Moving on and Thank you! - Desire HD General

I realize that if everyone would open a thread like this it would overflow the forum but this has to be done
The DesireHD forum was my first XDA experience! Never in my life i was part of an internet community that I was so fond of. So many nice and helpful people, everyone helping each other and everyone working with passion and not motivated by greed. This is how the world should be
I'm just glad that i am/was part of the DHD XDA experience. You guys made my device 100x better than the way HTC released it. I didnt contribute all that much apart from some themes and hopefully helpful posts, so you guys gave me more than i had to offer in return and all that for free! That is something very rare in our materialistic world.
So before i drift off into philosophical and sociological thoughts about our society i just wanna say:
THANK YOU XDA DESIRE HD FORUM!!!
just bought myself some sexy blue SGS III and i really hope to see some of you guys there in the future

Unfortunately I have to close this. As your right the forum would overflow with these threads.
Thank you & I hope you enjoy your new handset.
BTW, you'll have to change your sig now

You guys just plain rock

I apologize if there's some other place for this that I haven't found but I felt compelled to let the devs here know how much I appreciate your work.
1 day after finding the site I've got new fonts, a better camera app and soon to be a faster phone.
Thanks for all the poking around you've done and apps and tools you've created. I love this platform.
You are welcome. Enjoy

As a matter of fact I agree with the OP. Just wanted to say thanks!

^^ who the F is that and why is he/she trying to take credit for ANYTHING?
I agree with the OP too... unfortunately most of those who actually contribute don't read the General section.
I'm just waiting to see how fast even a simple "thank you" thread turns into a flamefest, heh.
I'll might as well start
"OMG WHY are you cluttering our General forum!!!1111one. If you only SEARCHED you would have found a dozen of threads just like this one. This isn't how XDA used to be..."
All kidding aside, even though there's plenty of unnecessary drama and flame wars on the Vibrant forums, all of that is such a small percentage compared to the sheer amount of awesome work we have seen in such a short time from so many people, developers and non-developers alike. With 2.2 looming and beefy hardware that should stay relevant for quite some time, I'm looking forward to even more quality work coming out of the XDA community for our beloved device.

Thank you

Just wanted to say how much I love these forums and how great everyone is with helping out and contributing. My last three phones have all been wonderful experiences due in no small part to the work of everyone on these forums. You guys all deserve a pat on the back.

Thanks brotha'
Your a part of the great community here as well so make sure to pat yourself on the back as well.
Even tho I wont meet you guys irl I really do appreciate all the insight everyone brings. Even if I disagree with somebody I still appreciate them even bringing an idea I didn't have before to my head. Its also amazing to have such a helpful community that will help each other out just for the good of the group (like a wolfpack). I continuously make people on here my contacts just so I can read up on their posts and what they had to say since I respect their opinions so much.
There is strength in numbers guys, and this group is one of the strongest out there.
Since I haven't made one of these threads in awhile either I have to say thank you guys for being a great group that I can rely upon when need be and a great source of insight
I'd also like to say thanks to all the people who've answered my silly nooby questions since Febuary. And also big thanks to developers like Enomther.
I also benefited a lot from the xds-developers gang. Thanks a lot !
It started with a HTC Diamond running Windows Mobile. I've flashed roms, modified the phone and downloaded a lot of software.
Now that I have a N1 coming up in a few days, I'm busy learning about Android and understanding the N1 to make the most of it. On xda-developers of course !
THANKS - THANKS
I too would like to say a big THANK YOU ALL!!!
If I win the lottery I'm going to build a huge developer center and get every dev on overtime... Well compensated of course lol

I notice that this is your first post and I am wondering what you'd think about becoming a more active member of the boards and helping people along (as you have been !!)
I would like to help anyone I can. Im still learning myself but I would like to share what I have found. I will surf the boards and see what input I can give. "All hail android"

From the Moderator to All In this Forum

As the Moderator of this Forum, I want to thank all of you for being such a great Group. I find this Group one of the best in XDA, helpful, considerate and dedicated to the "let's try to improve our experience" on the Vibrant.
Now the S3 is coming ..... we will see many leave and move on...... This is to be expected...... but I am always sorry to see the waning of a great group of people...... such as all of you.
You know, the Vibrant has had an amazing run of support, more so than almost any other device.... I still love my Vibrant......even though I have a G-Nex and a Note...... I learned most skills on the Vibe....... and still love using it.
Anyway, Here at XDA we appreciate all the developers, Modders, Themers, and all the other contributing members such as yourselves...... that make XDA.
Thanks for making my job easy.......... Oka1 (moderator)
Thank you for your kind words, at first glance I though you were saying your goodbyes, but not the case.
People will leave but people will join, those phones have to go somewhere don't you think? Your right on the support, who knew this phone could get froyo, gingerbread even ICS, thank you devs.
Thank you oka1 for making this forum a more enjoyable one. Cheers

