And I'm wondering what the ration actually is, a person that has a 100% working tablet would not create a topic to complain, so we see a lot of complaints and less praise.
I've had the tablet for a few days now, so far I'm happy with it. Of course something could always be better.
Stock. I was very unhappy. Now rooted and rom'd I'm very happy. The stock software does not seem optimized at all.

i also use an A700 and compared to the tf300 its not even near. it got better with the new alpha custom rom that pawitp release 2 days ago but compared to my tf300 with aokp its nothing (also the GP10.1 & 10.1N are not in its league)

on stock i was a bit disappointed in the performance, but after rooting and using Brows2RAM....i am very satisfied with my purchase.
anyone that is having browser hangs, i suggest searching browse2ram on the xda forums...it helps a lot with the browser hang.

As everyone has stated, stock was just ok. I use the browser a lot so at first I was disappointed. I immediately rooted and installed browser to ram, but I was still wanting a little more performance out of it. So when seanz posted Asus-Hydro, I was really excited because I was wanting an optimized, stock-based rom. After a few weeks running it I can safely say I am 100% satisfied with the tablet.
Same as most, very happy now that its rooted and running jelly bean.

I'm very satisfied with my TF300T. The only things I really don't like aren't related to the tablet at all and may not even really be Android related. There are several apps that I would like to use that are available on iOS that just don't have any decent Android counterparts. I'm not really a fan of iOS overall, however, so I wouldn't ever get an iPad.
The stock ROM on the TF300T had numerous browser issues, but since I've switched to AOKP, I haven't noticed any issues with it.
am very happy , stook room and rooted. best bang for the buck:good:
Also, happy with stock and rooted. I experience some browser-lag, but nothing is this world is perfect. Coming from ICS on the Wetab (x86 Atom tablet, originally with linux) the TF300T is really good.

Edit: changed this morning to the Hydro ICS ROM, which is nice (a bit snappier)
I'm pretty disappointed that the build quality is so bad.. the screen moves, I get bleeding light from the corners. There is so many things that could of been better. It feels like it is about to fall apart. Aside from the hardware, there is like nothing that takes advantage of the Tegra 3. Plus most video players can't even handle the stuff I am watching. Don't comment on videoplayers to try, I have tried them all.
Im fairly satisfied. Rooted and on a stock based ROM. My only complaint is it feels slower than my Xoom and my Xoom only is a dual core... but i havent tried all the ROMS available for this yet... im about to flash CM10 actually.... lol but may try the ASUS-Hydro one mentioned earlier instead.

Extremely satisfied with my TF300T. I have been running the AOKP Jellybean ROM since it's release and it has blown my mind away.
This tablet has been everything I could have desired, plus some. It has easily been one of the best purchases I have ever made.
I was a bit dissapointed for a month even after rooting and running CM9.
the reason was slow browsing, i kept wondering, how the hell can a quadcore browse slower than my dualcore phone
today i found browser2ram, i can now say that i am 100% satisfied
root+CM9+browser2ram equals awesome tablet

Well, have either of you overclocked? It does make a huge difference.
Flash any of the kernels from Revolver parts, I suggest Blade 1.2ghz or Prime OC. And then you can use SetCPU or any other method you have read about, such as Daemon OC from the kernel page of Revolver parts.

i kay_kat88!i remember you in the gt-p1000 section when i had that device...good to see you here!
i write you 2 things....
with revolver rom you can tweak and adjust your rom with mods and addons simply downloading from market revolver parts apk.(gnufabio has a donate, free and elite version of this..)
to have it working you must have:
root e cwm
microsd inserted
wifi and not 3g enable....
with this app you can also install kernels, update and very important do ota's when ready.
to overclock your tablet you can simply install a oc\uv kernel likes blade's,clemsyn's or prime's....or download the daemon controller from kernel tab in revolver parts to have the daemon oc (if you don's know what is that, read and look for on google)
on revolver rom you can also have 3g working if you want to use a web stick attacched in dock's usb connector....you must flash 3g revolver plugin from revolver parts and read 3ad here in general or q\a section(kasimodo 3ad says that in a optimal method)
hope this helps a little....

I'm pretty pleased with the smoothness in the browser but it may be that the S2 is smoother (although its scrolling behavior is a little different in general), because it is a phone has a far lower resolution, it is running Android 2.3 it has Samsung's superb 1.2GHz Exynos dual core chip (possibly even better then Tegra2) plus Samsung's great hardware acceleration.
But also the Transformer should become a bit smoother with the coming Ice cream sandwich update.
This is what changes I have noticed when going from 3.2.x to 4.0.3 on the TF201, and I will be curious to see what is ROM/Hardware dependent versus the TF101 running 4.0.3+.
ICS is different than HC or GB, trust me once you get used to it, you will not want to go back. The new settings menu takes getting used to and swipping away stuff is AWESOME.
Holy $#@! that's fast! I've always found HC on the OG Transformer to be pretty smooth and more consisently so than Windows machines I've used, same on the TF201 out of the box and I was not impressed with the Tegra 3. Once I updated my Prime to ICS last night, I had to give buttery smooth a new meaning. I don't know how much of this will roll back to the TF101s ROM but it was noticable to me on the TF201 Prime. Assumably it is either changes to hardware acelleration (n.b. Tegra 3 > Tegra 2), or ASUS optimized the holy frakking hell out of it compared to their HC; if they take/have taken the time for our TF101s, it can only be goodness....
Stock browser seems improved enough to deserve revisiting (I didn't test it on the Prime before the ICS update) but doubt it is worth switching back to.
Issues like widgets and such I can't say, because I didn't check before updating my TF201 ICS. Built in apps, I don't know if we will get a back port because I didn't notice any difference pre/post ICS, so I guess it's a good thing someone here did. The Prime's version of the File Manager app, doesn't suck like ours does!
And have I ever mentioned, Tapatalk needs better support for rendering BBCode?

