[Q] Nova Launcher. Battery life hit? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone notice a considerable battery life hit using Nova launcher?
I'm just failing to see how anyone can quote 9hrs life web browsing, more realistically its 5 or 6 tops usage.
Is that down to using Nova launcher or is that just how it is with the Nex 7?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium

I think it uses about 3% looking at my stats
I was getting 9hours battery life, however after recently installing CM10 Kang rom is now get between 12 and 13 hours.

nova wouldn't be a noticeable hit on battery, I can get over 2 days on battery with 6hrs screen on time, I use nova on phone and tablet.

I'm using nova launcher and I don't have battery issues. I gene really get 2-3 days out of a charge
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium

I have 5 hours of screen on, enough left for probably another 2 hours, and Nova Launcher isn't even listed as it has used so little. Far more has been used by games. It wasn't listed even after an hour or so of setting up my screens and widgets, which required a lot of testing and fiddling around in Nova.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app

Just unlucky I guess. I'll never see six hours screen time with any launcher. Doh
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium

Im using nova and typically get about 6 hours of web browing(judged by screen on time). Nova never shows up on my battery usage list so it's not much of a hit for me. I am just unimpressed with the battery life . Google couldn't just come out and say 6 hours, so they lied and said 10 while web browsing? I have yet to see anyone besides cnet say they got 10 hours of on time with one charge. I would like to see some more people get stirred up about this. Apple managed to put out a device that can do 10 hours of true web browsing. So it can be done.
I'm using a cm10 kang build as well. Maybe I will go back to stock for a few days just to see....

Nova doesn't even show up on my battery use. I use my Nexus 7 for reading ebooks, probably about 80% of the time, on battery. I figure that I can go around 12 hours before I need to start looking for a plug in.

Is your nexus stock unrooted?
Are you using widgets, live widgets, live wallpaper, or any kind of battery saving or task managers/automated app killers? Is your GPS enabled? Have you tried turning off sync services that you don't need, disabling GPS and location services when you aren't using them, or turning off screen transitions and animations?

True, I see about the same with mine, but Wifi is off, and Google claims 10 hours of browsing. I would even settle for 8 hours at this point. Still need to just try stock i guess. Bored today so I Will try it out.

Most likely your battery drain is not caused by Nova Launcher.
Did you look into any of these suggestions?

I had some pretty bad battery drain too, until a few days ago I figured out that it was caused by Google's location service being on, preventing the CPU from going into deep-sleep mode.
Try this, Arthur Hucksake:
1. Go into the settings => Location services => turn all three options (Google's location service, GPS sattelites, Location & Google search) off
2. Go into the settings => Wi-Fi => Menu (the three dots) => Advanced => Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep => Only when plugged in
3. Go into the settings of each widget (or its corresponding app) and change the update interval to the bare minimum or to manual, so that the widget/app doesn't continuously update itself.
=> The above settings help to make sure that the CPU can switch into deep-sleep mode when the screen is off and the tablet in standby mode. Otherwise continuous updates/checks of an app would prevent the deep-sleep mode and hence cause battery drain.
=> Useful apps to find out which apps are causing battery drain and whether the CPU can switch into deep-sleep mode are:
- CPU Spy
- Better Battery Stats

Gave my rooted Stock Nexus a try, not much better, I barely got 7.5 hours of browsing, a little bit of flash player and maybe 30 minutes of HW decoded HD video. Pretty crappy if you ask me. I mean I drained this down to 1% from 100%. Used some of the apps suggested here and nothing really jumps out as a culprit, just looks like bad power management or bad battery to me.

Speaking of Nova. On my 2 day old HTC One, which ibwant to keep and not return for the S4, it lists Nova as number 1. Taking up 40% of battery usage (not sure of your terminology)
Anyone have any clue for me. I liked Apex and someone said they got better results. For me, Apex has been lagging and for some reason it won't take a Jorte widget.
what's worse when plugged in, every phone in the past has charged while being used plugged in. This doesn't move AT ALL and even goes down a point or 2 every so often.
Thanks in advance for any help

You have a few things going on. First, you revived and hijacked a zombie. Second, you're in the wrong device-specific forum. Third, when you post your issue in the correct device-specific forum, you may want to give folks some more info to go on such as what you're using to charge your phone and if it's indicating that it's charging on AC or USB.

