Downgrade CM9 to CM7 - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I followed these instructions to go from stock froyo to CM9:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1756234
If I wanted to install CM7 now, is it as simple as wiping/flashing ROM? Or do I need to flash a different kernel first? (Those instructions had me flash a froyo kernel so...)
TIA

1. You can`t. CM7 by tezet uses froyo kernel. When You flash with official GB there is no way back.
2 & 3: Don`t flash retail GB. Really. Don`t. This is one-way-operation. No downgrade is possible.
Tezet`s CM7 uses froyo kernel. To use it You just need to:
1. Follow these instuctions to install tezet`s CM7
2. Download and install Endless7`s mod for tezet`s rom.
If You like to try GB kernel: DON`T FLASH any retail GB. Use Endless7`s CM7 defy-based port.
REMEMBER: if Yoy don`t install sock GB You don`t need to flash any fixed-sbf after installing this port.
If You have questions, feel free to ask

Yes. Some says ChinaGB kernel solves multitouch issues, which are present in Froyo AND UK-GB kernel.
2nd way is to flash tezet's CM7 and then apply latest Endless7 patch (not ported rom, patch).
But remember: _avoid_ flashing stock GB rom, because it is one-way operation. If You really want to do this, we can exchange our phones
well, i've install CM7 on my gingerbread stock MS2 with endless mod and like a stupid i've flashing with the stock sbf GB and now i'm always in bootloop
i can only go on bootloader
what i can do??? =(
please help me =(

[Q] Defy+ doesn't boot CM7 nightly roms

Hello,
I have installed CM7 for Defy(not plus) in my cellphone perfectly.
So then, I found the CM7 Defy+ nightlys and I'm trying to install it. But when I install the ROM on it and reboot, it stays in the initial logo forever.
Could you help me?
Best regards.
please help
Try another rom, like MUIU or any other rom and see if the start loop is overcome.
Did you wipe the memory after?
If you want to instal defy+ nighties, you first have to flash the gingerbread kernel. (CM9kernel.zip)
So now flash the stock ROM and start again. You probably downgraded to instal three normal defy nightly do you have to flash a defy+ ROM with the same bl nr. After that root instal 2nt... and flash the defy+ nightly (and wipe). If you want to be able to switch, you will have to flash the downgrade sbf again and flash the CM9 kernel. Then you can switch with just flashing the kernel and ROM (sbf wipe)

Do cm7 nightly have these fixes? I'm running nightly now and camera seems ok, but I don't know yet about the battery.

[Q] back to cm7

Hi,
How I can downgrade cm7 from cm9? Normally wipe data&cache and then flash cm7? i haven't backup.
thank you
It depends on which version you're running, if you're using the gingerbread kernel with cm9 then you can't downgrade until you get the froyo kernel. anyway let's assume you have froyo running then a simple full wipe and choose the ROM you want and flash. if you have the gingerbread kernel just full wipe choose the ROM and flash it like before, but you have one more step find the zip with the froyo kernel and flash it right after the ROM.
If you can't be bothered with all the just use a full sbf and start clean from rsdlight.

How to back to GB?

I've the CriskeloROM ICS ZCLP6 and I'm afraid of brick my phone. So I want to go back to GB but I don't know if I'm with i9220 kernel or not or one safe way to go back to GB.
A good tutorial will be good to me and to the others. I know that anything is safe because we don't know the real cause of this, but...
EDIT: There's my phone info:
Model number: GT-N7000
Android Version: 4.0.3
Baseband version: N7000XXLP1

But this ROM is not based on a REPACK? You are saying that this ROM is safe?
leaked ics rom (REPACK) and official ics LPY rom both are dangerous

