I recently found the phone numbers in contacts being displayed like 123-456-789. Previously it was being displayed without "-". I tried to change the locale & regional settings but it didn't work ! Why is it so ? Now After I factory resetted the phone & selected locale & English (US), though this problem got sorted out. I am facing two new problems. My Android market does not update itself !!!!!!!!! & the progress of the ongoing downloads does not show/appears blank. I am very worried. plzz tell me what to do !! i am using stock 2.1 V20c (India) ROM in my rooted gt540. Previously I never had any issues with my phone. Plzz help it's urgent. I have tried to master reset my phn 5 times hoping the problem wud get solved but it didn't.
New problem- new downloads take a lot of time to start after they have been queued for download
well... I`am not sure if this will help....but i had some issues with market not updating itsef and displaying wrong letters in system...so i formated my system, boot, data and cache partition through clockworkmod recovery and then restored from backup, after that everything worked fine...now, I assume you don`t have a backup, or clockworkmod recovery....or do you??
No.. I dnt hav a backup. Recently when I rooted my phone I deleted everything in the system cache folder and also removed some built in apps like SNS,layar, task killer, vid editor and wapedia thinking this wud free up internal memory. I think that is where the prob originated. Now tell me wat to do...

Try to flash ur phone with M6 or something like that...
Sent from my GT540 using XDA App
I would reinstall the operating system (and i suggest you to do that)....first install rom manager from market.. if you can..then while still conected to internet install clockworkmod recovery (you`ll see an optyion in rom manager) when you do that..try to boot into recovery by presing power button (first shutdown your phone.....) and home button, when it turns on(holding) if you get something new...a menu, that`s recovery... now go and make a backup of you existing system....that way even if you make some bad choices you can always get your system back.........from this point you can put any ROM you like.... just download wanted ROM put it on the root(outside of any folder) of your sdcard ond go into recovery and choose instal from .zip.........I don`t have the time to search the stock 2.1 ROM v20c for you to install...you could try google
EDIT: here you can find all ROM-s, even a backup of 2.1
@ssik -- thanku so much 4 d detailed info..buddy.. as far as the complete list of original stock ROM's link goes... I already hav the link.. so u didn't hav to search it 4 me...anyways since u hav already done..thanx a lot..i owe u a lot 4 dat. so dont get disgusted..since I am new to this modding thing I feel frightened to hav my phn bricked while flashing...so I was asking 4 any othr alternative.
How to select my device in rom manager ? Since gt540 is not present in device list ? Does my phn's firmware needs to be fastboot enabled so that I can install clockwork ?

you welcome @sujitmohanty .....while in a rom manager (conected to internet aswel) just press flash clockworkmod recovery, wait till its finished and then try to boot into recovery mod as described, if that doesn`t work then we`ll do something else.... let me know if it works... and ask for any help you need... I was also as frightened as you in my beginnings )
ok dear..got it ! I wil be definitely doing it but today. I will be carrying it out tmrw cozz now its 8.23 p.m here in india and I am feeling bit tired. aft I do it, I wil b informing u in this thread or thru PM. till then take care.. and lastly once again thank u very very much for lending ur support and instilling confidence in me.

I think there is but it is untested and only just my theory.
Also, it doesn't matter what fastboot rom you flash, they all work the same, regardless of country etc
EDIT: Look at this..

Hi all,
i had installed cyanogen mod on my defy and all was perfect.
After that i tried to install defy_recovery-1218-0326-signed.apk and it says that was installed successfully.
I tried to boot in recovery mode and when i power up the phone it stays on the initial logo forever (cyanogen mod 7..).
I tried to flash my version founded here sbf.droid-developers org but it make the same things on boot...
What should I do?
Please help me, i bought that phone yesterday!