Real Helpful
Not really feeling good about "wger I am". If you don't have anything to help, say nothing. Would have been better to leave a note in here for the mod to move this.

You were given constructive advice on how to succeed in your query. You were helped by being pointed in the right direction and informed that you will need to provide more info once you get there. You're set for success, but whether or not you choose to follow it through is entirely up to you.
It is a fact that a very small subset of users in this sub-forum have any first-hand experience with the HTC One and that your odds of getting the answer you seek is exponentially higher in that device's sub-forum. Likewise, it also holds true that, in order to receive an accurate answer to your issue, you'll need to provide more info. Think of it as being akin to walking into a doctor's office and proclaiming "I'm sick" without providing any other information. In order to treat you, he/she also needs to know relevant info, such as what symptoms you're experiencing. The same holds true here- in order to accurately address your issue, they're going to need to know relevant info such as what power source you're plugged into and whether your phone indicates it is charging on AC or USB.
And it actually wouldn't have been better to have a mod move it. It's far less cumbersome for all involved if you would simply copy and paste your question as a new thread in the HTC One forum than it would be for someone to report your post, a mod to respond to that report, prune it out of this thread, and then create an entirely new thread in the appropriate forum.

Definitely give the original a try. Not all usb cables are created equally. To enable charging at a current higher than 500mA (the usb standard), the power management integrated circuit of the device checks for a short between the d+ and the d- pins. Some oems short the contacts at the charger whereas others short them inside the cable.

I am in WAKELOCK HELL

I'll start by saying that the attached pictures say it all folks.
I'm simply at a complete loss as to how my phone can be so awake ALL the time.
If anybody could give me ANY insight as to why it might be the case, I'd REALLY appreciate it.
Also, I can post my alarmdump.txt if anybody wants to see it.
Again, any and ALL help would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to ask me for any more info that might be of use in diagnosing the problem.
That NYC map app seems to be the culprit. As well as the Google Search widget, for some reason.
Uninstall the app, remove the widget, reboot and see if it's much better

lol bro well only about 30 minutes of that time the screen was on and I was doing stuff.
Thanks for the insights so far bros.
I'll say that I actually DO NOT have the google search widget. In fact, the only widgets I have are a watchdog widget and SwitchPro lockscreen button widget.
I'll keep investigating.
Thank you guys for the quick responses.

Well I've frozen the default ADW launcher that CM7 comes with. I'm pretty sure I took off all homescreen icons and widgets before I switched the default to Zeam.
Does anybody know if freezing the Modem Fastdormancy element in Titanium Backup would cause any problems?
Please help me fellas.

im also curious about modem fastdormancy... i froze it because it was a wakelock culprit, but am getting really fast battery drain as well. not sure exactly what modem fastdormancy does tho

So basically, Modem Fast Dormancy = do not freeze. In my understanding, it has to do with the radio and disabling it when not in use, or something to that affect. I haven't studied it, but that's a quick 10 second synopsis from reading that article. I would stay away from disabling it.

Right on. And thanks for the info.
When I froze ADW I also UNfroze Fastdormancy, and then rebooted, so hopefully that'll help.
What about the wakelocks for Event Log Services?
Does anybody know if there's a way to find out exactly what that is, and if there's anything I can do about it?
Thanks for the input so far guys I REALLY appreciate, and little by little I think things are working out.
You're showing 27 hours there..................many people struggle to get 1/2 of that. I am one of the few who gets 28-30 hrs from full charge with moderate usage. I think it's fair to say you have fairly decent battery life, even with only low usage. I wouldn't complain too much.................just keep trying to make it better!

The thing is, he might have good battery life compared to others but his screen was barely on, he shouldn't be having all those wake locks. I have a similar amount too. If we could get this settled our 1 day battery life might turn into 2 days which would be amazing. I'm sure many people's phones are like this.

Yup bro this is exactly it.
It might be good battery life- but I'm not using my phone at all.
After unfreezing Modem Fastdormancy I've definitely got less unexplained blue in the "awake" time graph. I also froze ADW and that seemed to help.
Thing is, there is still lot of mysterious chunks when my phone is awake.
BetterBatteryStats says Alarm Manager and Event Log services are to blame (top two- represent a substantial percentage of the partial wakelocks and thus time awake).
I'm about to terminal emulator dumpsys my alarmdump.txt, but is there a similar solution for Event Log Services that will allow me to see EXACTLY what's putting it at the top? Only clue it gives is that it's apparently "Google Services."
Past that I've got no clue what it's pointing to.
If I get the Event Log Services fixed, I'd venture to say that would solve a LOT of problems for me.
Thank you guys for everything so far. You laid out some really good and interesting ideas- ones that I definitely wouldn't have thought of.
I'm very, very appreciative, and if it's not too much trouble, bros, KEEP IT COMING!
Ultimately, I want OTHERS to be able to reference this thread in their quest for a better Atrix, and maybe even a better android phone in general!

