To Root:
1.Run Odin from the downloaded file and add only 1 file
--PDA:Put the CF-Root file that you just downloaded
--(Image Attached :2)--
2.Attached the phone in Download mode (As Mentioned Earlier)
--wait for it to be recognised by odin..
3.Hit the start button and wait for a few seconds

(This checks if your phone is rooted or not)
Enjoy

Not again, why do you keep on posting in dev section?

I'm sry but WAT'S THE PASSWORD!!! for first zip?

Tchindalia:
1. Start reading stickies

2. As a consequence of understanding 1.)
Tell moderator you have posted in wrong section (Dev) when the right place would be (General).
3. If not 2.)
You will probably get reported.
I would recommend reading Ramads thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14273101
instead of yours. He has already answered the questions people are going to ask here.

Can I flash this to my hunagrian (PANJV2) device? In other words, can I flash firmware other than Hungarian to my Hungarian phone?

yes, you can flash any firmware to it, 90%+ of firmwares have Hungarian language in them

Excelsior!
Thanks very much for this guide, it was quite clear cut and helpful. Only things I mention incase anyone else has similar issues; getting the installer for the Samsung drivers to work on W8 took many clicks and admin access and I had to track down Odin 1.7 for it to work.

thank you for the excellent post. breathed new life in my old phone

Thank you!

Voodoo install from OCLF Ryan bricked the Vibrant

I had the update with OCLF installed and it worked fine until I decided "accidentally" (very very regretful now) to install Voodoo from the OCLF app. Then the phone went into a soft reset and got stuck at the Vibrant screen.
Since then I've tried to select "install packages" or "reboot system" options in the recovery mode, but it showed only a partial progress bar at the bottom, then it got stuck at the Vibrant screen.
I gave Odin a try but the app does not see any com port after use ADB reboot or recovery commands.
Btw I did NOT select USB debugging mode before installing voodoo. I did install the USB driver for the Vibrant but am not sure it even works because the Odin app did not see any com port.
Any help is appreciated! I don't want to loose data and files in the internal storage. This is kinda urgent because I need to use phone.

The same thing happened to me. I even posted it yesterday to warn people to be careful with RYANZA Voodoo and I got flamed and insulted. Basically you fried your kernel. I tried different things and what worked for me was ODIN the JI6 back. Go to Vibrant Directory Bible under Samsung Vibrant--Android Development and find that thread. Go to the ODIN section and download the JI6 package. You will need to get into 'Download" mode on your Vibrant for ODIN to work. You need to have the phone plugged into computer via USB, hold down both volume buttons and the power button at the same time. When the screen becomes black, release only the power button and download mode will pop up. Then bring up ODIN and make sure the yellow com message pops up. With ODIN it will work right away (like 2 minutes). If you see it hanging then you need to try it again. When you get your phone back up you need to disable voodoo. Good luck. Know that the Vibrant is almost impossible to kill, you will be able to bring the phone back to life.

I'll give it a try later. Is there a good link to download the USB driver? I did but am not sure it will work with Odin. I also forgot to release the pwr button only when the Vibrant screen came on. You said release it at the black screen.
Theres voodoo on the oclf app? Where do you download it? When I downloaded it from the market it wasn't there. Do I need to install a supported kernel before it shows up?
Another thing is the phone is not in USB debugging mode before. Is this needed for Odin to work?
It is in OCLF app

I don't remember exactly how it looks but the app has like 3 tabs: 2nd is available, 3rd unavailable or vice versa, 1st is probably the voodoo one. BE CAREFUL, read the kernel instruction first! I am sure they are not compatible. It should be disabled one or the other so users wouldn't get hacked.
ok the 3 button procedure got the phone into Recovery mode like this screen with yellow text:
--------------------------------------
Android system recovery <2e>
reboot system now
reinstall packages
--Appling Multi-CSC
Installing Multi-CSC
------------------------------------
Selecting either "reboot system now" or "reinstall packages" gives this screen:
----------------------------------------
Installing from sd card completed
rebooting..
Phone reset done
-----------------------------------------
The phone now got stuck at the Vibrant screen!
How to get into the download mode?
Holding vols up down with battery in and then plug in the USB cable, the Downloading screen came up with the digging icon and a message "do not turn off target" but it just got stuck there. I typed in the adb reboot download under the folder containing the adb files but it said "error no device found". I installed both drivers, one from Samsung site and one x86 from Softpedia site. Is it time to get a new one?

