Clean, then fog up your screen. The bottom where you slide to unlock doesn't fog?

The bottom of my screen has a slightly different feel, even though it doesn't show it. I remember someone saying once that they cleaned their screen with rubbing alcohol, and thought that they'd removed a protective coating. When i fog up the screen my simply blowing hot air on it after whipping it clean, you can see that that part of the screen won't fog. Have I removed that coating? Does this happen for everyone?

I dont think he is, I'm trying this too and it doesn't fog up either only the top half does... but this could also be because the chips that get hotter are towards the bottom ie: antenna for wifi, bluetooth, radio etc.

Not for me, hmm.

It's most likely due to the oils left behind on the screen from your finger. Even after cleaning it, there is probably enough left on the screen to cause the effect you see.

Poor construction of left/right sides of the screen?

Hi there!
Is anyone here having problem with the left and right side of the screen? When I slide my finger on the screen to the outside of the phone then I feel under my fingertip that the screen is a little bit under the body and with my fingertip I hook up some plastic part which seems to be between screen and aluminum body.
I hope I explained the problem
Anyone with the same issue? Is this a hardware issue or just stupidity of the HTC engineers?

Have you thought that this may have been done by design?
For those that put their phone screen down the screen is slightly raised off the surface thus not getting scratched......

mine is the same... i believe it's the design so you don't scratch the screen when it is face down

I prefer not putting the phone down the screen rather then having this unconformable feeling when I move finger on the screen...

Solution: Get like 3 or 4 screen protectors and lay them all on top of the screen at once. The thickness should bring them in line with the plastic rim and your fingers will no longer have to suffer the horrific feeling of a 0.2mm plastic ridge

My physical glass/plastic screen seems to be stuck further down on the top left and bottom right corners making it slant upwards to the other corners. I push the top right down and it seems to feel loose.
Is this what your issue is? because this is whats happening with mine.

but that means the lip is like 5 microns or something, the thickness of the screen protector

small gap on screen

have you guys notice small gap between the glass and the silver plastic rim around it,visible only on bright environment..

i've noticed this on the first day. My friend said he read something about this on other phones to. I'm guessing its because of it being glass. It is design to protect the screen so when you get a bump on side it will not break the gorilla glass. I think

Might be true, maybe its for design purposes, in mine its only noticeable on the top area, but when using the phone normally you will not notice it because of its black color..

It's generally used as a seal to keep dust from entering the phone.

Yeah i just noticed it on mine. Wonder if we should be worried about the screen popping out of the frame or something. The gap is more prominent on the right side of the screen when looking at it. Top and bottom has no gaps. Hmmm...

Mine looks like it has an equal amount of gab and some dust that settled in.

its made like that. like what someone said above, its to protect the edges of the glass from shattering.
The glass on mine is a bit off centre, cant see it unless looking right at it in light.

I had the same glitches. Down and on the left side of the screen. Got the screen replaced by Samsung. The frame and the screen is stuck together from the factory. Now it sits really tight.

So is it a factory defect then? Unit seems to be working flawlessly though and no screen glitches

I noticed a tiny little gap on the bottom most part of my screen and the frame. It's not very visible, but it seems to be collecting a little bit of dust.
I never noticed it before reading this thread.

[Q] OMG what is this a rub mark on my screen?

I woke up today to find this rub mark on my galaxy tab 7.7, it stretches from one side of the glass to almost the other! When i rub it with a cloth it goes away, but then it comes back in about 30mins. Does anyone know how to get rid of this or do I have to return my product. Its not the screen as the picture will indicate the mark covers the top right side of the bezel.

I do not know if I am helping but is there a screen protector on your tab? If there is, it might be your screen protector's problem. Hopefully this helps.

No screen protector

Picture isn't very clear or big.
Samsung tablets have been prone to "oil slick" problems, which are a manufacturer's defect.

[update] again, let me reiterate: when i wipe down the marks they go away, but in time they return

Seems to be an issue with the glass (or better the manufacturing) as it also goes under the bezel. I would return it for guarantee.

try cleaning it with a mild soapy water if not have it replaced.

Yea it looks like the glass is detaching from the panel only in that area. Either the adhesive there isn't enough to hold it down or there could be a curvature in that area causing it to lift up. When you press it down the adhesive takes for a bit but eventually detaches again. Either way that's a manufacturing defect so you should definitely return it. It could eventually spread to the rest of the screen in time as it weakens the adhesive around the affected area.

yes you are right, I woke up this morning and what did I find but more lines, I called expansys.co.kr and they initially told me I would have to pay a fee for the lcd to be fixed, but since I told the rep its more a problem with the glass the rep told me she would get back to me later today about this issue.

If you look at a breakdown of the Tab 7.7 the battery is located on thats side. I had a problem once with my iphone that when it heated up the screen protector strated to warp with the heat. On cooldown and a wipe it would appear better.
This looks very similar to what I experienced it may be worth trying a different brand incase the glue used reacts more than normal to heat.
Also the treatment used on the screen is designed to resist fingerprints so it may also prevent the glue from adhering.
I use screen cleaner on my screen before fitting screen protectors. It may help.

LCD Ripple Effect

I've notice that my screen ripples alot on the left side of the screen. It doesn't really take that much force to cause it. Is this a defect in the product or just a case of thin glass? The screen touch sensitivity works just fine just has ripple effect when pressing on the screen lightly.

My N7 does this a little when there's slight pressure on the center left side of the screen. It happens in the same place that I get minor screen lifting and creaking. Maybe it has something to do with the glass being pressed too close to the screen. I've had a number of iPod Touch 4th generation devices that have the effect you're describing so it isn't just limited to this first batch of N7.
I think if you're having to press it deliberately to see it and it doesn't show in normal use, it might not be an issue, as it isn't for me. But then again I have several other issues with my N7 that bother me a lot more.
If you do see it regularly in normal use, I think it would be reasonable to get a replacement.

Usually this is a consequence of screen lifting. Many units are having adhesive failures on the left side of the display, causing it to lift up.
To check for screen lifting, hold the device at eye level with the right portrait side closest to you. Look across the display and hold it so the left bezel is visible as a thin, silver line. If the display is flush, it will not interrupt that line. If the black cuts into the silver, you know that the adhesive on the left side of your display is starting to fail.
But for what you're experiencing to happen, such a subtle test is usually unnecessary. Just look at that edge and see if it moves when you press it. It may feel spongey or make a creaking noise.
This defect does qualify you for an exchange. If your screen distorts under pressure that's not good for it, and all that bending will shorten the lifespan of your device. Also, if there is separation it may progress and become noticeable during normal use.

Gotcha. Yeah, it's one of those things that once you notice it's hard to ignore. Just as it is with all the other N7 issues and electronic devices in general.
Does it do it just on the edge of the left area of the screen or closer to the middle?

I don't see any sort of screen separation, screen looks as flush as it should be. Plus I have no creaking noise and/or spongey effect. :\

I agree once I found it it now bugs me lol. It happens not really towards the middle just maybe a centimeter above the status bar at the bottom.