Quick question bros:
If I get my alarm manager dump, will that have any or all of the things contributing to the Event Log Services wakelock?
Like I've been saying, it looks like all I need to solve this is some breakdown of the Event Log Services to see what's putting it at the top.

I honestly always had battery issues with cm7 keeping the phone awake. I switched back to Alien ROM an now my battery life is back to normal, around 42hours. I also saw great improvement when I uninstalled Watchdog while I was on cm7 and so thus I have never reinstalled it again.
Well,
Due to this post I checked my Atrix and saw that it wont go to sleep as well, and stay practically always awake. I started using AntTek App manager to freeze some apps that worked all the time (mainly Facebook and an israeli VOD app) and the phone started to go in sleep. I dont know how it will affect the battery life (which is about 16 hours from 100% to ~5%, with data always open), but I will test it for now and report once I have some news...
BTW Im running CM7-Ba2tF, with faux123 enhanced 1.0 Ghz Kernel, and UV.

[MOD][Request] Improve your battery life tenfold

This was on the portal today. It's a Droid Incredible mod that apparently improves battery life dramatically. OP has a full guide in place with info on what each tweak does. Galaxy note devs, amazing as they are, may or may not be using these (or similar) tweaks for the Note. In any case, FYI
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1621808
More snake oil... Improving your battery life tenfold with sysctl.conf changes when the radio dominates idle battery usage and screen dominates screen-on battery usage = bull****.
Maybe you can improve it a little - but tenfold? Bull****, and a ridiculously exaggerated claim like that makes me distrust any of the changes made.
I know what the prime power eaters on this device are, and sysctl tweaks aren't going to change those... Changing them requires major architectural rework of the kernel.

That's what I thought. You guys know the device inside out, so it makes sense to bring things like this to your attention.
Incidentally, the guy says he gets 50+ hours on a single charge. My Note gives me 48+ hours (with little wi-fi though, and at 1200 MHz), so it's not that we have bad battery life.
Overclocking, init.d changes, etc are all extremely irrelevant in terms of battery use.
The main battery hog for any modern phone in the past 2 years has and always will be the screen (of course unless if you're using something like the Xperia Mini).
I'm more than happy with the Note's battery life to be honest. It's certainly better than the Sensation and One X I had previously.
The only way we will see much of an improvement will be if they make a phone the size of the Note with a 3.5" visible screen. lol
Or a 10000 mA battery.

Dont care much about battery life if you are using smartphone with its big screen, alot of connection.
There are two solution, one is spare battery alway on pocket, other complete solution is change to cheap feature phone with 30 days battery life.

It's mostly phone calls, the occasional game, some music. Very little wi-fi though, and data only when I need it. Brightness set to auto except when outside (where it's set to max). The fact that I sleep atleast once in those 48 hours helps the battery life a lot

I finished completely charging my Galaxy Note at 02:00 BST. After I got up at 07:00 BST, the battery level was at 86%. I switched off the Wi-Fi, force stopped Skype and WhatsApp (these are the only 2 apps I have installed so far!) before plugging the device to charge.
Background data and Auto-sync in Accounts and sync was turned off ages ago.
Before posting this message, I switched on the Wi-Fi to chat with my cousin via WhatsApp for 20 minutes. Now the Wi-Fi and WhatsApp are inactive. At the moment of typing this message, my battery level is 42%.
I have tried force stopping some of the pre-installed apps such as AccuWeather, ApMobile etc but the effort has been futile. I am aware that I need to root my device in order to get rid of the bloatwares. I am having another issue with the Auto brightness feature which I have described in another thread. I have not ventured into the realm of rooting until now because I may decide to send my device to Samsung's service centre.
I cannot figure out for myself whether my battery or my device itself has a flaw or whether it is normal and there is nothing wrong.
I will eventually pose my queries pertaining to rooting and relevant subjects. I am a novice in the field of mobile computing and I am here to learn from you all.
Thank you all for your continued patience.
Your device has a flaw, that flaw is called Skype.