As far as smoothness on ics. My mytouch 4g, with its single core qualcom, is running alot better on a beta ics build with limited hw acceleration so I can imagine that ics will be a huge dose of smooth on the tf101.
ICS is definitely a huge evolution over HC or GB. I've been enjoying it on my Galaxy Nexus for about a month now. Massive improvements in the feel of the OS (swiping, folders, etc.) and I'm very pleased with the stock browser. The recent programs feature is fantastic. Especially if you do a lot of switching between apps, or in and out of the settings page and you want to resume exactly where you left off. I look forward to comparing the feel of a phone version to that of the tablet version on my TF101, hopefully soon!
Its also buttery smooth on the nexus s with its now feeble single core.

Same as above, a i have the Incredible 2 running a beta version of ICS.
I literally can't go back to CM7 or any sense rom because the speed difference is massive, i feel like i've just downgraded phones if i flash back. So i just keep going without a camera because i can't stand the sluggishness of GB.
So i'm guessing we will see some pretty big speed enhancements, especially after they get kernels going. I can't wait, i'm one of those guys that prefers as much speed as possible i just never need to save much batter.
I guess than once we get ICS next month, we will see how well the Tegra 2 GPU stacks up against old Adreni 200 series lol.

Well it might help with the prime that they uped the clock speed it from like 1.3 to 1.6 ghz
based on my experience in galaxy s with beta ics and not even a leaked official, the ics is just AWESOME.
so fast and smooth and yes, browser works perfectly.
i guess its the time where android reached a mature state.
Re: Ics tf101
Based on what I saw on the beta in the dev forum. I would say things are looking very good. It was noticable snappy from what i sampled. I liked it soo much i would have stayed on it if it wert for the sleep of death issue i was having. It was a fun experiment.
Its very nice for what it is.

Most likely they will overclock the kernal like thy did on the prime. Hopefully (wish) the stock kernal will come with overclocked ram, GPU, and CPU. And undervolting.
Yea, ICS will run heavy on any Adreno 200. I have an old Droid Incredible running an ICS ROM and it is noticably laggy during screen transitions. I have a friend however that runs an ICS ROM on his DROID X and it runs smooth as butter.

what does every think of the departure of the Context Menu button, and the impact it will have on quick access to options?
I saw this on the Galaxy Nexus, i believe it's common to ICS
Honeycomb never really had the Menu button, so it's not a big loss on the tablet front.

It has the same 3 buttons with the context button apearing like the three dots on the galaxy nexus when needed. Also has the bar at the top (dont remember what the official name is) with other context related stuff.

I fail to understand why the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 performs so horribly compared to my Galaxy Nexus even when the GNex is in completely stock and unrooted/modified form.
My Tab 2 suffers so much graphical stuttering, lag, etc that I can't even stand using it. Some of the initial custom ROM's (Clean ROM and InfectedROM) help with this but it's still so uncomfortable to use!
Does Samsung's additions to Android really suck that bad?
Sorry if this sounds too much like a rant. I just really wasn't expecting such poor performance when seeing the specs. I wasn't expecting Tegra3 performance but damn, I just need things to stop hiccuping and stuttering all over the place.
Yes there Addons do suck up a lot of performance. I can tell when I switch roms.

I have a 7 2 and on the stock touchwiz it is very sluggish compared to a lot of other tabs. Its a lot better when you debloat or run cm9 or aokp. Stock is just to bulky with to many background processes. My opinion if your going to stay stock return it if you think its to slow because it won't get better.

Even debloating the stock and using an overclocked kernel its slow. Aokp and cm9 are the only way to go IMO. I rooted and switched ROM's an hour into ownership. I made sure cm9/root/cwm was out before purchasing. If you dislike the lagging, flash it.

