Looking for a new rom..... - Acer Iconia A500

Does anyone know of a rom that has the ability of pen testing wifi? Or if not, a good or rom that offers good performance and that would be able to loop backtrack?

you can run backtrack 5 natively or chroot it but even if you do the pentesting abilities such as aircrack-ng wont work theres an app for dosing in the marketplace to test wifi strength ;( I've tried workarounds but hadn't fount one
any rooted rom pretty much will allow you to run Ubuntu or backtrack 5 natively but you have to sacrifice your recovery as for now I'm currently running the latest Ubuntu natively and its not bad not a PC experience but not bad at all

The problem I am running into is that when I try to run the bootbt file in the terminal it tells me what you see in the picture
I have been trying to find a way to get through this part... I have busybox installed like it says, but I don't see the bash file

Got any specific names for roms? I want to look into some. I think I need a different boot loader though.... let the fun begin.

[Q] Multi boot option for gt540

Hi guys from few days i heard about multi boot option for x10 , is this possible with our handset also ...if yes please any tell me ....thanks in advance...
In theory, yes. For example, you can flash a boot.img file to the recovery partition (Recovery images are basically boot.imgs but with modified ramdisks) then it would boot, but you would need to re-partition the device, or use the SDCard as means of dual booting (Like some early Android ROMs were for the HD2)

Not yet, also the lack of developers is a problem too, we really only have about 5-10 main devs here on XDA, probs more though on com.pl and 4pda.
I Hope developers work in this direction ...

Has anybody here tested Boot Manager 1.1? I read a thread about it here but no confimation yet if it works for our phones.

ROM manager now recognizes transformer.

Noticed it with the newest update. It still says no official support, but it will ask if you have recovery 3.x.x or 2.x.x installed. Maybe next update we'll get a lil' more love!
Yeah it reconized the tablet as a TF101 and ask to confirm it.

it means koush officially supports the device for recoveries. And now we won't have n3wbs asking "how do i flash a recovery image". But since the recovery image requires an SDcard we'll see "why isn't the recovery sticking".
It almost means that we'll start seeing, and having the options to download ROMs directly via the ROM manager.
Has any one flashed recovery from new (updated) ROM manager
I'm still on Team Rogue's CWR and refuse to leave it. It's CWR 5, CWM seems to only allow you to have version 2 or 3 at the time it seems.
This isn't TF101 specific. Changelog just states that support has been added for any generic device that has unofficial recoveries

It identifies it as a TF101.
The application is probably configured to simplely grab that information from the device and print it as the output when you select the install clockworkmod recovery.

I know, it just uses the build.prop. Any unsupported device has this now too.

Rezound is unsupported, and it recognizes it, ADR6425, so it's definitely just a build.prop thing.
Unrelated, but does anyone know if the cyanogenmod team has one of these?

It would be nice, but as stated. Someone from the devteam would need one to test on.
It does seem odd that it would allow you to flash recovery, when it wasn't supported.

It doesn't let you flash anything, it just lets you tell it that you are running an unofficial CWM recovery

I was just over on the CM site and be does say in a post that support for the Transformer is planned. That makes me happy in the pants, Revolver is pretty sweet but I loves me some Cyanogen.

Ah, you're right.
On a side note. ASUS did a pretty good job of not over bloating the TF101. A rooted ICS would be fine with me. But CWM is awesome to fix permissions, reboot to recover, etc. It'd be nice to have.
Sorry if I got anybody's hopes up.

I just want to root

Hey guys I want to root(only root) my tf300
I've been reading all day that u need to unlock bootloader and some that u don't have to unlock.
Does anyone know the best and easy way to only root tf300
I read something about debugfs but haven't tried it.
If u guys have a link for the root I'll appreciate it.

Yes. You need to have a PC. It is to be done in recovery mode IIRC.
Good luck with the rooting.

Sadly a PC is required with this method, but after reading all the root threads on here, I decided it was the easiest method and worked a treat for many
Just don't make the same error I did... don't connect the tablet to the dock and then USB on the dock to the PC, use the use charging cable supplied with the charger and connect the tablet to the PC via it, otherwise Windows wont see it...
Make sure you have the drivers installed too!
OK but how exactly u do this...I already downloaded the zip file on PC and pluged tablet...it installed drivers but last one ...says waiting for input and I got some options saying 1.locate and install driver
2.ask me again later 3. Don't show this message again
I click #1
Now what?

Best to read the full thread I linked to, but make sure you have USB debugging enabled on the tf300 under developer options in settings...
From what I remember, I just unzipped the downloaded file to a folder, opened the folder and ran the .bat and it did the rest.
To get the correct drivers installed, I just installed Asus sync from the Asus support site, but make sure it is not running when you run the .bat.
I had the same issue, I think I installed the Android Development Kit and rebooted a couple times and it just decided to work after that. Soo, hope that helps?

Just did it, with the newest version from his skydrive account.
The only thing, I had to change USB mode from drive to camera-something in order for the ADB to detect the device..
My only reason to do it, was to get:

and I must say it's like a totally new device... Finally I can use the browser on "heavy" sites without ANR's..

Long story short, it makes the stock browser a lot faster, by using ram as cache instead of the disk.

Root user?

I have this app called "connectbot" that installed for SSH and telnet. Well I found that it has another option to use the local command prompt. A lot of the commands work. Even netstat, but when I try to go down to root level it says access denied! I figure its because I am not root admin, so I my questions are;
Is there a built in command line prompt built into the note 10.1 and all other droid devices? If there is how do I access it?
Also with the current command prompt I have access to or the installed cmd that I dont know how to get access too, is there a way I can become root admin so I can rename folders or change directories so maybe I can install apps to my sd micro card or use the ps3 controller using sixaxis with out flashing the rom on here or installing anything, but just maybe make a script or yse commands to become admin?
Thanks for all your help in advance
Thanks,
Note 10.1 user

The reason I liked the ExynosAbuse way is that it's so clean and simple. No flashing things or installing CWM. I know it's a very special case (and not even the main reason for the app), but still...
I found the new bootloaders on the latest JB release give you a custom status and raise the flash counter to 1 if you have used the exynos exploit to gain root.
Not good if you have an allshare cast dongle as it needs "official" status to work...
Gaining root through CWM, using triangleaway and then reflashing stock recovery left me with with no raised flash counter and an "official" status.... Even after using Mobile ODIN to upgrade to the latest German or Arab Emirates JB.

Anybody able to run Scrabble on their N4 ?

Yeah I've found a few different .apk of scrabble online , and was even able to install them , but the results were not too pleasant.

Just wondering if it even runs on stock ROM without root
