Changes:
- audio recording in video has definitely improved.
- recording video, we can now pause recording and then resume.
- homescreen > phone > menu > in-call equalizer now renamed to my call
- developer options > animator duration scale.
- settings > wifi > advanced > wifi timer
- delete many files in default file browser now shows windows with progress bar and remaining files to be deleted instead of just circle icon rotating in previous rom.
- haven't used browser that much so hope someone could confirm, menu > downloads and menu > settings > bandwidth management
- connects to wifi faster now.
- turning on bluetooth, shows you a window for available bluetooth devices. bluetooth confirmed working both send/receive.
- settings > battery > click on graph to show history details > now includes gps alongside mobile network signal, wifi, awake,screen on and charging.
- compose message using voice, no need for internet.

noticed when using voltage control:
- back then i only see 200mhz,400,800 and 1.4ghz always utilized. now i can see 400mhz,700 and 1.1ghz,1.2,1.3 being utilized as well. i haven't seen this happen in previous roms from long hours of use and gaming. oh btw, governor used is still pegasusq,i/o is cfq, min 200mhz max 1.4ghz
- pop-up player now resizable. clicking on it will now just pause the video and not return to full screen like it did.

minor bug:
- settings > date and time > when you uncheck 24 hour format the settings(gear) icon on notification bar moves to the right because A.M. or P.M. large font moves the icon to the right. They need to fix this, it's kinda annoying. for me only half of the gear is seen but still clickable. for many, they can't even see the gear because it's pushed to the right.
no such problem on landscape mode.

it's not in settings > language anymore. it's in s-voice's settings now.
it is more accurate now, like in music player when you say "previous" sometimes it understands as "pause" kinda like hearing only the "vious" that sounds like "pause". it wasn't accurate with "volume down" back then, only "volume up". now it can distinguish clearly.
BTW, you don't to enable s-voice to be able to use those voice commands. you just need to enable them in s-voice's settings.
wondering what Disable HW overlays is in settings > developer options? description is Always use GPU for screen compositing.

In touchwiz, folders are diferent and almost stock JB like, also on home
Men press menu there are more options now, like add apps and widgets. Also folders are possible in the dock!

When taking pictures you get a white border around it indicating that a photo was taken

Oh, thanks for the info. I like it.

Noticed better battery life even better than ICS
Edit: my normal average battery life on stock ics was about 5hours on screen time. On Jb its more like 6 and a half

Issues observed:
1.Contacts: I can see a contact with moobile number 999999999999 .. not able to delete
2. i can see a S Memo icon that the regular S Memo..when i click on that it says application not installed. when i click on S memo regular one i get a message sayin S Memo has reached end of lifecycle.
3.Music: all songs present in sd card appearing twice.
4.temp on device has reached 44 degree (Monitored using OS monitor application)

your issue #3, i can relate because i had that issue right after i installed jb.
i was so excited after it succesfully installed that i went to exploring it right away.
wiping data on cwm solved that issue and i guess will do the same for the rest of those issues.

Constant TouchWiz Popup when Home button is pressed

sorry, if this has been brought up, I searched, but didn't find any threads.
Anyways, I would say about 40-50% of the time when I press the Home button, I get this popup

Not a dumb question at all, Push and hold the home button, select the little globe in the bottom left, once you go thru to the next screen, scroll accross to CLEAR DEFAULTS and choose Touch Wiz and hit clear, exit out then try setting TW again and pressing Always.

okay, so I'm there, but I don't see TW to clear

When you press the home button the TW asks you to set Just once/ Always yes? -- if you choose always it should store it in there as a default. -
OK, try settings > general > application manager > choose ALL then scroll down to TW - choose TouchWiz Home - It should show 850KB or so in size, If not clear cache then clear data, hit force stop, reboot your phone and see if it stores the data this time.