So I'm not understanding something. This is a leaked ics, so this is a repack that is dangerous and not recommended to use CWM. So if I flash that ZIP's from CWM don't I'm on the way to brick the phone?
Thanks for the help you are giving to me.
This very detailed video should help: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jr3DDEh8vyc&feature=plcp

you're wrong, CWM problem is for offical LPY ICS rom germany not for the Leaked rom ICS ZCLP6. You can still use CWM to flash kernel, but DON'T WIPE ANYTHING.
Both of this rom are dangerous, and my advise to you is to revert back to GB rom.
jBroid cleaner is new to me. Should i use it, even though i'm already reverted back to GB ROM and flashed speedmod kernel?
send from my sparkling white Galaxy Note, using XDA Premium.
Well, I understant now
Thank you all for the help! I will revert back to GB this night.

is not really necessary to flash kernel cleaner but many of us using it before flashing other kernel
Hi. I've done this and I'm on GB now. But now I have a new question. Because I flash the LP1 ROM, when I go to download mode, it says "Binary: Custom". I supose that was because I flash the I9220 Bootloader.
If I want to reset the flash counter with a Jig to sent the phone to warranty (if I need), probably I need to flash the "samsung oficial" bootloader.
Anyone can explay this better ou help me flashing the original bootloader and leave the phone in warranty again, please?
EDIT: If helps, I have a ROM that I copy from Kies when I upgrade the first time the note with a oficial ROM. If when I flash that, it will install the original bootloader, say the ODIN options and I will flash it.
THanks for any help.

Simple, Downgrade to a older GB using PC odinthe rom must be one of the 'root able' roms found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
Then once you have downgraded use this method to gain root and cwm http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360 (scroll to the bottom of the op)
Thanks man, But on another thread (CleaNote ROM) it says this:
Flash STOCK ICS with PC odin
boot the rom
reboot to dowload mode
flash CF kernel
reboot rom
copy CleaNote ROM zip to phone
reboot to CWM
install zip

Do i have to do that ^^ Or can i just root my current stock GB ROM + Add CWM, Then flash Abyss Kernel, Then flash the ROM of my choice ?
Its these conflicting posts what puzzle me lol.

If you are looking to flash a rom that has step by step instructions on how to install it then follow those, as some roms require different instructions.
But if you want to gain root and CWM and are not sure on what rom you want first what I have said is the easiest way to go
Well that was just what i read on one of the posts, In the OP it just says flash from CWM, Providing you have a safe kernel and root.
My current ROM is LC1 which is one of the unrootable ROMs, and my DLoad for ICS is almost complete !
I think i will just flash ICS then a safe kernel, Then the CleaNote ROM. Im just so scared about the brickbug lol. I will wipe before i update, As GB is safe right ?

GB is safe yes.

ICS flashed fine
Got root and CWM, Just installed Abyss kernel. Now doing a nandroid, Then Im gonna flash CleaNote,
Will avoid the wipe option even tho it says its safe in this kernel, Just not ready to take the risk yet.
Thanks for the advice, Been debating whether to take the plunge all day.
EDIT: spoke to soon, Now Im stuck on Splash screen, Dunno why, The nandroid was successful, But i cannot boot back into recovery now.
Looks like I'll have to flash the ICS again.
Abyss kernel is for gb not for ics. When cleanote said a safe kernel it is speedmod k3-3 or franco r3,r4,r5& r6. They use abyss kernel in wiping data in ics recovery just to be safe and the right step are 1. Flash the abyss kernel 4.2( after that do not wipe or flash your custom rom yet, very important to remember it will superbreak your phone), 2. Go to advanced and find reboot to recovery and click it and do the wiping their, its safe 3. and then you can flash the custom rom. In the case of cleanote theirs no need use abyss if you already flash speedmod or franco kernel in your ics before flashing the cleanote rom because cleanote 1.02 will automatically wipe your data.
Thanks man !! I'll get the hang of this one day
Im on rooted stock ICS now, With CF Kernel, So I just need to flash speedmod kernel( I loved their kernels & ROMs on the SGS1) reboot recovery, Then install CleaNote ?
I almost got it right lol
After flashing speedmod k3-3 click REBOOT SYSTEM NOW(get out of the recovery first) then check in the setting if you really have the speedmod kernel in your system running to be sure and enter recovery again and flash the cleanote rom, thats it.