Yes, thank you to all the helpful people in this forum. Also thank you oka1, for you're one of the good people, you know based on other good people's feedback. You have certainly helped calm this forum from what it was a while back.
So, here's to all the helpful people..., to you oka1, one of the good people, to people who have moved on and people who are still here. Here's to all the countless evenings and mornings spent on this forum. Here's to tomorrow. Thank you.

I had a choice of getting a Nexus S or a Vibrant and had a few days to decide. I used those days to browse both fora. I am glad to say that I picked the right one. I have met many good people here and hope that the crop of newer users will be as cordial, intelligent and helpful.
This is way more useful than my tablet forum (oka1 is the mod there too). Over there it is hard to post anything without 15 responses about how you are wrong or that doesn't work for me. It makes it real frustrating. But it also makes me appreciate the Vibrant threads much, much more.
I think partly it is due to the fact that we didn't really get any official updates.
Yeah we got Froyo after much gnashing of teeth, but it wasn't OTA.
It was more of an afterthought especially since you needed to use Kies to install it. But even without Samsung/T-Mobile support, we were among the first phones running ICS. How does that even happen?
It is because we are all hungry for all the improvements that have come available for our phones, and we are extremely thankful and grateful to those that provide them to us. We were all in the same boat, and that led to an appreciation that some of the other forums do not have (or even understand).
The nature of the internet is inherently selfish, as most people demonstrate when they feel relatively anonymous, but we really do have a good community here.
I have asked a lot of questions along the way since I joined. Some were noobish, some were dumb, but no one mocked me for asking. Other people just helped get me on the right track. You can't ask for more than that, and to have those kinds of interactions in an online forum is remarkable. That spirit has led to many users becoming developers and creating new kernels and ROMs for this phone, and giving back to the community.
Also, it helps that the hardware in our phones is still relevent after 2 years...high end specs help a lot. People just seem to want to dev for this phone. As much as I would love to get a new phone such as the One S or the GS3, it is hard to justify when this phone is still chugging along just fine.
Thank you Oka1. If this is one of the best groups on XDA, then you've got to be one of the best moderators on XDA. It's been a good run, two years, and it's been an inspiring two years at that. I've learned things I never knew before, been helped when stuck or inquisitive, and in turn I've done my best to help the community in return. You guys are great, all of you here on the Vibrant forum (except the guy who ranted at mr_psycho). Woodrube, xriderx66, dougfresh, Oka1, and s15274n are just a few of the people I've been given the privilege to converse with here. Of course there are others, but then I'd practically be naming everyone in the Vibrant community!
It's funny, one day I was asking how to remove CWR because I thought it was bad for my phone and then the next I was flashing custom roms... One day I was asking people how to install Miui on my phone and then the next I was making a guide about it. I've leaned a lot here and thus I thank all of you guys.
Since I'm not good with speeches and what not. I love you all! Seriously. This was my second smartphone, I had a meh experience with the G1 and this has been the best, and I KNOW that nothing can be better than this.
Even if you are leaving, be sure to come back once in a while and say hello
I was such a noob entering into the flashing world had the g1 and hd2. Wasn't impressed with either (didn't know about any of this stuff) when I got my vibrant and was curious I stumbled into xda,edt and the axura forums. Wow was I clueless on the capabilities of these phones. As the 21st nears and I know the gs3 will soon be in my hot little hands I wish to thank oka for everything he's done for this forum. I will not yet bid farewell however.

No Oka, thank YOU man! I know I don't host over here anymore, and don't respond to much either, but this post deserves it.
We all owe it to you for cleaning up this forum and putting those habitual line steppers in check, before you came around here, man, this place was a disaster in many threads.
I too love my Vibrant, it birthed my dev "career", when the day comes that I do upgrade, its going to be a sad one indeed, and I don't think I'll ever get rid of Betsy. More like enshrine her in a glass case on the mantle, and tell my grandkids stories of how Oka1 came riding over the hills and cleaned up this one horse town, making it a pleasing experience for all the devs, themers, and users alike.

