I have a question with my Kindle Fire CM9
Every time I connect it via USB can not copy file without problem. When I ejeto Kindle Fire the device can no longer access the "sdcard". It takes a boot to it again accessing "/ mnt / sdcard".
Is there any way to fix this so you do not need to boot?
(sorry my english)

You have to turn off usb mounting(or whatever its called) before you can access the sdcard. Unplugging the usb doesn't do it automatically.

Hello all Nob here...
Rooted my Fire using jcase's (THANKS jcase) Burrito Root 3, Then installed the Google Svcs., and the Market. Problem is that I can no longer see the Fire when I connect it to the computer (Win 7, 64), The Fire says it's connected and that files can be downloaded but the Fire does not show up in Explorer?
What's up?
check to make sure the drivers are correct. Most issues talking to the KF resolve around driver issues.
I agree, it sounds like a driver issue. Use Windows device manager and uninstall the kindle drivers, then reinstall them. Restart computer. Should be good to go.
Thanks guys...found the driver and all is we'll
Thanks again

I did a factory restore and I downloaded KFU to try to root my kindle fire. I used the USB driver installer that comes with the KFU and now my computer no longer recognizes the kindle fire. It does make a sound when I plug it into my computer but the hard drive doesn't show up anymore. I've tested it with different cables with same result. Any suggestions?
If youre hearing the sound the computer sees a device but probably doesnt know what you have connected. Is it listed in device manager as "unknown device"? Seems like your drivers did not install properly (I'm assuming your kindle boots up properly just isn't recognized by the PC)

Please download the Kindle Fire Utitlity
What you need to do is extract and navigate to a batch file that is called install_drivers. This will reinstall the drivers for you and make it possible to see the kindle when you run the adb command
Here is the link for KFU

My computer does not read my kindle fire as a usb mass storage device anymore. I just installed the ICS gedeROM and all is great except for that little detail. I am a noob in need of help, would someone please help get the proper drivers for this. Also, it recognizes my Kindle as a Galaxy Nexus, but it can not mount the kindle as a drive and therefore I can´t transfer any files. Please hlep me! Thanks!!!

When you plug it in, you should see a usb symbol in the notification bar. Click it and enable the usb. Also, uninstall the drivers for your Kindle Fire. That worked for me.

I did this, didn't work.
You also have to disable Android debugging under Settings->Developer options
Works now!

Thanks a lot Josepho 1997 and Fast Mikey 1969! Apparently it was the usb debbuging feature that was not letting me mount my drive. Now I am going through the painful process of installing all my apps. I will also see what to do with the drivers that came with the Kindle Fire Utility software. I am such a noob that I don´t even know where the drivers are stored, maybe under c:/program files/android? I know I can check them through devices and printers and maybe look for one specifically on my computer or the web. Thanks a lot for all your help!
Do yourself a favor and buy Titanium Backup Pro if you plan on flashing more roms. WELL worth the price.

do this..in 99% of the cases this should work..dont have your kindle fire connected to pc while doing this..
goto settings>>storage>>three dots on top right of the screen(more options)>>USB computer connection>>select mass storage..
reboot and connect your kindle fire to pc..if u ever run AOKP ICS roms dont search for this option..aokp roms dont have this option in storage option..u will have to flash a different rom(mostly cm9) and select mass storage for usb connection and revert back to aokp rom without wiping data in recovery..
click thanks if this works..
Help please,
my pc do not found my kindle over usb in under win 7 in the Explorer.
I can not copy and transfer files to my kindle via USB.
Under SYSTEM it shows a kindle fire with Android ADB Interface.
Sorry for my bad english.
I had to find my kindle in device manager and tell it to update the device driver before I got MTP support on my kindle. Give that a shot.

to fix it if you on windows 7
go to start
search device manager
find your kindle fire
left click on android adb interface
and click uninstall.
just to be on the safe side remove ur kindle
and restart ur computer
also on your fire go to options> security and disable ADB
try connecting your kindle now and check if it worked if it didnt msg me
this solved half of the problem!!
I did as you suggested and i no longer have the mtp driver problem however it still sees the kindle as an unspecified device when i go in device and printers..in the device manager it only comes up as android phone.
What can i do to have it show up as kindle in my computers so i can transfer files back and forth!!??

Hey all.
I have a 4.3 stock Nexus 10 that I'm having some problems with USB. I can create and modify folders using ES File Manager on my tablet, but when I try to view the USB of my Nexus 10 on my PC they don't show up. This is a problem as it means I can't modify/edit/delete etc the folders on my PC. Does anyone else have this problem, or a fix for it?
Thanks!

Hi,
Did you try another PC? This issue never happened to me before, but it looks like your PC isn't recognizing your tablet folders correctly. Does the folder still exists after you exit ES File Manager?

There are some limitations on the stock Nexus 10 when using a media server (i.e. MTP). Most Nexus devices that have a microSD card support MTP and provide full access via USB connection. Since the N10 does not have a microSD option, you don't have MTP support and have to use PTP instead as your USB connection which will only provide limited access. For rooted N10s there are other alternatives that can be found using a google search and/or these forums.
Because of this, I personally use an OTG connection to transfer large files or use AirDroid. In emergency situations, I have pushed and pulled files from the N10 using Nexus 10 Toolkit or Wugfresh's Nexus Toolkit.

Maybe you have "USB debugging" activated in Settings\Developer Options\Debugging. Turn USB Debugging OFF and your PC will see your N10.
Another possibility is the Drivers are not updated or not correctly installed in PC. Good Luck!
Hey all. I think it may just be an app-specific problem. I was using Manga+ to download manga, and whilst it'd show up in ES File Explorer, it wouldn't over USB. However, if I compressed the folder with ES File Explorer, it'd show up. Well, it's a pain but at least I can access the files. Thanks!
