[Q] verizon droid pro activation in uk and another few things. - Droid Pro General

Hi there
Im usually quite good with all things rooting etc but this has me stumped.
I bought a droid pro off ebay from the US and recived it all working fine - bar no cell connection. My intention was to update the radio root custom rom and done.
I downloaded boot strap to get it all installed with recovery and noticed the owner had left his gmail account on there. Being the nice guy I am I thought......factory reset to clear the account.
Did this and not the phone is stuck at the activation call to verizon.
I dont have a verizon sim is there anyway to get round this to install the bootstrap apk?
I know they have an encrypted bootloader so the usual vol down and power on wont work. can you force it to adb or fastboot to push files across?
Any help and advise appreciated as Ive never had the issue with phone activation in this way in the UK.
Many thanks
Gurry

[Q] Motorola Defy XT535 Rooting, Recovery gone bad

Hi Folks
I bought a Motorloa Defy XT535 over the internet from a company in Sydney, who imported the phone from China (I live in Australia). When I received the phone, everything was in Chinese and changing the language to English, made little difference. Google Apps was not installed on the phone, and the only App Store software, had only Chinese applications. In this state, the phone was pretty useless to me. I attempted downloading the gapps APK, and installed it succesfully, however, I was still unable to connect to the Google Play store, since the phone did not allow me to create a Google account. The only account that I was able to create, was for and Exchange Server, no other options were available.
I came here and after much searching, found a few links that described how to root the phone, I found an Australian Telstra Firmware update for Gingerbread 2.3.7 one this site, http://www.droidevelopers.com/f437/...-xt535-gingerbread-2-3-7-firmware-update.html. I was able to root the phone successfully using the instructions in the All-in-one-guide on the forum - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216982.
I then needed to install a Custom Recovery and found this link to install ClockworkMod - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827338. This is where things went wrong. After I followed the steps and successfully installed CWM (or so it seemed), the phone now does not boot up at all. When I switch it on, the Motorola Logo appears and then nothing further. By holding down both volume keys and switching on the phone, I can get into the stock recovery, but resetting the phone to factory default does not resolve the issue. I can also boot up into the bootloader by holding down the Up Volume key before I switch it on, but the White screen appears and four lines of text, then nothing. There are no options and the only action that does anything, is pressing the power button which then resets the phone.
The original firmware version was 2.3.6. and since I was unable to get past the custom recovery installation, I have not attempted flashing the rom with newly downloaded Telstra Ginderbread 2.3.7 firmware.
Please help if anyone has any ideas?
Thanks

Hi Folks
I just resolved this issue on my phone. Have a look at this post in another forum - http://simply-android.com/discussion/593/how-to-unbrick-or-flash-a-defy-firmware.sbf/p1. It worked, I used this version of RSD Lite http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1348587. My phone is now up and running and all seems well.
I hope this helps someone ...

ModemFastDormancy.APK

So I bought a Droid M a while back, used Radio Comm so I could use it on ATT and its worked ALMOST flawlessly. Im having issue with the Modem Fastdomancy apk. It doesn't wake up from deep sleep, and I sometimes have to soft reset it too boot it back up. After scouring the internet I've found that's its most likely the ModemFastDormancy.apk that's causing the issue. Since it has the latest update I cant root. Haven't tied unlocking the bootloader yet through Motorola, but I'm prob going to. can anyone tell me how to get rid of the modem fast dormancy apk? I cant use Titanium Backup without root, and stopping only works for a short time. Any help would be appreciated. I wish I had realized about the bootloader and root patches before I bought it, but I'm stuck till there's a work around.
Same here, using this phone, outside US in GSM network.
Anyone can advice something?

Rooting/Transforming my SM-G900V for Australian Telstra Use

Hello all!
Got a few questions I'd like some help from everybody to figure out please! Here's a basic summary of my problem:
Recently moved down to Queensland, Australia, and had a friend from the US ship me a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G900V), on account of phones being super expensive down here. Received the phone, put in my Telstra SIM card, and altered the APN Settings, and got the phone working properly, no problems with it really.
However, I'd love to root the phone in order to hopefully upgrade the Android OS from 5.0 to something newer. There's a couple little features I'd also like to get rid of, which I imagine would be possible upon successfully rooting the phone:
- On the Notifications Panel, there is a permanent Notification that reads: "SIM card is not from Verizon Wireless." (I would love to remove this).
- All of the Verizon Apps from my Apps Menu.
If I were to root it, is there anyway I could install the Telstra based OS, or a network unrestricted OS, that wouldn't have all of the unwanted apps in the Application Menu?
In a nutshell, what I'm requesting help for, is in order to root my phone and get an updated OS (hopefully), without having to use a Custom ROM? Although I'm not completely against using a Custom ROM.
Thanks in advance.
Bump....Somebody please help me...I'm having trouble even installing the recovery. ODIN will start the process of installing the custom recovery to the phone, then will fail within 5 seconds...

Backup Locked Phone with Unknown PIN

i have a family friend that had a close family member die recently two weeks before his wedding. his phone (a stock Verizon Galaxy S5) is locked with a PIN and Backup PIN (which no one knows) there was no SD card in it. they believe it is attached to a secondary Google account which they don't know either so Android Device Manager isn't helpful. does anyone know of any way to flash it with a custom recovery tool so i can at least get his pictures off of it? That's all his fiance wants, the many pictures that he took of the two before his passing.
I have tried using Odin to flash CWM and TWP but both of those fail and from what i have found i believe it is because Verizon has a locked ROM but i am not completely sure about that fact. I have also tried using ADB but USB debugging is probably not on because i cant get it to recognize it. they tried calling Samsung, Google and Verizon before contacting me, all said they wouldn't/couldn't help.
i have tried for a while now and am out of ideas, any useful suggestions would be gratefully appreciated by all.
Thanks

S8 Patten lock help PLEASE

Good day
i come to you with a story that many of you might have heard,
Good friend of mine passed away last weekend in a motorbike accident his funeral was today 11/17/2018
His wife asked me today if i can help remove the Patten lock of his phone as she wants to get the photos of the daughters play of the phone
she knows his Patten lock for all of his other phone but this one is different for some reason, because she knows everything the steps i have tried is as followed
1. Samsung account to remotely unlock the device ( S8 was not registered with the account ) only the S4 that was stolen many years ago
2.Google find my device i don't see an option there
3.looked thru all 5 email account including the outlook account nothing there ( We played online together as well)
things i know because i have been at this all day
( I have Googled this ) all my phones are rooted and have a custom recovery
His phone was never Rooted, no custom recovery, i highly doubt he had OEM unlock usb debugging etc
please can someone point me i the right place or help me if its even possible
thanks all for taking the time to read this
PS. The lock Screen does not have a option to use the gmail via recovery, again thank you all
Go into download mode (vol down, bixby and power on at the same time) to check if he really never had OEM unlocked.
It's a worth try it.
If he had, you could easily flash TWRP and recover the files.
If not it's a tough nut to crack.
I will brainstorm a little bit.

Thanks for the quick reply i have done that, OEM is locked
Okay then, we need a different angel of view.
Did you try common numbers out of his life?
Such as birthdates, special events from children/wife, banking pin, something like this?
The other method would be to reflash the firmware via odin, unlock OEM, flash TWRP and then recover the pictures with DiskDigger Root Access.
The problem in this method is, that it isn't guaranteed that it works.
I consider this as the last chance, if everything else fails.
You wrote that you don't have any restore options in pin menu.
Is there anything else that could help or that you can tap?
Any Options or so?
A diagnose from far away is not that accurate of course and really would like to help.