yeah, i tried it now, i didn't know this method and it works...
But sorry man, what version should i install? Now I have 2.3.6 (i don't know why, it's the only version that work that i tried) but i would like to install Cyanogen Mod V7...
Can you explain me what should i do? Thank you very mutch!
So you flashed and 2.3.6 sbf? Do you have a Defy+ or a normal defy?
If you have a normal defy and you have a green lense, you can't use your camera anymore (kernel limitation) even not on CM.
To install CM7, download a Defy+ nightly (even if you have a normal defy, cause you are on defy+ kernal) form here: http://www.defy-cm.net/
You must not use defy_recovery-1218-0326-signed.apk any more.
Use 2nd init form: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032212
When you have installed 2nd init: reboot, wait for blue led, press volume up,go to custom recovery, install the zip downloaded earlier.
But to install 2ndInit i have to get the root permission, how can i do it? With oneClick it doesn't work....
Yes I have the Defy MB525...
EDIT:
yeah, i get root permission and i installed 2ndinit but what should i do to get into recovery mode? I don't understand
RE-EDIT: I had to press power down button, not up...
I did the same mistake on my Moto defy ... did you get it to boot back up and if so how ? Ty to whom ever helps

Hi, i have question about this nice phone. I had it for about a week now and i like it but only one annoying thing is that sometimes it lags. I'm rooted, using ram manager, caching everything and i raised heap size to 32 but still it can be better. Anyone have any advice apart from ROM changing? I'm too scared to do it because i don't have spare money for repair or new phone. Thanks. I'm running stock 2.2

A good ROM is cm7.2 burgerZ kang. Its smooth, quick and stable. Here's how u flash it
Download Rom manager from the play store
Select the first option "flash recovery"
Confirm phone model as ZTE Blade.
Download the burgerZ rom from burgerz.pro website (select zte blade/cyanogenmod 7)
Download the Gapps from the same page
Backup ur apps
Charge phone to around 60%
Reboot the phone holding the
volume down button
You'll see a screen with small text . This is called recovery. Use the volume buttons to navigate and home button to select
Select wipe data option
Select install zip from sdcard
Select choose zip manually
Navigate to where u downloaded the rom
Select it and confirm flashing
Wait for around 3 minutes
When its done, flash the Gapps in the same way

If u want download cm7 ics theme from the market to make it look like android 4.0

This problem may occur when u haven't partitioned ur phone. Or the partition is lesser than the requirement. I suggest u do a 1024 : 32 partition for every custom rom.

After a no of reboots the partition did show up but it appeared under data section (in S2e app)... Not under sd-ext...
So i downloaded Link2sd app... I selected ext-2 for mounting... It showed up a msg saying ''script file formed. reboot to apply changes''..
Now aft rebooting initially it stopped at the cyn mod7 animation... Now it is not goin beyond the dell logo... What shall i do?
As of now Phone is entering into recovery mode... Pls help..

According to me you have accidently bricked your phone.
Let me remind you that this is for Gen 2 and I haven't tested it on other gens of blade.
I may have to recommended to flash a rom again and then flash this without checking anything FROM The ROM MANAGER.

Well, i've flashed my Blade with ColdFusionX ROM and everything seems to be great.
Then i decided to restart it and it stays on boot loop. It can be solved by entering on recovery and wiping the Dalvik Cache, but i want to know if there is another way to solve it? It's kinda annoying making it everytime i need to restart or shutdown.
Another question is for a good app to make USB Thetering, since the one on this ROM works but drains battery faster then USB provides.
Thanks and sorry about the bad english.

Update:
Now things are worst then ever. I've updated ROM Manager to last version and then i can't enter on recover anymore and cellphone can't start.
Is there any way to flash the recovery from outside the phone?

Do you have Blade drivers for Windows 8, that drivers are for 7 and they aren't working.
Tryed method 2 but it didn't work, adb can't see my device connected. Now i'm trying method 3.
How can I know what TPT should i use?
Sorry for being so noob.
If you got your phone with 2.1 it is gen1, if 2.2 it is gen2.
Therefore, use gen2.

It is with 4.0.4 gen2, but i don't know if i have to use chinese or european TPT.
It was manufactured in china, so I use the Chinese TPT, right? Seems obvious but i'm kinda scared.
Update: Problem Solved!
I turned it in recovery mode, and it got stuck as was happening before. So I left it a while and when i plugged him on the computer, adb recognized it and I could use the fastboot of method 2.
But i still got the problem with the Boot-looping on ColdFusionX that I said on first post. Is there a way to fix this? (It can be fixed wiping the Dalvik Cache every boot, but it is annoying)
