[Q] Can I use the Nexus 7 as Wlan USB stick?

Hi,
I'd like to use my Nexus 7 as a Wlan Stick for my Desktop PC. Is this possible?
I am running the CM night lies.
Thanks a lot.
Probably but can't you just plug in a wifi adapter to your Desktop instead?

Is it a bug that can be patched
I haven't come across a patch, but I think it might be fixable. Hopefully 4.2.2 will fix it... And all the other USB OTG bugs

Already installed drivers for the N4? Using correct data cable?
Even tried wireless solutions as air droid?
But before you do all these things, is your N4 visible in your pc- explorer?
For further questions just contact me. I'm willing to support you.
Try rebooting. That's what fixed it for me lol. You could also try changing USB Storage mode to PTP or MTP from whatever it's on now.

Had the same problem. I was able to connect it as a camera, but not in mtp mode. I moved all my files into the dcim folder under then used root explorer to get them out of there.

+1 for AirDroid. So simple and reliable that even my 70 year old father uses it.

I use FolderSync. I have it scheduled to automatically back up anything I care about every night at 2am. It just happens and I don't even have to think about it. AirDroid also works fine.

That sounds awesome! but I guess you have to leave your computer ON all night, ain't that right?
I just use ES File Explorer and just transfer them to my Windows shared folder on my network. I rarely use USB cables to transfer files at home unless they're massive.

I connect mine all the time to my windows 7 PC. You have to remember that it connects as an MTP device so it doesn't get assigned a drive letter but it should show up as a device that you can explore.
I use Windows 8 and I use the USB to transfere files between the SD Card and the Laptop.
Connect your phone up to pc while booted into android. Now check your PC's device manager for a failed mtp entry.
If you find one I'll tell you how to fix it.

[Q] What drivers do I install? Don't want to upset my Nexus 10 drivers.

My Nexus 10 is already recognized properly in Windows. What drivers to I install for the Nexus 4 that will not upset the Nexus 10 driver install?

Will these also work without ruining the Samsung Nexus 10 drivers?

I uninstalled my Samsung drivers and installed the Universal Naked Drivers.
When I plug in my Nexus 4, in Device Manager under Portable Devices it says Nexus 4 and under Samsung Android Phone it says Google Nexus 4 ADB Interface.
When I plug in my Nexus 10, in Device Manager under Portable Devices it says Nexus 10 and under Samsung Android Phone it says Google Nexus 4 ADB Interface.
Why is the heading still called Samsung Android Phone for both devices?
Why does it say Google Nexus 4 ADB Interface when the Nexus 10 is plugged in?

That's what I used.

Nexus 10 does not show up as MTP device

I can't get my nexus 10 to show up as MTP device, I tried using toolkit to install driver but under device manger all I get is ADB component, no nexus 10, but there's always the logo to safely remove nexus 10 but it never shows up on screen. . . I am using windows 8 64bits I have also disabled driver signature enforcement.

May help, may not.
Settings -> storage -> Three dot menu button (top right) -> USB Computer Connection
Make sure it's ticked.

Its ticked but still not working

It will probably be a driver issue on your computer
I had the same problem yesterday. I did a factory reset and everything works for me.

Disable usb debugging and try again

Finally fixed it, don't really know how cos I did everything, formatted my nexus, removed all the drivers that had anything to do with Google and Samsung, disabled driver enforcement on windows 8, then I used naked driver to install it. . . everything is working well.
Thanx