Just playing; im very happy with this community as well.. it has really made my xda experience a very enjoyable one.
The vibrant is quite a legend and even though sometimes the flagships can tempt me, i know that this is all ill need for a couple more years.
Tbh though, once my contract runs out, this will become my backup or go to my family members (my mother still uses a moto SLVR from like 2004 lol)

im from malaysia, we didnt have samsung vibrant here, but i happened to get myself 1. i just want to say that i still like this phone very much even though i have a note. yea, we lack of updates, but thanks to all developers here, my vibrant gets a new life. they've done so much for us (needless to say what). would like to say thanks a million to all developers for your hard works. btw, im not going to leave this forum, i still love my vibrant...peace
Got my Vibe on release day 2010. I have many friends with many diff android devices and have never seen the collective collaboration like I have seen here. The amount of support this device has received is incredible to say the least. Thank you Oka1, devs and supporting members that turned me from flash noob, to flash intermediate. I have acquired many useful rooting skills and it all started here!
Hey guys,
Been on these forums for two years. Outstanding community and I've had SO MUCH fun. Upgrading the the Galaxy 3 in a few weeks and I will see you all over there!

dr.ketan - thank you!

I started this thread out of respect, appreciation, admiration & concern for this guy.
I’ve owned N2 for several months. Back then I read many threads – how to root, backup EFS, other stuff you need to know for flashing our device. Next I moved on to mods, ROMs, tweaks. All the time I saw DrKetan threads everywhere – then slowly became aware of his high activity level. I don't need to go on about the his leaked ROM efforts do I?
I thought ‘doctor’ was a name he chose for fun. Because he was like a doctor for our N2. Then recently found out he IS a doctor. Holy sh** I thought - Yes lots of us have important jobs, demanding jobs, me included. But most of us DON’T contribute to N2 forum NEAR AS MUCH as he does.
So that’s why I made this thread. There is so much community appreciation for him, it’s evident in all his threads. In fact we love him so much that our own thanks dr.ketan! posts clutter up his development threads making it hard to find information
Hoping we can
a) Somehow convey to him our appreciation, at a base and genuine level, for his work. All we can offer are words I guess, though I notice he has Donate button. Maybe we can buy him something useful, like a second N2 in case he bricks his??
b) Draw his attention to the fact he seems to sleep like 3 hours a night and THAT’S NOT HEALTHY, doctor! LOL he should know better
Umm if this thread is seen as lame and I get blasted for making it, so be it, but as a former newb: thanks drketan !!
Hey I appreciate the thanks fellas, but really hope to get your posts here.
--> Who has a dr.ketan story worth telling? Yes I know that 75% of us benefitted from his advice at some point, for example his Backup EFS thread prevented lots of us ending up with unusable phones but ... what about the time your child was lost in a snowstorm, the whole town was looking when suddenly dr.ketan knocked on your door with child in his arms??
Yes I know that's a silly joke but c'mon guys, we also like threads that aren't about mods or ROMs so ... let it rip - pay homage to the hardest working dude on this forum.
Heartfelt Thanks
He is very nice and very friendly.. He is always dedicated in his Profession as well as to Android development. He helped me, Guided me many times when i was using Note 1 and Now on Note 2. He is very passionate towards android . Unlike others he never ask for Hit thanks If i Helped . Respects and thanks come from our hearts. He is giving his valuable time for us. I wondered many times that how he can be this much passionate .. (Sorry for my bad English )
Heartfelt Thanks Ketan Bhai

Guys you are awesome, And apart from i am running out of thanks today also I don't have words to thank you.
But
I feel this kind of thread is against XDA rule and before someone have to report I am doing it mysef right now.
Kindly don't consider this as insulting but we all are bound to follow rules
And again thank you very much for love you always showers on me.
Regards All.
Ketan, I didn't realise this kind of thread is against rules & it's appropriate I follow those rules. Whatever happens, happens. That xda video that all new members must watch ... I guess I missed something.
Was hoping, as more people became aware of the thread, we'd put our thoughts together how to convince you to get some proper sleep
Cheers
Even is against the xda rules ,
I want to thank you for all your effort and time you give to us .
you are a real men and a model.
Not against the rules per say... but if we had an appreciation thread for every good developer, the forums would be a huge mess (well, ok, messier than they currently are)
