Non rooted flash and bbc iPlayer - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I don't want to root my Nexus 7 yet and I only need flash for BBC iPlayer, I have done this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1774336 and it does work but crashes when I try to view the program in full screen mode.
So, I tried the latest Firefox which supports flash too but the iPlayer site says the device is not supported.
Is there anything I can try that doesn't involve rooting and then doing this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1780746 ?
Is there a way to get the iPlayer site to play with Firefox for example?

In Firefox choose request desktop site from the menu and it will then show as supported.

Thanks but, I don't see the option?
I did find an add on called "phony" that works with some fiddling about.

Iplayer flash desktop version how ?

Just got a new arc previously been using a desire hd.
How do I view the desktop version of iplayer, everytime I select iplayer it goes to mobile version. I have flash installed

You'll need to goto the BBC website using a browser.. what you're seeing the the App version not the mobile version.. different.
Try downloading flash 10.2 from the market.
that comes preinstalled doesn't it?!
When i checked, I had to update through the market although it didnt let me know there was an update available.
The browser you're using identifies the phone as being a mobile device.
I believe some of the alternative browsers allow you to change a setting so that the phone appears to be a proper computer.
Anyway, isn't there a link at the bottom of the page to take you to the full/desktop version of the site?
The link at the bottom goes to to the desktop version of bbc but I cannot see a link for desktop version on the iplayer website . Iplayer website always goes to mobile version. I have the flash update installed.
Can someone try the iplayer desktop site and let me know .
Thanks

Help with videos that requires flash. Any apps?

Hello guys, does anyone knows a app that can play flash required to videos? Like any external player from the app store? And no this isn't for Porn. I'm using a nexus 7 jelly bean. Thanks.

You can sideload a flash APK, and just install Firefox.
Works perfectly fine
Dolphin HD also includes Flash
Here's what I did. Works great.

The older version does. The newer updated one no longer supports it. The developers actively removed the functionality.
Yeah I'm using dolphin browser now but no flash is supported. You guys know any apps from the market that does the job that I missed?

the android browser(not chrome) thats also found in aosp works great on the nexus 7, and plays well with flash. it might even be the fastest jelly bean browser.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1780746
Puffin browser works great for flash videos even in full screen.
Flash again
I sideloaded flash from an apk file and also Firefox (beta). No joy I'm afraid. Would someone have a step by step guide to solving the Flash Player problem to include software and/or version numbers. Thank you, Dave

Will Nexus 7 work with iPlayer?

Since flash won't be used anymore, will I be able to get iPlayer to work?
Will I have to side load the flash player apk to use iPlayer?

Yes, you will need Flash to make iPlayer work. Somebody posted a guide in these forums - search and ye shall find.

Got a TF300T...No flash... Help?

Hi just got this tablet, and it seems Adobe won't support Flash with Jellybean, and as soon as I got the tablet I officially updated it to 4.1.1. So anyone know how to get Flash onto this tablet? I don't wanna root the tab and I already have Dolphin Browser HD. I need flash to watch TV shows and run games. Thanks

Probably the only way since everything is HTML5 these days.. well according to google and adobe that is >.> so chrome and dolphin browser doesn't support flash. My dolphin used to, but dunnno why it doesn't now. But the stock browser is the only one I can use, but it's crapily slow
You could also use a custom ROM that supports flash....for instance, I'm using the BAKED Blackbean ROM, which is based on Android 4.1.1 (Jellybean). I play flash videos in the native youtube app without any problems whatsoever. That way, you still get the "benefits" of Jellybean (which I don't feel are enough reason to update from ICS) and you can watch flash videos. You can have your beans, and eat them too!!
Depending on how technically-inclined you are, you could also downgrade your firmware to the previous update before Jellybean (would be 9.3.4.30, or something similar). This does involve unlocking your bootloader using ASUS' official tool, and therefore voiding your ASUS warranty.

Maybe Flash is disabled in Dolphin browser. Open Dolphin, go to Settings > Web Content > Flash Player and try enabling it. A message pops up saying that it could cause Dolphin to crash etc. Enable it if the message doesn't scare you and hopefully it'll work :victory:
yes install flash player apk, upgrade in the market, in your downloads (everyone) will apear the update (if the flasplayer.apk is old) you can use stock browser or firefox. chrome and dolphin doesnt work.
but the flash player will dont work fast... only whit some things
At this time you can not downgrade from the JB bootloader even if unlocked!
+1 flash working on JB.

Flash player WORKS on Android 5.0 Lollipop!!!

As shocking it might sound it is true, i have accidently discovered it yesterday. It is a bit wonky, i had few issues playing some videos on full screen but generally it works just as on 4.0+.
You dont need hacked flash player.
1. Download and install latest Firefox: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.mozilla.firefox&hl=en
2. Download latest official Flash Player .apk and install it: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/...roid/11.1.115.81/install_flash_player_ics.apk
3. Go to Firefox Settings/Customize/Display/Plugins and choose enabled.
4. Start Flash Player and choose Firefox as default browser
4. Enjoy Flash content on Android 5.0
You need Firefox, it didn't worked for me on Chrome and Dolphin. :good:

Work, thanks
Why would Google enable Flash (indirectly/directly) when it is discontinued and html5 is in place?

The question is: why google should block it? It's a normal program like others..
If you want it you install it, otherwise peace.
Besides, some content providers just use flash for videos.. regardless of the existence of html5
One possible reason could be stoppage of support for security updates in Android devices from Adobe.
Agreed flash just another app but popular apps are always targeted.

Hackers can use flash to initiate attacks on your device. Nuff said.