Somewhere in the forum said that selecting the pit file will wipe all data. Is that true because I so want to keep EVERYTHING intact! Just got back from a short vacation in Waikiki
I got the PC to see the Vibrant now with Odin but I downloaded the newer tar file T959UVJI6 (2.1 updated ver) but can not see it from selecting PDA button, it can only see the old T959UVD (stock 2.1). I am at the no point of return now so within 15mins if there is no answer then I must get going.
Thanks again!
Never mind guys! my bad did not unrar the tar file..going to download it now..wish me best of luck!
ok downloading now... it is a nerve wrecking experience comparing to WM6.1 custom rom flash which was very smooth going. I still miss the original i900 Omnia. I am going to be late for the church but God please forgive me! Oh it passed the downloading and got the S logo..
it booted up but stuck at black screen with all soft keys lighted up, tried the install packages in recovery mode again..
I guess I need to download the pit file? Will this wipe out all data?
I don't have voodoo... where did you get your oclf app from? Is it not showing because I have stock JI6 kernel?

Did you follow my to-do list to the T?
this might help
you need to flash this PDA file with odin EUGENE373_SamsungS_Froyo_PDA along with the PIT 512 you should still have from the unbrick instruction odin forum then after you flash those files you need to let it do its thing it will prob take you to recovery just long press the power button and when it turns off put the usb back in the phone to get it into Download mode(just get back into download mode any way you know how) and then follow those instructions you did earlier with the unbrick instructions forum just flash the Eugene373 SamsungS Froyo PDA file first then after you flash it get right back into download mode and flash stock vibrant rom through odin.
Odin in eugenes froyo that doesnt brick.Make sure you use the 513 pit file that comes with it. When its done, pull the battery and odin the jfd. Use the 512 pit file with jfd. Check the repartition box for this one. You will be back to stock and all the lag fixes will be gone. This process works to save your vibrant from ALMOST everything
^^^oops, didnt make it to your post...just tryin to help

But use it with extreme CAUTION at your own risk. Don't brick it like mine
Again guys thanks for your time and help but just one more time, I am still a bit confused, can you list exactly what files to download in order to get the phone back alive without loosing any data and files?
Download 512 or 513 pit first? Do it together with the tar file (check both boxes in Odin)? I understand 512 pit go with JFD (stock 2.1 rom before the update). How about the latter one? It goes with JI6? Now I got only the JI6 in the phone without the pit file. Should I download 512 with JFD first then do the latter one with JI6, and all data still remain intact?

Do it again and follow the instructions .
- Make sure your device is in USB debugging mode: Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB debugging
- Reboot your device into download mode: Turn the device off, then power it on again by pressing and holding VolumeDown + Home + Power simultaneously. You will know when you are in download mode, it is really obvious
- Start ODIN
- Connect the device to your computer using USB
- Wait a few seconds, the ODIN screen should show you that a device is now connected
- Make sure that in ODIN NOTHING is checked, except the "Auto reboot" and "F. Reset Time" checkboxes. Press the "PDA" button, and select the "XWKDD_insecure.tar" file.
- Press "Start". ODIN you should now be flashing the kernel, and the device should reboot.
- Wait until the device is rebooted, and while still being connected over USB, start SuperOneClick, and press ROOT.
- Reboot the device
- Done !

Thanks for the quick reply,
thats the same file i flashed. I re-downloaded the file from the link you posted and flashed again in Odin. Same result I can confirm the phone is in usb de-bug, the phone was turned off and started in the download mode (black screen) I got pass ok in Odin. The phone restarted afterwards but i get the same. When the program gets to this stage it locks up and has to be ended by task manager. Im running windows 7 x64 pc with i7850 processor ddr3 ram..
on the tut the file is called XWKDD_insecure.tar inside the rar file on the post its called zimage with no extension, i had to manually add the .tar to get odin to view it.

Why did you extract a tar file to make a tar file the instructions are to Flash XWKDD insecure .tar . as PDA through Odin
Long guide (for beginners)
- Download the attached ODIN file and extract the .zip file
- Download the attached XWKDD, but do NOT extract the .tar file