Thank you for your prompt response Entropy512.
After I finish using Skype and subsequently signing out, I force stop it from Settings > Applications > Manage applications, either from Downloaded or All.
I use Skype on my phone to communicate with my sister when I am away from my computer at home, especially when I am at university. Thus, I am compelled to use it.
Do you reckon force stop is turning out futile? Should I get a third party "task manager" because the default/pre-installed Task manager seems incompetent.
Please do keep your expert opinions, suggestions and advise coming.

Install BetterBatteryStats (free if download from xda). Check for wakelock to see what app is keeping your device awake.
Just as a note, there is a bug in the OS for our Note if you use the USB OTG cable. Once plugged in with any USB storage device, the unmounter process would cause the device to unable to sleep, thus causing battery drain. The only way out is to reboot.

n00b here, need help with battery issues

Hi there; this is my first post so please go easy on me.
Bought a Nexus 4 which is my first Android device, but the battery life is bugging the hell out of me. Surely the screen should always be at the top, right? I left it to sleep overnight on a full charge to find that it had shot down to 60% when I woke up at 7 this morning.
I haven't rooted or flashed or anything like that, because as I said, I'm an Android virgin. I have location settings off, only Gmail syncing and the usual push notifications here and there. Nothing too fancy or strenuous.
Any help on how I can go around fixing this? I'm a little afraid to rooting/flashing/ROMs etc, because I've no clue what works best.

If your saying you left the screen on over night, meaning the phone never went into deep sleep.. If you slept for let's say 6 hours and the phones screen was on for that whole time it's normal that it went down to sixty percent battery.
Maybe I'm understanding your post wrong? Btw I cannot see the picture you posted.

Turn off mobile data and lower the screen brightness to 0 during the day. Also disable WiFi when you're sleeping. I also make sure all apps are closed using the app manager button on the far right.
Mine's been fine following this logic.
Oh sorry, I should meant sleeping overnight, whilst I slept cosily in my bed.

This is NOT the answer. His battery in the image has dropped 7%. If he hasn't used the screen much it is perfectly understandable that screen might not be a large percentage of that 7%. As he uses the phone more screen will use a larger percentage of his battery and Android OS will use less.
If he gets to the point where the screen is on for an hour or two and the percentages are still like this then yes there is a problem.

My android system has never been that high, regardless if I used the phone for 10 minutes or 10 seconds , or not at all.

Cheers!

Actually No the "Screen" should not always be at the top of the stat list. If you use the phone more than it idles, then yes... but if you are like me, mine says "Phone Idle: 20%" (which is on top) and "Screen" is 4th on the list with 12% (Wi-Fi and Cell standby above it) [this is my personal phone, and I mostly use my work phone. hence the high Idle & standby]
I was having an issue with my phone running out of battery, with very little usage from it. I mean very little, I might make 2 calls from it each day, and respond to an email now and then. I found that an App was preventing my Screen from going into "Deep Sleep" or even "Sleeping" possibly. So I uninstalled all apps (well I only had like 4 additional apps installed), except for 2 that I need (Google Voice & Drive). Powered off the phone, charged it fully, then powered back on. Its been running on the same charge for 24+hrs now and reads 68% battery remaining.
So check the apps you have installed, some use background data, and might be causing problems...

And your phone is the definitive guide for what Android OS usage is? Maybe his phone woke up those services for a period of time longer than normal.
The answer of "lol looks wrong root and install kernel" is terrible advice when so little information is given.

A longer battery graph would help a lot. If yuppy want top search XDA there is a free app called better battery stats that will help you diagnose if something is running in the background eating battery or even if your phone I'd properly entering deep sleep.

See now it is much easier to see that you actually do have a problem and what it is. You have the wakelock problem as you can see from Better Battery Stats which falls under Android OS on the other screen. It also appears that you have somewhat weak signal which could cause the wakelock to drain battery even more. There's not much you can do about that wake lock, some kernels have patches for it but those have their own issues as well.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Could I just install any kernel on stock android and be OK with it? As I've said I've no idea what's best for me; just something nice and clean that doesn't have issues like this. I live onsite where I work so my WiFi is pretty much on all the time if that helps in anyway whatsoever
I'm gonna let it run down completely tonight and charge it, but I don't expect it to help much.

