Hi,
Just curious as to if anyone knows of an application that would capture my entire screen and send it over DLNA to another device? (Of course this probably requires root)
I am looking for something that works similarly to HTC's Media Link, only is UPnP rather than something propriatery.

I was just wondering if anyone knows of a DLNA server for windows that runs in the background (pref as a service) - and requires NO interface on the computer ... until i play something to it... then have it open fullscreen on my machiene?
Just it annoys me that i have to have windows media player up and running for my device to see the computer. And when i open WMP i need to make the player fullscreen (and i cannot even do this w/o playing a file 1st).
Anyone know of software that would be suited?
Thanks
Kris
I think you might have your terminology a bit mixed up. It sounds like what you're after is a DLNA 'client' rather than a server.
The way I see it, the server is what serves the videos, i.e. the host of the files you want to play. The client is what plays them remotely.
Unfortunately I don't know of anything that will do it in the way you want - but maybe looking for a client might help your quest.
XbMC will probably do what you want it to HOWEVER! if you are wanting to stream to the DHD you might have to set up a server that transcodes the file on the fly to your required file type i think nero home will do this ....use google
Hello, I'm new to this forum, the Nexus 7 and android. I haven't got a Nexus 7 yet, because obviously one cannot mirror its screen up to now. This would be an important feature for me. The HTC Media Link seems to be the only way to connect it to a monitor so far. On the other hand screen shots are possible as far as I know.
Here is my question:
Has anyone tried to write a program which does the following: Make screen shots at a rate typical for videos, permanently build a video out of these screen shots and send this video via HTC Media Link to a monitor or TV?
I haven't got the knowledge to create such a program myself, but may be some users of this forum have the knowledge and may not yet have thought of such a way to perform mirroring the Nexus 7 screen.
Any answers appreciated! Thanks!
" First the app doesn't mirror your screen -- you're limited to playing content stored on the tablet or on the network via DLNA, which means no YouTube, Netflix or games. Second, the app doesn't handle some common file types -- like AVI, for example." -- source.
As far as I know there is no solution for mirroring that doesn't suck until we have a working Miracast support + dongle, and we're limited to things like DLNA.
Hi,
I'm trying to setup my Mojo as full-featured media center android solution. Unfortunately, i'm struggling with two things that I can't figure out how to solve:
1. HDMI audio bitstreaming - is it possible on stock rom? Or it is possible only on CM 12? Is this software or hardware limitation?
2. Screen refresh rate change/screenmode change - is it possible to set screenmode like 1080p24 or 1080p23 on MOJO? Is it ever possible on ANY android device? I was looking for any generic solution but it looks like that Android doesn't support refresh rate change at all. This suprised me very much as android solutions seem to be very popular as media center/home cinema solutions... without any option to change refreshrate or colour output profile (RGB full, RGB limited or others) it makes the device worse than smart tv itself.
Greets,
Tomek
It would be nice to be able to send video files from my laptop to the Shield via Google Cast. I have tried the Chrome extension of course, and it allows you to cast your whole screen but that's extremely quality-degrading for video. I want to cast actual files and nothing else.
I would have assumed there's no built-in compatibility between and Android device and a Window machine, yet when I right-click a video file in Windows Explorer there's an option to "Cast to Device" > "Android_b141". When I select Android_b141 I am asked for a WPS Pin but I've looked on the box and in the manual and there is nothing explicitly given as the WPS Pin. I've tried a few things like serial number etc but with no luck.
Does anyone know if it is possible to get this to work? I would really like to be able to just use this built-in functionality, if it exists. I have tried some third-party workarounds such as Chrome extensions which claim to be able to cast video files, but none work well if at all.
For comparison, on my Android tablet ES File Explorer allows casting of video files with no problem at all. This is the sort of functionality I am after on my laptop.
Thanks in advanced for any help or advice.

Thanks for the suggestion. But Plex is not ideal for me. I used to have a big media library indexed by XBMC (now Kodi) and I also know how smoothly Plex can stream across a network but I don't need a whole media library server-client setup atm, just the ability to cast occasional unorganised video files (not even always TV and movies, sometimes old home videos that are stored on my laptop for example, or something I just pulled off my action cam).
Immediately after making the OP I found an imperfect workaround. Strem.io for Windows allows you to drag and drop any video file and cast via just about any casting protocol. The program is a simplified (but certainly not light-weight) media centre though, so I could do with something lighter. It's made me think that perhaps there are video players out there for Windows which support casting. I'm surprised that VLC doesn't.
Can't you use a windows shared folder? Kodi can read any smb share with ease

I am trying to mirror my PhonixOS screen to another PC or Android using Screen Stream Mirroring app. This app allows to mirror the screen to VLC via a TCP link, it also allows to stream internal audio of the device but it requires root access and a plug-in.
I am not able to mirror my screen above 324p on PhonixOS os (not to mention even when I am using a 1920×1080 monitor and also the screen resolution set to that) but on other devices I can mirror at it's native resolution. I am not able to figure out how to fix it. Even the internal audio stuff is not working even after having the plug-in installed and giving root access.
I am using PhonixOS v3.0.8.529_x86_x64
Screen Stream Mirroring: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobzapp.screenstream.trial
I have also tried the paid version of the Screen Stream Mirroring app but the same thing.
If anybody have the solution then please help me.
Actually what I am trying to achieve is, I want to stream my PhonixOS screen with internal+microphone audio to OBS on another computer which is on the same WiFi or LAN network.
