I've noticed a number of times that my finger is very close to the screen but not touching it but it activates what's under my finger. Has anyone else experienced this or is it just my imagination that this is happening?

I'm having some weird issues with my touch screen. I'm using the Touch Keyboard input method so I can use my thumbs for typing instead of using the stylus all the time.
Very frequently, when i use my thumbs to push buttons near the bottom middle or bottom left of the screen, the start menu auto pops up! It is absolutely driving me mad! I tried to recalibrate the screen, doesn't help. I tried to take off the screen protector and try again, no difference.
Has anyone else has this happen?
Hi,
Yes, it's a common Problem with the Trintiy.
But be happy, that you don't have these Problems.
I have heard, that there are Problems, when the device heats up and the casing pushes on the top-left corner. But with my Trin it only occurs, when I'm tiping something and push a little bit to hard in the middle of the screen. But it doesn't disturb me too badly, as long as it won't get worse.
Greetz
So it's more of a design issue than anything else? Damnit! I was hoping there'd be some sort of fix or that it was just my phone that was defective somehow.
Sigh, I've never noticed this problem until I started using the soft part of my fingers to type.
Anyways, thanks for your reply.
Does anyone have a really sensitive touchscreen?
Sometimes if even a droplet of water falls on or a smear/fingerprint smudge gets on mine, the flipside acts as if it is still being held at that point for me..
Sometimes it's caused hangups in a call, or zooms in indefinitely on some webpage, gets annoying sometimes.
Anyone experienced this or have a fix? I have a hard case, but that's not really helping.
just a thought
I noticed my screen is also very touch sensitive. I prefer it that way verse other android phones I've owned. Maybe a screen protector will give you the effect you are looking for.
Screen protector did the trick for me.
Updated to 4.2. Screen randomly freaks out and doesn't respond to touch. Anyone have this issue? Any known fixes?
EDIT: SOLVED. The glass was popped up on the left side, causing a contact point to constantly register on the right side. I have to hold my thumb down hard on the side to get it to stop. Going to try and call Asus
Sometimes the phone doesn't register some of my taps. I never had a phone with a screen this big so I'm not sure if it's because I do a "mini scroll" instead of an actual tap by trying to reach whatever I'm trying to tap. They are far and few between but they're noticeable and it's annoying. Does anyone else have this happen?
Sorry if this was discussed somewhere else, but I couldn't find it.
May be someone could confirm this:
When scrolling frequently one time after another moving your finger repeatedly up or down quickly for vertical scrolling in a long page in chrome for instance, it's very buggy for me.
It has some sort of delay. The screen doesn't react many times.
If the movements are slow and not so frequent, its almost OK. But if you do it quickly it is very bad.
I keep thinking if it is the original Samsung screen protector, I had pre-installed.
It's like that in all apps, I think (Samsung internet, PlayStore, chrome, Samsung store, etc).
Has anybody noticed the same and did removing the screen protector solve this? Or is it something else that anyone found?
Edit: By the way touch sensitivity under settings, screen is enabled.
So try turning off screen sensitivity, are you sure your palm isn't touching the sides also while scrolling?