I never told him to install a kernel. The advice I gave is to do a reset then I asked if he was rooted or running a custom rom or kernel because that might of been the problem.

Bump
Fully charged overnight, battery still sinking like a ship. 45 minutes and I'm already down to 94% already!
Idiot question; will installing a kernel just solve this? For now as a new guy I'd like to keep it as stock as possible before fiddling with it.

The battery on the n4 seems horrible.
I'm completely stock I just got my phone yesterday, I charged it to 100% now its at 64% battery with only 47 minutes of screen on time.
on the s3 I would be around 83% with 47 minutes of screen on time.
I'm gonna unlock the boot loader and root soon and try Franco kernel I've been reading good things about it.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
The battery life on the stock kernel isn't great because the CPU management isn't optimized well. It ramps up the CPU (frequency, number of active cores...) very easily and keeps it there long, which removes the occasional lag but sucks more battery. Flashing a more battery friendly kernel would definitely help you if that is the root of your battery issues and not a badly coded app.
Franco's kernel is a very popular one, and very battery friendly compared to stock (and that doesn't mean you lose performance). It is the one I'm currently using. Most people report of screen on times of 4 or 5 hours. With not so heavy usage and wifi (not 3g) I can also pass 5 hrs.
To install a kernel you need to unlock your boot loader and install a custom recovery. No need to root, but.. why not since you're at it
You can try different kernels with the stock ROM. You don't necessarily need a custom ROM. Just be careful to read the dev's OP and instructions, and definitely not to flash a kernel for another device.
Also another thing that reduces battery is your mobile data, if there are a lot of programs that sync on the background. You can use a program that turns off your mobile data when your screen is off and switch it back on just for a sync every xx minutes. Juice Defender is such app, though I like to use Tasker for that. If you use Tasker and are interested in that project, ask or send me a pm. It works great.

Indeed. You can see this yourself within BBS (or other similar applications) by changed the point at which you wish to view statistics. For example, set it to list all events since the device was booted and it will show up. Now change this to only view events since the device was last unplugged off the charger. Now it's no longer there and since it's only happening while the device is charging, it's nothing to worry over.
I haven't researched what this service is though, but combined with the logic of what I started and what NervGaz said (awesome name the easy), I'm certain that it isn't having any ill effect on battery like all. I started monitoring battery consumption again street the OTA KitKat update because of several complaints I read about and was trying to help then out as MANY of them were suggesting just to do a factory reset and I had jump and say something because a factory reset is a drastic last measure attempt and quite honestly told them that a reset won't help a thing since they will go back to the same habits as before, meaning installing the same battery sucking applications (*cough* Facebook) or have apps such that set to sync all the time, etc.
Even if it was an issue brought on by a bad KitKat installation, the phone can always be fixed (with the knowledge i guess) without resorting to a factory reset. I've never had to perform one on my life, even now using my unrooted replacements G2. Never got around to rooting this one and also currently using apps which require me to remain unrooted. Now, being that I'm unrooted now, there could be the small chance of a system file getting corrupted etc that I wouldn't be able to fix, but if that happened I'd just root, fix the issue, and unroot.
Kind of went of track there, most likely due to the fact that performing a factory reset is always thrown around as the first step in trying to solve any issue on the phone. In rare cases like a corrupted file in a directory you can't access and you don't want to out can't root your phone, then yes. The Verizon telephone service people (I don't like giving them a title...some are very good at what they do but...we won't go there) are famously guilty for using resets the magic portion that cures all ailments.
Anyways, the point that I was trying to make before going on that rant was those posts on the other forum was what prompted me to investigate battery concerns, because from what I thought, KitKat was supposed to improve on battery consumption by (no clue the accuracy that numbers as I don't have an official source) up to 20%.
On KitKat I've been getting around 5-6 hours of battery life. So far I'm at 37% battery left, with 4 hours and 17 minutes since being unplugged with an estimated 1 hour and 57 minutes left. Doesn't sound very good does it for the average G2 does it? Not until you realize screen on time has been 4 hours and 6 minutes, with my main activities being surfing forums and typing a LOT as well as some time dedicated to my favorite mobile game at the moment which also happens to use more battery than ant other game I've played...Avabel Online (IgN is Styrael if anyone plays - lvl 64 gunslinger)
I haven't run across anything out of the ordinary yet when it comes to battery life but kids still early. Sorry for the long post there, I think I'll get back to Avabel. I hope the 100% exp, jexp (job experience), and drop rare bonuses are still in effect.