Ok for some bizarre reason it isn't storing local data, I'm at a bit of a loss.
What Model number do you have? and what firmware are you running? - rooted also? any mods installed recently or other launchers?
when you went to cache, did it show 850kb or so in the app itself? as if it was storing the data at all?
You could try a factory reset. I know it isn't ideal and it bugs me when I have had to do one previously. It may fix it. 9 out of 10 times it does.
EDIT: I'm at work so my replies may be a little sporadic or so, but I'll be around to help.

the number says SM-N900W8, it's running 4.3, NOT rooted, bone stock, no mods... I just got the phone 2 days ago

I don't remember what the number was, but I'm pretty sure it was in the 700kb....

okay, so I ended up just doing a factory reset... and in the process... there was a system update. I have a feeling when I got the phone at the store, I was flying through the setup process and skipped it. As of right now, it looks like it's working fine :fingers-crossed:

okay... so I wanted to post an update. Truthfully, the issue started up AGAIN! I was sooooo annoyed, I didn't want to post because I figured it was frustrating others reading my issue. Apparently, I wasn't the only person having this issue. I did some search and came across a thread over at Android Central...

anyways, the trick is to uninstall the latest version of Google Search update. JUST TO CLARIFY, this does NOT mean you're actually uninstalling Google Search (because, I mean... there's no way I'd ever use Bing or Yahoo search :laugh: )
You go to your Google Play Store, search "Google Search" and the app will come up... it's already installed so you'll get the options of "Open" or "Uninstall".... You click on "Uninstall" and ONLY the latest version of Google Search will be uninstalled... Google Now, Google Search WILL still be there... But this issue will be gone
So, needless to say, the latest version of Google Search has some kind of bug with TouchWiz or whatever.
Hope this help others in the future

Yes im having this issue too and reverting back to the older version is the solution. This phone has given me many bugs. Totally aint worth the money.

I had this problem and then removed the updates. However, I now see a new update for Google Search dated January 9, 2014. Has anyone tried this update to see if the problem persists?
Maybe tonight I will give it a go.

No more touchwiz problem
:good: After upgrading Google Search to the January 9, 2014 yesterday, I have had no more problems with Touchwiz Home stopping notice. It has been about 24 hours since I updated it.
I guess Google resolved the bug.

I'm facing this issue after update to kitkat. I can't uninstall google search update as the version installed in the rom is the last one. Pop up is very boring What can I do ?

Thanks for the help on the pie controls! I really appreciate it, it's just something I never really used on the Nexus, nor used the LMT itself. But without a pure AOSP build, I feel it needs tweaked a bit to get back to a little more familiar grounds. (No Nexus 5 on Verizon .. grrr)
I think I was getting myself confused a bit thinking those tweaks could give me our 3 normal softkeys to replace my physical and capacitive ones. I know it was possible on the Note 2 from reading but it didn't seem to happen without a bit of troubles. Either way, I am rooted now and have removed some of the bloat apps. I am now considering going back into the custom realm on ROMS.

I replaced 1 pie button and the other defaults went missing, any way around that, I would like to replace them one at a time?
When blacklisting apps I have to scroll through ~400 app list to remove non ui sys services then select one at a time, is the list a file somewhere that can be edited by other means?

I'm not sure what you mean by 'default input device'. As you set up PIE you can customize the number of tiles (up to 5) and have up to 2 levels of tiles, for a total of 10 possible shortcuts. The first level is set by default to be Android navigation buttons (soft buttons), 'back', 'home', 'menu', 'search', 'multitasking'.

Honestly I don't blacklist any apps from from PIE
Can I ask why you want to Blacklist an application? Once I set the apps I want in my PIE I don't worry about the other apps I have installed on my device. I set those to be my most used apps, for the particular device om setting up. For instance, my Note 3 2nd level PIE app shortcuts are these
I have them set, and if I need to change them I just sift through the apps and replace them (I agree it does take some time to load, but once you have it set as you launch PIE it is seamless). I guess I don't understand why you want to Blacklist an application, when you only need to set the ones you want to have appear on the PIE launcher. Not that you need to validate your reasons to me, unfortunately I don't use this feature myself so I don't think I can be very helpful about this. Hopefully someone else might be able to lend some advice.

