Well, I've tried to find what the difference is between the two phones.
I currently have a Samsung Focus Flash and I was looking to add a custom rom on my phone, but I don't know what the difference between the two phones are and IF I am able to.
Can anyone help me explain what exactly the difference are between the two phones is? =/ AND if a custom rom would work on my Focus Flash....
Thank you in advance!

Well, Focus i917 and Focus Flash i677 they're two different phones. For a side by side comparison, see here. Mainly, Flash is second generation (i917 is first) and has front facing camera and better CPU. The phones are completely different.
Do NOT flash a i917 rom on i667. It will brick your phone. There are no custom ROMs for i667 yet.
Awe. That kinda saddens me. I am kind of regretting on getting a Windows Phone... =/
But thank you for your reply

Hey all,
Just thought I'd share this interesting article I found:

Bad news is, no one with the old gear will be upgraded
If anyone gets a new 2gb unit, could you pull the build.prop for me?
I'd like to know if it's considered the same hardware model by the rom or a different one

I have a 2gb version - I am wondering if there will be a different branch of firmware for these newer devices? I assume over time, new features will stop coming to the 1gb versions...?
Currently I am stuck on 18.1 waiting for the 18.3 update... Is there specific firmware for the 2gb versions?
Should I side load it or could this break my device?

From the build.prop comparison, it looks like there is no fundamental difference between the two versions, at least not as far as Android is concerned. Both devices appear to use the same exact images. While the 18.3 image is on these forums, it is not yet posted at https://developers.google.com/glass/tools-downloads/system; there's really no rush to get the new version, but you are free to sideload it if you wish. Assuming everything goes smoothly, it shouldn't brick your device. Just understand that flashing images to your device without waiting for OTAs voids your warranty.
Is there anyway to use wireless abd without connecting glass to the computer?

Ok mate Here is the Solution that worked for me... (if you want your native Language)
1.Install Offical Firmware from sammobile.com of Canada with Product Code : XAC
2.Root your device.
3.Download Language Enabler from the Play Store
And Walla.... Work perfectly for me.

Thank you for asking the stupid question I was too afraid to ask but needed the answer too. I just successfully rooted my SM-T530NU, next I was looking for a custom recovery. Does anyone know if recoveries that say they're for the SM-T530 will work for the NU version? Specifically, I was thinking about using the TWRP in this thread but I'm nervous about using a custom recovery with a different model number. If the only difference is in fact the IR blaster then I'm inclined to believe the custom recovery is safe, I just was hoping someone could give me some feedback so I wasn't going blind. Thanks in advance, any input is greatly appreciated
hi,
just a thought about compatibility, i'm working on a rom build for the sm-t531 which i run on my sm-t530nu [it runs on both]
the sm-t53xx are largely the same as well as nearly the same as the sm-t33xx's, it's likely that as long as you keep
your kenel and modules sorted, the roms can like be used interchangeably.
Further the same rom i'm working on boots on my sm-t330nu albeit with screen glitches.
goto gsmarena andmcompare the specs between the galaxy tab 4 10.1 and 4 8.0 and youll see what i mean.
so if one variants firmware or new firmware get a new feature it's probably highly and easily portable.

Thanks for the help I was more stuck on installing a custom recovery but I gave it a try and TWRP installed successfully. Now it's time to start playing around with some ROM(s). If you just give me another day to get acclimated to this tablet and learn my way around it, I'd be happy to start testing your rom or any others, if and when they are ready to be tested
So then what is different between the t530nu and T530NZWAXAR model? I have found both and am confused. I am looking at purchasing larger screened tablet. We currently own several smaller tablets and I wish to stick with Samsung as it has been the best manufactured one for are use, but am unclear if there is a difference.

I tend to agree. I've got two of these and after a year they're both dogs. Terrible battery life, random reboots ànd both have random restarts and freezes.

I have a few questions for anyone familiar with the Samsung Galaxy J series, specifically the J3. I have virgin mobile, and after a long time suffering with their HTC Desire 510, I want to upgrade, and not wanting to spend $400 on a galaxy S5 , the J3 seems the next best phone to get. However, as I've grown used to having a rooted phone and customizing my phone as much as I want, etc, I want to make sure my next phone can be rooted, and has support for custom ROM's, etc.
The main thing that could help me with my decision would be some guidance as to whether other versions, the J2, J5, J7, etc, that are present here would be potentially compatible with the J3, or if I'm out of luck and should consider other options if rooting is a necessity for me.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Anyone?
I'm sure you can root it.
I'm using j5 and it took me like 15 minutes of reading and about an hour /including downloading and setting up all the things /for the root.
I just want to say that you would need to be prepared to wait until someone make a custom Rom for it.

