Accessing recovery via bootloader menu - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As far as I can tell, I have sucessfully rooted my Nexus 7 as well as unlocking the bootloader and flashinf CWM. However, when I access the bootloader (by pressing power + vol up + vol down) and then select 'Recovery', CWM does not boot. Anyone else having this problem?
I can still get in using 'adb reboot recovery', so looks like it's flashed and hasn't reverted to stock, but just can't get in via the bootloader menu....

This a known issue that has been discussed in many threads, if you plug it into a computer then select recovery from the bootloader it will work fine. Use a reboot recovery widget of some kind if you are currently booted into your rom and want to get to recovery from there.

Ya i'm still waiting on a fix with this

Cannot get into recovery with ClockWorkMod 6.0.1.0. Is there a way to fix this?

I updated to 6.0.1.0 with Rom Manager (not touch). I can get into recovery via rom manager but not when booting. When I boot I hold down volume button and power on. Recovery is an option but when I choose it and press power button the Nexus just hangs and never goes into recovery. I end up holding down power button to reboot. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks!
no way yet from bootloader to CWM unless you plug the tab to a pc and execute fastboot boot nameofrecovery.img
From android OS, use ROM manager app as you already mentioned.

Thank you for reply. Very odd. I wonder if this will be resolved somehow. Does anyone run the touch version of CWM on the Nexus 7 and does it work normally from boot (without being plugged in)?

It's a problem with the bootloader, not CWM. Touch is no different, unfortunately.
Most custom ROMs have 'reboot to bootloader' built into the power menu, so no cables are needed
This happened to me as well, it was after i flashed a Tablet UI patch in cwm and it somehow deleted my boot options to reboot into recovery, rom manager will not allow me to reboot into recovery or any other options through the app on CleanRom rom * must do it through Rom boot options >.<

[Q] Help booting into Recovery

Hi guys, I've unlocked my bootloader and flashed CWM from:http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager, I've flashed and didn't get any errors, boot to Android and did "adb reboot recovery", I get in a screen with the android with a red triangle, stayed for some mins and nothing, I turned off and boot to Android, turned off again and turn on by Power + Vol -, Select Recovery and samething...
obs: I used this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2266654 and downloaded this SuperSU: http://download.chainfire.eu/345/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.51.zip
How can I boot to recovery?
Another thing does SuperSU v1.51 works on Android 4.3?
Thanks
The screen with just a red triangle is stock recovery. Press and hold power and press volume up and you should get the stock recovery menu.
Try flashing CWM from fastboot manually as it's not taking with ROM Manager (which I don't rate anyway)

If you have root use ROM manager to flash the recovery
From my BLACKED OUT N4
I've reflashed CWM and enter Recovery Mode not booting to Android, flashed SuperSU and set CWM to prevent to Android not flash stock recovery, everything working fine

[Q] Can't boot recovery with button combo

It's very strange - I can't get to recovery by holding down power + vol-up + home buttons. The message comes up that it's booting recovery but then disappears for a second and then either powers off or boots normally.
I can boot into recovery through the toolkit/odin/goomanager however and I've also found that I can boot into recovery if I first go into download mode, press vol-down to cancel download and boot normally and then immediately press the vol-up/power/home button combination.
I have TWRP installed but I previously had philz CWM and this problem happened with both. If i remember rightly the first recovery I tried to install was the original CWM with odin but when I booted into recovery it was still the stock recovery. I'm not sure if this information is necessary though.
Can anyone help me with this or why this could be happening?

When was the last time you updated SuperSU?
Go to the playstore and download/install the latest version reboot the phone normally and after reboot reboot into recovery.
Good luck!
Thanks, that worked. I can now get into recovery with the button combo.

[Q] Skrilax's ICS Bootloader V9: can't boot to fastboot or recovery mode

Hello,
I'm on the way (hopefully) to updating my stock HC A500 to ICS. As a first step, I've successfully flashed this bootloader: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1619913
However, I can't enter neither fastboot nor recovery mode, which I'm supposed to be able to do by powering the tab with VolUp and VolDown button pressed simultaneously. I've tried this numerous times, at first with V8 bootloader, then updated to the latest V9 and tried again. Still no luck.
Executing adb reboot bootloader merely reboots the tablet and doesn't enter the bootloader mode either (I suppose I need ICS for that to work?).
Please advise. Apparently, I can't proceed with installing the ICS image until I can boot into fastboot mode.
Once you flash the bootloader, you must "immediately" flash your chosen ics rom via recovery mode, power vol down.
Once you have your ics Rom flashed, you are able to enter fastboot with power vol up. Does that make sense??