Oh, gotcha. Gesture input is a different set of features in LMT and not invloved with the the operation of PIE. This allows you to set actions that will launch when you complete a gesture.
Much like PIE once you select one of these options it will take you to the list where you can select the action to be completed.
You don't need to set any of this up in order to use PIE, The default for all gestures is 'None'.

LMT/PIE is really cool and I just wanted to drop in to let you guys know about an app that's very similar called Switchr
He recently implemented an "Arc" style that's just like PIE, and which one you choose to use is just preference IMO
Big difference is the "Live switching" just imagine using PIE but as you swipe over your overlay icons, the foreground app changes instantly vs PIE where you have to release your finger to trigger the switching

To clarify, By blacklisting an app in LMT/Pie you aren't saying don't show up in the choices of apps. You are telling pie controls to not work or appear when using certain apps. So if i didn't want it to appear in Internet so I can still use its pie controls, I could black list Internet.

Bloated settings app - Or maybe why the G3 lags? Plus some hidden settings!

I think I may have figured out a reason why the software from LG can cause the G3 to lag from time to time.
Take a look at all the features they left "on" in their bloated settings app. You can only get to a few of these features by using a launcher like Nova or Apex and creating a shortcut to it using the "activity" link.
Here's an example :
On Nova/Apex go to add shortcut > activities > settings > isai

What the hell is this? Isai motion? In the settings app it's checked "on". There's even an option to have a motion launch an app (similar to the camera on the Moto X, maybe?). I have no idea how to get this working, but the settings app has it checked.
Here's another :
Shortcut > activities > settings > Slide Aside
On the G2, slide aside was a weird memory hogging way of multitasking. I remember turning it off immediately on the G2 and getting improved performance. Guess what? It was checked "on" for me on the G3! But as far as I can tell, it's not even working.
Another :
Shortcut > activities > settings > Front Touch key light
Uh...pretty sure this was for the Optimus G and OG Pro - the G3 has on screen keys. Why is this even in the settings menu? Uncheck.
Final one :
Shortcut > activities > settings > Quickbutton
Nothing to check or uncheck here, but why is this in here? I think the Optimus G Pro had a quick button, why is this on the G3 settings app?
IN CONCLUSION :
My assumption is, just like with the G3 Home launcher and it's bloated hidden settings menu, LG has not actually "removed" features for different phones, they just take last year's software, no matter what phone, and add on top of it, then prevent the end user from adjusting those settings. How could they leave "slide aside" checked but not even give us an option in the settings menu to access it? Why would the settings menu even have a hidden option for quickbutton when the G3 has no quickbutton?
I would also assume, in some instances, it's easier and cheaper to program one set of software to install on multiple versions of the phone, that's why I can see there's MetroPCS and Verizon regulation info if you dig deep into the settings menu. But if a smart developer were to come along and strip all this crap out of the home launcher and the settings menu, my bet is you'd see a lot less lag because it'd probably take up less ram.
After turning some of the settings off my settings app is using 41mb of ram. We should compare to see who is using more or less and if it does in fact help with performance by turning some of these useless settings off.
EDIT : Here's some additional hidden menus. Maybe these options are present on some variations of the G3, but on the Tmobile G3 that I have they are not.

Strange... I think they are useless features but i hope they won't cause memory leaks...

Interesting. My settings shows 45MB total, but the com.android.settings app is using 36.
Do you know if using the stock AOSP settings app will turn off all those hidden settings?

Here's something else weird - if you dig around you find different versions of settings pages.
For example, my stock LED settings tab shows this :
But if you dig through the 6 or so LED shortcuts, you eventually find this :
This opens up a lot of questions for me. Why are there two separate LED settings menus? Why would they link to the menu with less options? If we dig more, will we find additional options that they limited from us to adjust the phone settings? I already also discovered the menu to make your own vibration pattern, and when you do, it will stick in the "normal" settings menu and let you use that custom vibration pattern. So why wasn't it included in the stock settings app?