Please explain!!!

Ive had a few questions when it comes to my trial with samsung devices and this is where my story starts..
So I have had a mirage of Samsung devices starting with the Note 2, to the Galaxy s4, and now currently the Note 3. I have put as much time and effort as my noob abilities will allow me to and I'm honestly trying to figure out a couple of things. Throughout all these devices in less than one year I have realized that I can only get my battery to supply modest results. I have torn through xda and have done almost every solution out there to in order to increase my battery life. With no impacting results I sit here truly wondering how is it that people can really get more than a day out of these phones. I have honestly never been able to get any of these phones to 5-6 hours screen on time and more than 24 hours off the charger. I evny the people that swear they are heavy users and still get great battery life, but I just dont see how this is possible from my experience...
I would say on a normal day i use the device moderatly and somewhat carefully as to retain the battery life to the fullest. I normally have my phone on WiFi for about half the day but I do browse and do a bit on LTE too. I use all kinds of social apps (twitter, instagram, fb, hangouts for sms, etc) that are all using push notifications. I have a university email that uses exchange and that is push as well. I stream all my music using Google play music daily but also a lot on WiFi. I search the web a lot and use flipboard constantly. I hardly use any games except at home when I know I have my charger. So one of my questions is, does this classify me as a heavy user comparing to all of you people?
I have tried almost everything.. Wake lock detector, turning off absolutely everything location based, app ops, power saver for when I'm at work (8+ hours), turning off all the smart features, low brightness, turning off bloat, etc. But still nothing too spectacular for results. Keep I'm mind I'm all stock and for now I dont really want to change that. So my main question after that long story is, am I missing something? Should I be getting better battery life after all these attempts? Is my battery life ok for how I use my phone? Are there any other options so I can be like the people getting monster battery life?
What made me write this post is because I was at BestBuy and one of the Samsung reps had the same Verizon note 3 that I have. I asked him if I could see his battery stats (which he did not know how to find.. Wow) and his phone had been on for over a day and had 7 hours of screen on time.. It blew me away that he was getting extraordinary battery life and obviously didnt do a thing to try to preserve it.
Keep in mind the battery stats posted are actually some of the best Ive had when it comes to screen on time so usually its dead after about 16 hrs and 3 hrs screen on time.

if your doing graphic intensive stuff on the internet it will destroy your battery. The fact your chrome used almost as much battery as your screen makes me believe there's something wrong there..
My chrome browsing basically just consists of normal web pages and some embedded videos on news and sports sites. Is that enough to cause that much damage?

It shouldn't. But just to be sure, whenever you're done using your phone at times you can go into task manager holding down the home button and click the clear memory button under the RAM tab. That will stop all processes from continuing to run when you're done using them

I would also consider giving chrome a break and using a different browser to see if you battery life improves. I'm currently using Boat Browser but there are several browsers.

Yeah I agree that something just doesn't seem right with Chrome using about as much battery as your screen. Try another browser, make sure you clear your recent apps, and turn off anything that you are not going to be using. I turn off all of the touch sounds and haptic feedback, as well as smart stay and air gestures, etc..I never really seemed to get the battery life that I thought I should be getting whenever I was on the Stock ROM.
Maybe chrome is the culprit but I do clear the ram and close apps all the time.. Its just frustrating that I'm trying everything and nothing seems to be changing much..

I personally like Firefox and Opera Mini, it's a matter of personal preference though. There are a bunch of browsers out there. I also use Battery Doctor and Clean Master to clear cache, junk files and applications running in the background. If your rooted you can download "Greenify" which would probably help you as well.

I have the Greenify Donation app, and love it. Stopped using Chrome because it was tearing my battery life down, using the Stock Browser and Boat Browser at times. Greenify also helps with some other apps that just keep running even though I didn't use them during the day. The only thing I have as an exception, is my Blackberry Messenger to communicate with my family abroad during the day and that app has been behaving nicely. Everything else, minus HD Widgets, has been Greenified, and I can go all day (unplug at 7A, plug back in around 9P with plenty of juice left.
So this is what I get after a long period using wakelock detector. Does anyone have any insight as to what this all means. What does the x538 refer to and how does this app show how it's affecting my phone? One is the CPU wake lock and the other is the screen.

The 538 is how many times it has woken the phone up (wake lock).
