Nexus 7 buttons different on two nexus 7s - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have two nexus 7s and the buttons are different in that on the 8gb they are much more flush, while the 16gb has buttons that stick out much further. What do your tablet buttons look like?

My 16gb looks like the one on the left, buttons don't really stick out much.

Can you post a bigger picture please? I can't see the difference from the tiny picture

My buttons were more flush but once I took back off and put the cover back on my buttons stuck out more

Mine are the opposite. My 8GB has buttons that stick out, whereas my 16GB has buttons that are flush. This makes it much harder to push them when I have it in its case. I opened them up and looked at the buttons on the inside, and the 16GB ones definitely have shorter "stalks" on them, allowing them to recess into the body more.

My 16gb seem to be more flush.

Modded Rhinoskin case

I bought a rhinoskin a while ago, but just didnt like the size of the thumb opening. Also, the small slit over the screen didnt allow you to see the all the important info.
This is what it was like.

However, like I said, didn't like the buttons. So I brought out my trusty dremmel and started making a mess.
Once a little wet sanding was conducted afterward, I decided I needed to dry it off, quick. So what better than to put it in the oven. However, I forgot it was in there. By the time I got it out, the neoprene foam was sitting on the bottom of the oven.
No real problem, it was still sticky, so I got some foam at a hobby store, and cut it to size, making just enough space for my WIFI card. Then only a little paint and clear coat, and you get what you see below.

Would you consider this as a reason to return it?
Br D
I'd return it for the simple fact that it would drive me crazy.
me too, if they give you any gripe over it just say its they're duty to provide you with a fully fledged nexus just like everyone else.
Sixth?!? Wow. You should return it and hope seven's your lucky number. My N7's fine but I'm getting one for my step-son and I'll be sure to go over it carefully.
Partly Off-topic
I've got about the same size of glass missing, when I dropped it + some cosmetic damage on silver bazel. Will I be able to return my nexus 7 for replacement as I got over 20 dead pixels?

Cracked screen and a bad replacement

So I ordered a replacement screen finally, as i have been with a cracked screen for awhile now. New screen came in and i begin to disassemble my phone, and remove the old screen no problem. I get to install the new one, and fit it in, its a little tight and I put a slight amount of pressure and the new one cracks in the corner. I was pretty pissed. So I then noticed that there is no gap at all between the digitizer and the hole for the optical joystick.
It was a screen from Chuanbo Zhang on amazon, which has plenty of reviews.

Did i just get a badly made screen? or is this normal for most screens or is there some version of the Droid Inc that has no gap between those parts?
Should I still try and repair this phone after ive had it for so long? Or is it time to retire and go for something new.

Question regarding screen

I have just noticed on my Note 4 that there seems to be a very thin black line going around the 4 edges of the screen, almost appearing like a very thin frame that the home screen sits in. Is this normal? I have never owned a Samsung phone before so not sure...
Thanks for any responses.
Is it a white model? The white model will show the black frame more obvious. It's normal.

Yep it's the white one. Thanks for the reply. Took 2 weeks for me to notice it, and now I can't stop noticing it lol.

Frost questions..

How's the feel of the frost? Is it identical to the aluminium?
What about scratches? Does the coating flake off and reveal silver color, similar to the graphite?
Also, will the frost's sides bend as easily as the aluminium?
As my graphite is already mysteriously flaking and revealing silver, I'm returning my 32gb graphite today and gonna repurchase a 64gb aluminium or frost..
I just don't wanna have the same problem with frost =/
Anybody care to share their frost experience?
You can see the tiny silver spot that has appeared on the bottom right corner.. This mysteriously happened as I haven't even dropped the phone.. I saw a user on Reddit already have a few of these around the camera bump =/.. I'm returning it while I can and changing colors (and sizes)..
Shame tho because I much prefer the graphite color..