So.. Did you turned those features off? If you did... Any improvement?

Not really. But I'm running ART with all the speed tweaks from the hidden dialer menu enabled plus I have no widgets or live wallpaper or anything. The G3 was already pretty quick for me before I discovered all this. I'd be curious to see the difference if the settings were turned off after a fresh install of the stock rom. The good thing about this is you could access these hidden menus without needing root.
What would really be great is if a dev managed to cook up a custom rom with all these hidden menus enabled in the stock settings app.

I'm just being greedy... Mine is blazing fast and no lags... But if I could free some more memory... Why not...

Switched a few of those bits off... Not noticed any difference yet but it's not worse!

Right. That's my feeling - it can only help. Plus if we all do more digging we might find actual useful hidden features. I know it's a small thing but I'm glad I was able to make my own vibration pattern.

Well, you could just install Nova simply for that and then delete it when you're done. That's what I did.
I don't know of another way to access the hidden settings - maybe a dev on a custom rom will figure out a way to add it to the settings app.

Anyone have a working .some Google Phone Dialer ?

I prefer the stock Google Phone dialer over all others. I tried to install several different .APK from the website with all the Google Phone downloads. But none of them would install or work.

I've been running Google Dialer with LG G6 for a couple of weeks... here's what I did...
1. Install the APK from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-google-dialer-t3557412
2. After installation, go into Settings, General, Phone Management, Apps.
3. Click the three dots menu and select Configure Apps.
4. Select Phone App, and change that over to the Phone with the blue background (the alternative is LG's Contacts) and click OK.
5. Click on the Special Access at the bottom of that screen. Select Modify System Settings and find the Phone app. Grant it rights to modify system settings.
6. I like to explicitly grant the phone app permissions now, rather than waiting for it later. So I granted all permissions up-front. Back out to the Apps screen and find the Phone app. Click permissions and flip the slider to the right to enable all permissions.
7. Launch the phone app and sign-in to your google account.
You may want to swap out the phone on the lock-screen and launcher as well...

I tried the same with google dialier, but it disappeared after being called once ! Will try again.

I have the APKMirror install of Google Dialer working just fine. Didn't run into the issue with dialer disappearing. However, I installed the Dialer from the XDA Forum that I referred to in a previous post.

I was able to swap out the phone by going to Settings, Display, Lock Screen, Shortcuts. From there tap on the phone icon (defaults to the far left) and an app list pops up. You need to select the "Phone" app with the blue icon - the green one is the LG-native phone app.

Thanks for the quick guide , it worked great. Finding it slightly sluggish for some reason though
The lock screen shortcut option only appears if you disable screen pin/fingerprint

I've always used Google Dialer v3.xxxx rc4 (forget the exact version but it's 3.something rc4), which is the latest version that is able to properly look up phone numbers of places by name on all my non-Nexus/Pixel devices

I just deleted them from the lock screen. Never use them anyway. Double press volume down opens the camera.

Same problem here software ver: V10k-AUS-XX Google Dialer & Contacts installed and working perfectly THX for the how to, Just cant get rid of that stinking green piece of turd on the lock screen no matter what I try. Hate little anoying probs like this LG @ times u suck!!!

Hey Gewecht what colour is your in call back ground? I have a LG G6 I get a quick flash of the nice Google blue then it turns a not so nice Turquoise green.
I tried the work around in the Google Dialer main post but no luck as the G6 has no option to change the sim back ground colour. I'm guessing the only way is to disable the stock phone app which the option is greyed out!!

You go to the Settings app, go to Display settings, tap on App Scaling, find the app (it would be in 16:7.9 aspect ration) and tap it, and thusly make it a forced 18:9 aspect ratio. After this, your application should be formatted to support the LG G6's 18:9 display. Trust me, I had to do this with Lawnchair Launcher and a Pixel 2 Launcher (mod) in order to get it to all fit. I hope this helps you ??.
