported across, ie we have some s3 elements likewise the same will happen with the note 2.

He's trying to muster more than 10 posts, so he can ask for ETAs and futures™ in the Dev forum. :fingers-crossed:

I9305 Needs it's own section.

The official release date is 2 days from now. In which I plan to buy and root and update with custom roms but as
it is very hard to find anything for this specific device.
Cheers in advance
Mooch.
+1 on this.
It's been out in my country for a week now and all I've been able to do is root it.
I searched the forums to find someone ask for this but in the end it gets locked!

Yes because that makes all sorts of sense.
+1 own section needed
+1 here!
I agree, mine has been ordeded will be here on Tuesday. Can't find much in the way of ROMs etc. I know orange will cripple it with a tone of (cr)apps.
If 9300 roms don't work on it, it does make sense to have a new section.

The thing is that most developers who want to develop on the SGS3 got the normal version when it was first released and will unlikely buy another phone for "minor improvements". The same happened with the release of SGS and SGS+, the latter had almost no development at all.

The threads about this are getting locked because you guys are not using the correct medium to request a new section.
Here is not the place as the people in charge of it are unlikely to ever even see this thread. Please follow the guidelines for requesting a new section. This is the proper place to request a new section, not here.
That's exactly why the other thread was closed and that was the same explanation I gave. So what is it that's not clear from my reason why that thread was closed?

I have used a tonne of forums to understand how they work. The forum wouldn't exist if people didn't ask questions or post their concerns.
It's about helping people and not keeping all your new found knowledge to yourself.
If by better you mean faster, more powerful, better battery life etc then the 8 core.
If you mean which will have better support for custom ROMs and software, the usa veriant with snapdragon quad core.
If I was going ti buy one it would be the 8 core but I'm going to hold out to see what nexus 5 and note 3 bring as s4 isn't enough of an upgrade from s3 but my 1gb ram is limiting and I will defo upgrade this year.

Well that's easy. One is super awesome, and the other one is absolutely terrible. But you get the decide which is which.
On a separate but related note, as others have said, this has been discussed many many times here and has resulted in quite a few locked threads, misinformation, and mini flame wars.
That's why, here at Xda there's this little rule about searching before posting...

Only chances of that would be a tablet. Chances of a new phone are 1%.