Thats what I was thinking. I figure that rooting it (hopefully) is similar to the other J series. As long as its rooted, wouldn't I be able to (even w/o custom rom) debloat/customize/etc it with various root tools, apps2sd, etc? Or are those dependent on having a custom rom? On the only phone I've rooted so far (htc desire 510) I didn't really spend any time with stock rom when I rooted, instead immediately flashing Nonsense rom, so I'm not sure what limitations keeping stock rom comes with when rooted.
Thank you for the reply! It gives me a bit of hope at least.
I'm not really familiar with the device. As I said before I have a j5. According to the applications that you mentioned I think that it would be possible to get and install them. But rooting isn't quantum mechanics. There are some apps that you could easily install on almost any device and get the root privileges. For example kingroot I am sure you can find others. I usually root my devices trough pc.I recommend you to take some time before jumping on the first option that comes up as a possible solution.
According to changing the stock Rom. I don't known how developed is that treat so.. Again read here and there about it.
GL!
Let me know if I helped by hitting the thumb up
I dont think permanent root is going to be possible until a working twrp is made so that you can flash supersu. I know that sux, I wanted to get one for my wife because she broke the screen on her vm s3. But without root and the ability to get unlimited hotspot... nope. I asked a dev ( lrs121) if he would port twrp to it. He said he would try if I had the phone and could get him the necessary files from it. Look in the sprint s3 section under twrp for virgin and boost s3. He is a great dev.
Actually far as I can say there are 2 twrp options. you just have to read more

Read where? Could you be a little more vague?
I am by no means a noob, and when I answer someone, I generally throw in a link.
But thanks for letting me know it exists.
Is it another phones twrp that works? Any hints at all?

Sorry i was on the phone while traveling. I`ve mistaken that it was about the j5 ( like mine device) and for that especially i had tried 2 working options up to now for twrp. but i`m pretty sure you can find tutorials or you can even simply DL the twrp /for example/ 3 install it as an apk and than you if it stuck just would need to DL odin for your PC and than strictly follow the steps / install /unzip odin, connect device , go into DL mode and flash it with the stock ROM which you can find in sammobile /.com i guess/ ?
GL and hit thanks if i helped!

Hi all -
I posted this question on CM forums - they suggest I also try here - I have a Cricket Galaxy S4 - post AT&T buyout. It is a GSM/LTE phone using CM11 and a Cricket SIM card. I was wondering if I am limited to CM11, or if I wanted to upgrade to CM13, would I just use the current jlfteatt builds? Anyone out there in a similar situation?
Thanks!

What's the exact phone model?
Since it already has CM11 you should also be able to get CM13 on it.
Both the "about phone" and sticker behind the battery say SGH-I337. Sorry for being noobish about it, but is that what you are referring to? I know the S4s cell in different flavors, but otherwise I just think it is the garden variety S4. I guess my main concern is all the talk about the basebsnd versions. Mine doesn't match exactly, but not sure if that is just about rooting the phone. I am of the same mindset that it should work if I have 11, but I can't afford to brick my phone just from a time perspective (never mind money as well ) but I want the shiny upgrade sooooo badly....?
Thanks!

There's nothing you can do about the basebands and bootloader. If you update them your device might get locked and no custom roms or root can flashed anymore.
Sincthe the phone already has CM11 I assume it isn't locked. So just flash a newer recovery (TWRP) and flash CM13.
Hi all,
It's been a long, long while since I tinkered with roms, I think my last one was either a Samsung Galaxy Tab (the original one!) or an HTC Sensation.
So I've recently acquired a Note 4 n910F and can't stand all of the Samsung bloatware, and I'd like a newer version of android for compatibility with newer apps.
So remind me... What does 'stock' mean? Is this as Samsung intended, or as android intended? I'd just like a vanilla as possible android experience that works well.
Help please!

Hey! I don't know if you've already found your answers but I thought I would respond in case you haven't.
In almost every reference you see in this section of xda "stock" is referring to the TouchWiz OS that Samsung phones are shipped with.
True android stock is referred to as "vanilla" like you said.
I use a different model Note 4 than you have but from what I've read it's fairly easy to flash TWRP (custom recovery) on the F model via Odin and from there you can pick from whichever rom suits you. Just be sure you're in the Snapdragon section. There are many different models of the Note 4 and some of them have a different processor called Exynos. The roms are processor specific and you can only use the ones built for your type which is the Snapdragon processor.
One other thing I wound suggest, because of the different variants of the F model, is to take notice of your CSC code. Once you start flashing other roms it may be hard to track down the original code. Use this app to see what it is and that way you can flash the appropriate modem file (or if you need to reflash your stock firmware) instead of just using whichever modem file is provided in the OP of the rom you're flashing. There are many different variants of the F model with many different country codes, just remember that just because the firmware has a newer release date doesn't mean it's the correct version.
TWRP- Found here
Samsung USB drivers for Windows. Needed to connect your phone to your PC- Found here
Odin download- Found here
Development section for Snapdragon- Found here
Fantastic response, thank you. I think I'd like to do without TouchWiz... Pretty much all of my previous phones have been HTC, which either had the HTC skin over it, which was fairly unobtrusive, or barely anything at all. The current version of android and TW on the note 4 is messy.
