So it's like the Asus Slider. Except it will be the Xperia Flipper?

If you want a gaming tablet, look at the wikipad. It's got physical controls and has a tegra 3 processor. If every Xperia play optimised app worked with the wikipad it would be great

I bet this new Sony Tablet will have OEM Dual Shock 3 support out of the box just like the current Tablet S does. So you still have real controls with a familiar gamepad. I guess the choice is yours if they implement that.

Why the hell you all are posting all these threads not related with the Xperia Play on this subforum???

I actually don't mind any of these threads. They are general information that Xperia PLAY users might want to read.

Anything with ICS has native gamepad support that also works with DS3. I use mine on my Acer Iconia with the USB cable, and no additional software.

Cool device but the controller part is detachable!
Wouldn't it be a smarter move to just connect a PS3 controller to your already existing tablet?
Cool idea but things gonna flop faster than the N-Gage

I don't think it will flop. The specs are good and it apparantly will be competitively priced with the nexus 7. If you want, you could keep the gamepad attatched so it's more covenient than carrying a ps3 controller.

I guess it ultimately comes down to the price. But having the detachable controller just kills it for me x(

Hmmm, looks snappy, but I think Imma wait for the Microsoft Surface.

The surface looks interesting but i think it may be too expensive. The pricing needs to be right, I'd wait a year or two to see how windows 8 tablets are going and how the app support is

[OFFTOPIC] Exynos 3D demo @1080p / 60fps

Its hardly breaking a sweat
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsungs_exynos_4210_gaming_side_shown_off_at_the_gdc_2011-news-2388.php
Just can say : WOWEEEEHHHH !
A generic looking Starfox demo? I am still skeptical about the grafix race on smartphones. It's getting caught in the same mire as the PC. Tech demos that don't mean anything beyond fps counters and nerd bragging rights. The games that people actually play, like Magicka and Minecraft, can work on ancient hardware, not to mention WoW. As long as it helps multimedia use, UI acceleration, and power consumption, it is still justified. But beyond that when the focus is purely 3D gaming and the battery life goes to hell and the phone turns into a hand toaster, hopefully they will reel it in and stay pragmatic.

They've upped the graphical features since Cataclysm. Water physics/splashes are now in the game, for example.

Nvidia Tegra Zone - Playstation

has anyone notice the new news update in the tegra zone on March 9? Playstation basically mention they'll be working on a new app called "Playstation Suite" to tegra 2 devices? i couldn't copy and paste the article from the app, but here is what it basically said:
http://www.phonearena.com/news/PlayStation-Suite-to-bring-the-PS-magic-to-your-Android-phone_id16261
wouldn't it be cool to play old classics from ps1. they also mention that they'll port over some ps2 games too. there're a couple of ps1 and ps2 games that i wouldn't mind paying $10-15. hopefully they'll be around or bellow the $4.99 sweet spot

ill be using FPSE until this comes out, but im excited about this
with this combined with emulators - I actually think that the android platforms has a comparable number of games to the apple app store.

This is great news! 9MM is fun too, however I wish there was keyboard+mouse or gamepad support. I don't get much enjoyment out of gaming on a touchscreen (with a few exceptions, such as pinball). Shadowgun is another one I've been looking forward to. It's looking quite slick!
9mm is quite fun on my 3vo but i tried on my tab and it was nearly impossible. really wish they would add controller support for it and dead space
This would be an awesome addition to the games on my Iconia Tab...

Vodafone Australia promises Nexus S Jelly Bean .....read on.....

So this has me thinking..... Nexus S is similerly specs to the Xperia PLAY and it will be getting Jelly Bean...man... For those curios unless games work great on ICS and or JB I will stick with GB as it offers, currently, the most compatibility. Still though.. if the Nexus S can get it the nwhy not the PLAY. Clearly $ony has moved on and has forgotten about our awesome little gaming phone.... guess its JB or waiting until later today to see what the supposed new ZTE Gaming phone is all about.... peace ya'll

Devs will make it happen though
Isn't it cause games wouldn't work as well otherwise?

Thats why i am still on GB and dont plan on moving to ICS. Most games are not opimized to work on ICS.
The ZTE smart phone doesn't even have a gamepad. Also only a tegra 2 processor. Bit dated. On the plus side, it is cheap though, only £189.99

i just really hope that jelly bean gets ported well to the play with project butter and stuff... + the gaming (at least emulators) works as good as with gingerbread... but i dont think its gonna happen :/
Due to project butter, jellybean seems like a major change from ICS, more so than gingerbread to ICS (not in terms of appearance)

Yeah! Looks like we will never get something that will replace our SE-XPLAYS!!!! Shame really thought we might be seeing some Tegra 3, GamePad love! But hey! Its not like we have ever had our hopes and dreams smashed before now is it!
Wasn't ever going to happen. Anyway, doesn't Sony have the patent for physical gamepad in a phone?
i heard that JB only needs 512 of ram. Does it mean that it will probably run better as ICS did?

Oh god, not this again.
The reason that the Xperia Play is not getting ICS is not because its hardware!!!!
READ THE FOLLOWING LINES PLEASE!
The reason because the Xperia Play won't get ICS goes like this:
1- Sony launches the Xperia Play.
2- Some months later, some developers like Rockstar Games and EA make some outsanding games compatible with the Xperia Play (GTAIII, Dead Space...) wich helps a lot on the sales of this smartphone.
3- Sony, wich plans to update the Xperia Play to ICS like the other Xperias from 2011, launches a beta of ICS for the Xperia Play in order to allow people to test how their apps and games run on the new version of Android.
4- The beta works great on the phone, but some games like GTA III and other important titles don't run well. These games need to be updated to work correctly on the ICS for the Xperia Play.
5- Rockstar, EA and others refuse to update their games for the Xperia Play.
6- Sony, with no option, doesn't want to lose the most important titles of the Xperia Play and decides to not update the device.
END.

Question related to games

I wanted to ask that y does our nexus 4 not have most nice games?
I saw brothers in arms 2, was not supported
Asphalt 6, not supported
Saw many more games (mostly 3d) and none were supported
Common games like asphalt 7/8 and gta were supported
Moreover, game developers have started tegra exclusive games that really makes me feel bad
Google advertised this phone as built for gaming, and we all know that our phone can easily handle tegra3 , then why can't we play those games?
Since this phone is a Google phone, I demand gaming support, at least for nexus devices
Can anyone tell me one some reasons good enough about this all??
Are there any adreno specific games??
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Well basically it's up to the game developers, which devices they say are compatible.
If they say it's not compatible with our nexus 4 then we don't get the choice to install it. simple as that. Google doesn't get a say in that matter.
Don't go throwing demands about because it just makes you look like a spoilt kid.
There are many different variants of system on chip designs used in the various phones and tablets that android runs on.
Now it's impossible to expect developers to release an optimized version of every game they release, to cater to every different variant of soc out there.
Nvidia been a big name in the graphics industry setup and made agreements with developers to make optimized versions of their games with better effects (known as THD).
Now if you want somewhere to complain. I suggest you either go straight to the developers ask why they aren't supporting this device. Our go to Qualcomm and ask why they aren't pushing for optimized games on their platform.
Complaining here will result in nothing but people flaming you.

It's the games' developers' the game that make those calls, not Google, and definitely not you.
Anyway, good luck with your, ehm... demanding.

Kainy doesn't emulate anything, it's a remote desktop solution that's optimized for gaming. You connect to your computer and control it remotely while it runs the game.
