So I know ps3 controller wirelessly needs root, but it seems like people are able to use controllers wired while stock. Interested in getting a super nes controller and otg adapter to play snesoid and nesoid games. Haven't seen a write up yet and got no idea what apps I need to get the controller to work with it. Already have the emulator up and running

When my N7 was stock I just plugged in my xbox 360 controller and it natively worked . Didnt need to do anything special . Remember not all games support controllers .. I didnt try out any other emulators or controllers but from what I hear from others.. some work.....some do not.

For me I just plugged in the PS3 controller then pushed the little round button in the middle of the controller. Once I did that I could use the analog stick to move the icon around the screen. Then I simply loaded Dead Trigger and it was already mapped. Really it was that simple for me.

I thought a few people might find this useful.
As the title says The OTA update I received today (16th July) seems to have added support for the wired xbox 360 controller.
I have tried the with cordy (a game from the android market) and two emulators - Nesoid and N64oid and it works fine once the keys have been mapped. It kept saying <unknown> but it does at least recognize the key presses.

nice. that will make gaming super awesome now on the TF.
Very handy actually, as all the Xbox games that have been released for the last year and a bit have been utter ****e and nothing new on the horizon either, so I could do with a reason to find another use for the controller. Off to get some batteries and try this out.
I still want wireless other than the wii controller, sigh.

Batteries?
Isn't the support for the wired controller only?

PS3 SixAxis is wireless
Does the ps3 controller work as a bluetooth gamepad? I haven't tried.
So tonight I had some free time and decided to give Shadowgun a try after playing through the First level I found my self on a mission.
What I ended up doing was connecting a Xbox 360 controller into the usb slot and changed the games settings to make it pay like a console shooter.
Hardware controller beats software anyway.
Does anyone else feel the same or have tried this yet?

Was just wondering if anyone had tried the OnLive Android client on this? It's obviously not officially supported yet, but there is a fair chance that it will work.
Thanks.

Thanks, was just thinking that I hadn't seen anyone run it on JB, and there may be some compatibility issue there.
Would still like to see if someone can actually get it running. I am tempted to pick up one of the universal controllers if I am sure it works well with this.
im getting onlive for sure! i just need to find a good controller for my tegra hd games.
Thought I'd bump this existing thread since the N7's are in a lot of people's hands now. Has anyone had a chance to try the controller yet?
I'm interested in getting a controller for my N7 and until the Nyko Android PlayPads are released. Thought this might be the best way to go in the meantime.
Cheers,
Kermee
I have just sold a brand new controller on eBay as I had two sent and they didn't want it back ?!? Very accommodating are on live ... lol
Have not used my on live yet but the N7 run games (in app) amazingly well.
I think On live will work just as good

I've used OnLive on the N7 - works great. I haven't got a controller for it though.
Same for me using it right now on Nexus7 to play Lego Batman and its working great!

This is a patched onlive app that allows any controller to work by default. Like sixaxis pps3.

How are you using a xbox 360 controller when you can't connect it to the n7?

I had previously bought an official receiver so that I could use my wireless Xbox controller to play games on my Windows PC.
Now I just plug the receiver into a USB OTG cable connected to my N7. Just tap the button on the receiver and the connect button on the controller, and job done. You can use the Xbox controller to navigate and play games.
Thanks for that information I'm waiting on my cable and ill try my wired xbox control I've already got the patched apk installed

OnLive and the official universal controller works great.
1. I was wondering If any of these apps were compatable with a ps3 controller or a Wii classic controller.
- modern combat 3
- minecraft pe
- emulators (I know they work on a Wii classic using wiimote, but can you use a ps3 controller?)
- sims 3
- real racing 2
- samurai 2
- Bang bang racing
- galaxy on fire 2
- vendetta online
- backbreaker
- Guerilla bob
2. I know lots of games that the ps3 controller works on and I know you can play emulators with a Wii classic controller using wiimote, but can you use the ps3 controller for emulators or the Wii classic controller for games controller adapted?
I would love to see the classic extension recognized.
Has anyone heard of an app that will map gamepads (especially Bluetooth) to traditional controls for apps without support?
How about emulating a pointer with the wiimote or six axis

I know of sixaxis but I'd rather not root. I'm not very techy and I feel like I'd make a mistake while rooting.
Anyone else?
a few months late, but here is something that may interest you that I posted in another thread.

Were you aware of these? http://is.gd/SHLYdT and http://is.gd/lt2XDs and http://is.gd/WYM2EU They have apps in Play store too.
Thanks for that info!!! This will really be great if they start getting the touch mapping up and running. I also informed my guys at DroidGamers.
Purchased Zombie Driver yesterday and noticed a gamepad can be used with it. What do I need to do to get a PS3 controller to work with the game?

Download the SixAxis app from the Play Store and link them, pretty much it to be honest mate.
Also is the game any good mate?
Its not bad actually. Haven't spent a massive amount of time on it due to trying to get a PS3 controller configured lol.

Did you manage to find the SixAxis?
If not:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dancingpixelstudios.sixaxiscontroller&hl=en
It is a paid app but buy it, give it a quick go and if it doesnt work/you dont like it get it refunded, if not keep it and enjoy your PS3 controller

I bought it, sync'd, and can't figure out how to get the controller to control the screen. It definitely pairs, and I've enabled it under input methods.. game just doesn't react to it. Color me confused.
There's an option in SixAxis to change how the controller interacts with the device. You can have the controller map to "touch areas" on your screen. So pressing a button will touch a particular area on the screen.
You should also have an option to have the controller be a gamepad, so games should see you have a "gamepad" connected. I do this when playing Modern Combat 3. I set it to a gamepad, and when I play the game, I just map the buttons normally. The R3/L3 sticks also should move as analog.