so no problem at all!!
Hey guys , I rooted my SGS2 with XWKDD_insecure.tar and superoneclick.
Everthing worked fine.
But after a while I found out, that I couldn´t make any videos with the device´s camera. All new recorded vids couldn´t be played. Message "unrecognised file type".
So, I decided to get some other ROM. I wanded to flash the litening 2.0 Rom and flashed it with odin.
But no flash changed my device. Yesterday I had thousands of konversations with experts from a german android forum. noone could held me.
Every odin flash seemed to finish correctly with PASS. But after reboot, my device always has the same state, the same kernel version, all installed apps after my rooting were gone, messages, images... all were gone, except these I had on my device before the rooting I did.
If I install e.g. CWM Manager and select the action "boot into recovery mode", I only can see the Options "reboot now", "install update from sd", "wipe data" and "wipe partition".
All data saved by my device, doesn´t stay on it, after i rebooted it.
It looks like after every boot, my device loads a special recovery point, like system recovery on e.g. Win XP.
Anybody an idea?
Nobody here who can help me with this problem? ...
Hello Humphrey,
when you boot into recovery, you can see ' update.zip' , usually that is cwm. Rom manager installs update-zip before you can use rom manager. Install update.zip via rom manager just incase that update-zip is not cwm, unless you know it is. When you install update-zip, via recovery and it comes back as unable to verify zip, then you are not rooted.
The cwm will allow you to format the caches and system, delvik and battery and then allow you to install a complete rom with a rooted kernel. To be quite honest, Oden could brick your phone because you are using 2 hardwares, computer and phone. I have found it easier to download a zipped rom to your sd card and use cwm to flash it. Remember to format everything I said but not usb or sd. I have found Designgears Cognition 1.13 rom, not 1.15, to be ideal. I also use Zeam desktop, which I find ideal. Cognition is already rooted. Rom manager has glitches, so I don't use it to reboot into recovery or anything else but to look at roms, which I don't download via rommanger. Also, I'm fed-up with downloading stock roms and then having to find a rooted rom and using Odin.
I hope you find this useful.

1. Make sure your phone has kies 2 and have it install all the drivers.
2. Connected phone for the first time to computer and kies 2 and it recognized it fine.
3. Make sure Kies 2 is also fully updated.
4. The details of my phone are as follows: (please check what yours are)
Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100 (only use on i9100)
Fireware – 2.3.4 (it will work on all 2.3.x Firmware)
Kernel = XXKI4 (the important bit is the Ki4)
You can find all this info out in Settings – about phone
5. A prayer to My Lord for safe rooting
6. Go to this page and read all, then select the Kernel that is a match to yours – here – http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
7. Since I have Ki4, i had chosen to download this file [CF-Root-SGS2_XW_ODD_Ki4-v4.0-CWM4.zip]
8. Downloaded odin3-v1.85.zip here - http://www.mediafire.com/?wezzl287wb9v9hu
Extract and open the file (no installation...gasp!)
Open and run Odin ready to root your phone
Now select PDA and find the kernel that you downloaded and select
9. You might need to extract the kernel to select it in the PDA
10. Put your phone in download mode (press volume down + ok key + power on), a warning about custom OS flashes, press volume up key to continue.
11. You have pressed volume up key and the phone says that it has entered ODIN mode. it also says the following:
a. product name: GT-i9100
b. Custom Binary Download : No
c. current binary : Samsung Official
d. it also shows the android logo (the robot - big size) and says downloading...Do not turn off target !!
12. After this connected the phone to the computer (remember it is in download mode) and the drivers were installed again.
13. Go to Odin and you should see that under ID.com, there is a yellow background box and it says 0:[COM13]. in the message box (lower left corner) it says <ID:0/013> Added!!
14. Make sure the re-partition box is not checked in odin.
15. Clicked the start button...
16. The phone should install your new kernel and then re-boot it should show a yellow exclamation mark when it reboots.
17. That’s it your phone is now rooted –

Yes it will work on 2.3.6
Yes there already are A LOT of threads about rooting ... AND there are much easier way to get root than the one you explain!
This is especially handy if you'r new to this and just want root access to your stock SGSII:
[ROOT]How to ROOT Galaxy S2! [1-Click Root][Video Tutorial][No Odin required]
Seems pretty complicated with all those steps and there are easier methods i think.. but thanks anyway =]
I used the Easy rooting toolkit (v4.0) made by DooMLoRD. It works and as it is named really easy.
- install driver on PC
- download odin
- download rooted kernel
- open odin and select PDA and find the kernel
- put your phone in download mode
- start
But some of us don't like ODIN, or would prefer to do it in another way, or want to keep our existing ROM.
Like me for example... I'm quite happy with the regular SGS2 ROM, doubt that I have anything to gain with a custom ROM, and just want to be rooted...

Then use jig to get rid of triangle and reset flash counter to 0.
Might seem like a few steps but after you have done it once the next times will only take a minute or two.
Don't like Odin or don't want to use it? Well I bet at some time you do use it. Odin doesn't use an exploit, it's a flashing tool so you can be more confident that the flashed kernel will work to root your phone.
Once you have root don't forget to do a nandroid backup using CWM. Restoring a backup is the easiest way to downgrade from things like ICS.
Happy rooting and flashing....

does this also install CWM ? thanks.

Yes it comes with CWM and super user, providing you use one of chainfire's kernels.

