What sd card is it?
I have a class 4 Sandisk of 16g and I only had to format the regular way. The camera records without lag so I didn't need to prepare it in any way. But if it's a slower card you can change the format settings to improve performance.
You can just copy everything from your old card to the new one and everything should be fine.

to format yr new card, put it into the phone, go to settings, sd and phone storage, unmount sd card, format sd card. then copy all the stuff from your old card to the new card and u're done.

Well if it's class 2 it's wise to format it to 32kb for smooth video recording. That is what I meant. It's a setting when ofrmatting it. You should do it on you PC with an adapter.

I am doing just fine with a 32 class 4. The one our phones comes with is a 8 class 2.

hmm did everything work fine when u copy pasted all ur apps and suff?
i will say this do not get a cheap memento card off ebay
as i bought 2 different ones of two seperate supliers and they both were fake
im using a 32gb class 10
it works very well but comes with a higher price tag
its all about what u are prepared to spend to have the best card u can get
but when it comes to transfering data etc a class ten speeds along
as i had to copy over 22gb of data etc when i got my new card

Yeah they all work fine. I just made sure u copied everything INCLUDING the hidden files. Wasn't sure if those were important or not but assumed they were to be safe.

Just wanna ask, which is better, 32MB swap or 256MB swap? Also I've read somewhere swap size was supposed to be RAM x 2, but then again that would be pretty huge.
Neither, and 2x amount of RAM is only fitted for PC's. In reality it should be 1,5x. I myself tried using SWAP, but it slowed down my SD card a lot (reading, writing speeds). I suggest you should disable the SWAP completely because SGY has got a very good RAM management by default, thus no need for SWAP. I myself never ran into RAM-related issues. Also, as you know, SWAP is A LOT slower than RAM.
just use 256 bro.
I'm using 256 MB. Is stable with a2sd.
I'm afraid to try this one...i've read some threads about it, and is it safe for me to do it even if my sd card is not class 10?, sorry im just a newbie
When using swap the lifetime from sd card will go down.
GREEEEEEEEEETZ!!!
Does link2sd support for swap?

Yes, link2sd support swap but you Kernel must support swap to work.
Sorry but i didnt find a topic about this on NEXUS 7 forum.
A few questions:
1 - Anyone knows if N7 can support all sizes of microSD? (2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128..so on)
2 - What the lowest CLASS do i need to play videos without problem?
3 - What the lowest CLASS do i need to play GAMES without problem? (using life02 thread
4 - What about battery consume when using the MicroSD/OTG?
5 - I will post some links and you guys tell me which one should be better or trustble
Option 1 Samsung 32GB Class10
Option 2 Sandisk 32GB Class10
Option 3 Patriot 32GB Class 10
I dont have much money so the first option will always be the best one (Unless some1 tell to forget about)
Thanks You all (Sry bad spelling and gramatic)
The Nexus 7 does NOT have a microSD slot. No expandable memory at all.
EDIT- Oops you mean for OTG? In my experience anything Class 6 or above is fine, Amazon has a class 10 16GB for a good price.
I personally would not use a class 10 for anything other than movies, music, and pictures. They are awful at small random IO.

No, it will not work with ANY SD card.
There is no Micro SD slot.
There is no expandable memory.

I believe the OP knows that, I think they are looking for a microSD to use with a card reader.

Ah, way to make myself look stupid. I wanted to make sure he didn't glance over the posts, since it seemed he only focussed on the speed issue.
And it turns out, I glanced over the OP's post too quickly myself.
Can somebody confirm Nexus 7 can handle a 64GB MicroSD card? Much obliged.

For movies you shouldn't have a problem. Probably okay for games too if it is just the extra asset data. Now getting a game to install on an external SD card is a whole other story, you might need to manually copy it over and create symlinks. Could be a bit of trouble.
When the Nexus was first out I heard there were problems getting apps to see movies on an OTG storage, I think there was a root solution to that, but I am not sure. There might even be a simpler solution since then.
Note: I've not done any of this myself, just basing it on my general knowledge on how Android and Linux works.
Using a cheap OTG cable and a generic SD Card (full size; not micro) Reader, I can play movies just fine. Since full size SD are cheaper per gb than micro, I'm not sure why anyone would want to use micro cards, but whatever floats your boat. My N7 is rooted, but stock. I installed StickMount. All my cards are Class 10 or UHS 1

I did not paid attention when people started to complain about the low memory matter and ended up buying a 16GB i9500, now that I know what's the problem is there an alternative for this? what do you recommend ?

Like what Saad2687 said. My advise dont get scandisk though. I have samsung 32 gig class 10 and its amazing.
Yes I got a 32GB Samsung, but the thing is with the installations and all the bloat, is there something I can do? With my S3 I used aroma debloater it was awesome it left my phone free of non useful stuff.
Brother i am infact using sandisk 32gb class 10 micro sd from past 20 days and its great no problems at all.

Use onboard storage only for apps and move media (photos, songs, videos) and documents onto SD card. But dont cheap out to buy any no name or cheap class 4 card. Class 10 is a must.
Root ya phone and grab titanium backup. You can uninstall about 900mb of crap such as eye scrolling etc...

As the others said, get a SD card. Also VERY helpful is Folder Mount as it lets you remap the /sdcard/Android folder from the internal memory to the external SD card which gets around the problem that most apps want to store everything inside those folders or directly in /sdcard.

Thanks I'll give it a try. that's what I was looking for.
Got myself a 64gb Samsung pro microsd and moved all my images/videos/music.
I only use my internal storage for apps.

32 GB external SD Card
Move anything that isn't apps (music, movies, any extra files) onto the external SD card. Get at least a 32gb and you should be golden.
Save to the SD instead internal memory

get another 16/32 Gig card, that should suffice.
i am suing sandisk 16 gig for the past 1 year and no issues till now, and most of the times its a life saver as i keep everything in my sd card (music pic etc)...
My setup which 16gb users might like.
My phone is 16gb
My sdcard is 32gb
But thays not enough space so i added an extra 64gb via usb
The method to mount usb is OTG in a modified case.
(*please note just use the usb when you need it as it obviously drains battery faster)
Here is a image of modified case

This didn't work for me.
/sdcard is a link to /storage/emulated/0
that's internal mounted fuse
/storage/extSdCard is real sdcard mounted normally.
It's 4.2s storage problem
in previous versions it was as.simple.as editing fstab.

I don't really put a lot of stuff on my phone as I have a separate mp3 player on me at all times, so the space taken up by bloat wasn't really a problem. I already had a 32GB card on me though so I slapped that in.