The P5100OXXALD9 stock kernel is a jewel. Sure, I cooked my own ROM, had a bunch of stuff to fix, but the Samsung bloatware is all but gone now and using CM9 apps instead of that bloat helps a lot. The UI is a lot smoother now and I no longer get any frames skipped during scrolling etc.
So, after shaving off 250MB of bloat and tweaking the kernel and the ramdisk just a bit, my P5100 feels like something else. It's still about 40% stock and the kernel is also almost stock, so there is still room for a lot of improvements. For now, it's better than what I expected.
It's not impossible, just a lot of work :-D

I ended up trying your ROM even though I have a 5113 and it is, by far, the best running of the 3. I can accept a few extra useless menu options and a "you don't have a cell phone signal" icon for the added smoothness.
Thanks for your work!
I just got this bad boy, and I gotta say I'm pretty happy with it. Anyway I wouldn't mind a slight speed/functionality buff. I've always been rooted and ROM'd (generally CM, TW on the GS line) on all of my Android devices (can't stand the OEM looks), but now on the TF300 you have a pretty much stock experience, so I'm a bit puzzled. I don't wanna use JB ROMs right now because they're still a bit crippled functionality wise, but I'm really looking forward to try some custom ICS goodness. Basically I can't decide between CM nightlies, AOKP and Hydro. Hydro seems to be the big hit around here, but I'd really love to hear from some users about pros and cons of each option. Here's what I'm after: main thing is smoothness, especially in the browser, then obviously UI smoothness, overall speed, stability and gaming performance. I'm not really concerned about battery life, but obviousy a decent performance wouldn't hurt. Oh, and I'd love to have good HDMI functionality, that really matters to me.
Maybe you guys can share your experience with the said ROMs and help me decide, Thanks

Well I've used them all and am currently on CleanRom right now and love it. Hydro is a nice rom but I feel the "smoothness" has gone away due to the dev trying to speed up the animations too much, making them open and close faster but more choppy. It is fast though and props to seanz for it. CM is still being worked out so as far as everything working all the time? Not quite. Same pretty much goes with AOKP. CleanRom is pretty nice so far. Stock but slightly optimized for speed and bloat. With the new TWRP that can restore Nandroids correctly', id say just start testing them all and make a Nandroid of stock brother.

i want to ask u guys if i should update to ics
becuase i heared that honeycomb was better than ics
and ics is full of problem
such as the battery drain , some lags and many problems
is that true or what
and is updating to ics better than honeycomb
I have contemplated going back to Honeycomb many times, even as recent as last week, I've been trying to assess what features I'd miss from ICS and Jelly Bean (I'm using CM10) and apart from a few 4.x and up only apps, there's nothing to keep me there other than the "want" to be running the latest and greatest, I know some people say they had issues, but I don't recall having any when using Overcome 2.3.1 ROM and jumped ship as there was not going to be anymore development.
There's nothing stopping you from upgrading and going back to HC if you find that the grass, isn't greener.

had that thought a couple of days ago, as well.
what keeps me going from JB to HC are the superb notifications, UI performance, google now, multitasking menu, FOLDERS. Though 3.2->4.x is more of a shuffle, than a huge leap, I still prefer to have something more or less latest and improved on my device

Just a quick update, I've moved BACK to honeycomb, Overcome 2.3.1 to be precise, just for a bit, to see what I'd miss.
The fact that there is no lag in videos is a big big plus, and using adw launcher gives the smoothness of ics (big leap from the last time I used it).
There are little things like, Google now and as someone mentioned before, the notifications, but having completely lag free video playback is a blessing to have back again.
I'm going to stick with it for a few days, then test the official ICS, then CM9 and make an informed decision of which is better pros and cons etc...

I love it, its more fluid, faster, looks better also.
I only root my tab, i dont play with the roms and stuff so to me its just a question of staying up to date.

So far, for me and my little experiment, I have fired up YouTube after each new ROM and after the tab has settled down with updates etc, the honeycomb ROM produces no stutter at all, just fluid video, as soon as I go to ICS or higher it appears, however on JellyBean ICS 7 (i think that's what it was called) it is there, just much less of a problem compared to the others, but I still have to try CM9 to conclude the testing.
Swyped, from my finger to your face, on my Samsung Galaxy Note II
To be honest, I am using AOKP JB and I did not see the lags you are talking about.
Yes.
I updated to ICS about months ago, i really liked it, it's interface is kinda like the S3, except in tablet mode.
I didn't really see any battery draining problems, the battery was just like 3.1 or 3.2, so i suggest you update.
I used the official rom from sammobile, just search this on Google : P7500JPLPC_P7500OJPLP8_XSG.zip , and take the link from hotfile.
I've tried a few roms and the best HC from was from Task650. I then went to CM9 which was pretty good and stuck with that from for some time. Task650 then released a modified official stock ICS, this rom was very stable and pretty much bug free. JB was released and went to pershoot's CM 10 experimental, was also good but was buggy and experienced a few crashes and non working apps. Because of this I tried Tryptosyll's AOKP JB from and things didn't improve much better. The JB roms are great and credit is due to those developers but I'll wait until a more bug free JB rom is available. I've always been a fan of Task650 roms so went back to Task650 ICS, but development of this rom has not been as as active as his previous excellent roms. Right now for me the best rom for my tab is Craigtut's Fourth bar:Revolution ICS rom, again based on the official stock from. It's heavily modified and I find it to be the fastest and smoothest rom and is pretty bug free for my tab. Also there is no lag in YouTube and no battery drain issues. I am currently running this from with the latest Yoda kernel with CPU running in interactive mode and over clocked up to 1.2GHz.