Galaxy S3 i9300 Unbrick [restore to stock rom] [noobs][easy]

Hi guys! This is a noob-proof guide on how to flash stock samsung firmware on your i9300. Whether you have bricked it or just want the stock firmware back. Here's how to do it (detailed explaination)
WARNING! : This is only for the GT i9300 (international version) , Check your device before proceeding. Also you might lose all your data. So backup! i am not responsible if you brick your phone(although very unlikely) by not following the guide properly
Also you will lose your custom recovery, Custom ROM and will not longer have root
Ok lets begin!
1. Make sure you have the samsung drivers installed on your pc (http://bit.ly/SDaIIE)
2. Your device should have at least 80% battery left
3. Enable USB Debugging by going to Settings>Developer Options>Tick the Usb debugging tick box!
Files needed :
1. Android 4.1.2 I9300XXEMA1 for Galaxy S3 I9300 - http://bit.ly/10vkxdj
2. Odin 3.07 - http://bit.ly/16aRzF4
Extract The firmware Zip file until you get a file with a .tar extension and some other files. Do not extract furthur
Extract odin zip file till you get Odin3 v3.07.exe
Now here comes the actual flashing part
1. Power off your smartphone. Wait 5-6 seconds for vibration to confirm complete switch off.
2. Now, get into Download Mode by pressing and holding Volume Down, Home and Power button simultaneously until Samsung Galaxy logo appears in phone screen. Wait few seconds and your phone will be in download mode.
3.Open odin as administrator and connect your s3 to your computer with usb cable
4. You will get a message "Added" in the message box in odin and You should also see COM port with a number in Yellow if you successfully added your device.
if you don't get this , try another usb port.. if it still doesn't come , reinstall drivers.
5. Select these files from I9300XXEMA1 folder in Odin at respective buttons:
Click the PDA Button, and select the .tar.md5 file here with *code* appearing in its name
Click the Phone Button, and select file with *modem* in its name (leave if there is no such file)
Click the CSC Button, and select file with *csc* in its name (leave if there is no such file)
Click the PIT Button, and select the .pit file. Use only if you got it while extracting , otherwise ignore it.
6. make sure Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time checkboxes are selected. Also, make sure that Re-Partition checkbox is selected, only if you are using a .pit file
7. Double check everything above and hit start!
8. once flashing is complete the phone will reboot automatically and soon you will see a PASS message with green background in the left-most box at the very top of the Odin. You can then unplug the USB cable to disconnect your device from computer.
congratz , you have just restored your i9300!
If this has helped you make sure to hit the thanks button!
what have you developed?
We already know Odin, and this doesn't UNBRICK anything

This is so worthy of development thread. ...:banghead:

Helpful post to some,,,,,however the unbrick part is misleading as all this does is flash a stock ROM.
Only soft brick... like any other Samsung device.
Reported not development plus we have all this information already posted .
OP is splattering this post all over the forum .

[GUIDE] Recover Samsung Device from Bootloop or Back to Stock Rom

I wanna share my knowledge here
Learning from my experience using Samsung's devices, I found similarities in the way of reversing Samsung devices to stock rom.
So this guide should be practice for almost all Samsung devices
Ok, let's get started
First, download all these stuff
1. Samsung USB Driver or go to this Thread (install it)
2. Samsung Kies (install it)
3. Odin v.4xx or Odin v1-3 or go to this Thread (just open when need it)
4. And of course your stock rom
Download from here (choose the right stock rom and the newest depend on your model)
5. Extract the stock rom using winrar/7zip
-you should 3 files PDA_xx.tar.md5, Phone/Modem_xx.tar.md5 and CSC_xx.tar.md5 or more
-If you have just two files, .xxxx.tar.md5 & SS_DL.dll, i'll give it the guide too
Second, Go to download mode
- For device with Menu button : hold power button+menu button+volume down (vol -)
- For device without Menu button : hold power button+volume down (vol -)
For the 3 Files or more
- Go to download mode
- Plug your device to PC/Laptop
- Open Odin
- Choose PDA (browse it from your extracted stock rom)
- Choose phone/modem (browse it from your extracted stock rom)
- CSC (browse it from your extracted stock rom)
- If there's more files, just put it on the same box of the files names
- Check list auto reboot and f.reset time(look at the left)
- Click start and wait
- If success, should be writen "PASS" on left side
For 2 files only
- Go to download mode
- Plug your device to PC/Laptop
- Open Odin
- Just choose PDA and browse it the file(forget about SS_DL.dll or XX.dll file)
- Check list auto reboot and f.reset time(look at the left)
- Click start and wait
- If success, should be writen "PASS" on left side
If there's something miss or wrong, please tell me, I'll fix it this ASAP
And Let's helping people
Why USB drivers and then Kies as Kies installs usb drivers .
Plus we already have all this posted in the faqs and guides .
OP, thank you for putting together this guide. However, there are already a few floating around with the same information, so I will close this one to avoid having a bunch of duplicate threads.
