No music player in lock screen? - Galaxy S III General (US Carriers)

Has anyone noticed that when playing music, the player does not appear on the lock screen itself? Is there any way to get it to appear? I've always been able to move to another track from the lock screen on HTC phones.
I'd prefer not to download a 3rd party music player.

U can drag the notification bar down and control from there but yea I like when it's right on the lock screen itself so I got poweramp

Not on mine....

Man this sucks. How could they not put the music player right on the lock screen. I want to be able to hit the power button, and hit next track. I think the next quickest way is to just put the music player as one of the lock screen shortcuts.

poweramp

The music player shows up in my lock screen as well. I use pin method of lock what type are you?

Yea it works with a secured lock screen because you can't bring down notification without unlocking

Is there anyway to have music controls on the lockscreen without having to turn on some sort of security or password?

It's working on mine latest cm9 nightly. Using Samsung walkman app

You could always download Wave Control from the play store... hover your hand over proximity sensors to play/pause music and wave once to skip songs... plus it works when the screen is off as well. There's a free and Pro version but the free version will do whatever u need.

Cloudskipper. Best music app i've used in a while, and best of all, it's FREE. Awesome lockscreen control too. No need for PowerAmp.

Just tried cloudskipper and I have to admit I like except it doesn't have a folders tab but for a free player pretty nice but I still prefer poweramp

Widget please for the new music player in 2.2

I love the new music player and its features but for the life of me I don't understand why a widget was not included with this player.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I guess because the widget was for the android 2.1 player not the samsung player that comes with 2.2. Not to mention that would make it redundant having the controls in the notification bar after you start the app and a widget. What the should do on the other hand is give you the option to always have the controls shown in the notification bar. I also would have preferred a auto-rotation toggle over volume toggle... Because the volume buttons did a good job of that on their own, but now the simple task has become more complex and redundant...

may be bcos its not final yet??
Cough up $5.00 for PowerAmp and leave all default players as an afterthought.
Seriously, PowerAmp should be default. It's just that damn good.
Download Pure Music Widget from the market. Its a dollar, runs flawlessly, has like half a dozen widgets you can choose from and is awesome. Also works with almost every stock player on any device. Was actually my first purchase on Android.
Just get MusicMod. Free... Awesome...

I second the need for a default widget, its crazy. The samsung music player is really nice, I rather use it than another one. I like the idea of always being able to keep the controls in the notification bar as an alternative to a widget though.

I got player pro but I'm really loving the look of the new player so yes a widget would be great.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I agree, the new stock player is nice. It is however lacking 2 important features for me though, the widget and headset controls. If they updated it to include those features, I'd drop winamp in a heartbeat. But until then...

Doubletwist for me. Lockscreen controls, nice simple widget. Player is free and I got the wireless sync with doubletwist desktop for $0.99. I found the sync works better than the Winamp one for me.

Exactly.. I hav always used "Mixzing" since the 'Moment' 1st came out & I went to Android.. but for the 1st time, the stock player really has my grasp.. I'm a Producer/mix engineer so I know what i hear as far as music goes (not sayin no one else does as well) but the look, function & the 5.1 thing did itfor me.. 5.1 feature is 2nd to none with any of the players mentioned period...

Music fix

Hello... i seem to be having trouble with my music. When i start playing it through the stock player and leave my phone alone to play some tunes... the phone will stop the music after about 3 minutes of playing. I have juice defender running and i set up the music player to continue running after the screen locks... does anyone have any idea what the hell is going on? Thanks for taking the time to help.

Most probably your stock musicplayer is in "auto end list" in task manager app, it autostops the apps in the list at about the time you mentioned. Hope this helps and solves your issue...
I looked at auto end list but it wasnt there. Do you know of any other good music player? I usually use subsonic to connect to my media server at home, it has an option to keep the screen on. but when I'm in the car i like to listen to my tunes without streaming...

No problem, I ended up choosing PlayerPro myself a while back out of those Top 3.
BTW, Grab the "DSP Pack" and you can really have some fun with the equalizer settings added on...

Sometimes auto-ending a certain other app also causes the music to stop. I don't remember what it was, but it may have been photo gallery, or some other such media.

Is there a way to play music from browser with screen off?

Alright so the other night I was showing off my new Nexus 7 to a friend. He's a strong Apple fanboy so naturally we were we comparing several different features between our devices. I showed off Google Now and all that goodness. But I soon found myself missing a feature that he had on his 4S. And that was the ability to play music from a browser or YouTube app while having his screen off.. I'm pretty sure this was the first time I was envious of an iOS product.
Well so the question is, is there any way to play music from a browser while having my screen off? Even when switching tabs in Chrome, the music will stop playing. And no I don't want to download the audio file from the YouTube video using a special app or website.
Thanks for the future advice/info.

Oh yes, the old double tap home button after locking the screen at YouTube trick. It brings up the volume , pause and play buttons, but if you hit play, it streams the audio. Pretty badass

Anyway, PVSTAR, and to a lesser extent StickIt.
There's an app called nextvid that replaces YouTube and does that.
Compatible on the n7, hope that helps.

Music Player in notification

Just had this issue start a few days ago. Anytime the music player goes to the ticker view it also gets put in the notification screen, right? And when you completely exit the music player, it should go out in the notification screen. Well, not so much for me. Lol... The music player will stay in the notification until a reboot, even if I go to running services and force stop the music player service. In logcat it is constantly updating the ticker music view, even if the player is not running. Anyone else have this?

I haven't noticed thus when I used the stock player but since then I bought the amp called power amp which is a huge improvement in terms of everything including sound quality so downloading another music player is an option if it bothers you

Not a big bother, other than its something constantly running in the background... But as often as I reboot shouldn't be a big deal. Besides, I'd miss the ticker music view. Just wondered if anyone else had it happen.

Yeah i dont have the ticker with power amp but I set it to be accessible from the lockscreen so I just hit the power button and can control my music, worst comes to worst if the problem bothers you that much its worth a try.
Also I checked to see if my stock music player did that and mine does not. So it could be the possibility that a mod is causing it and it's not the gingerbread rom. Also I have beats audio flashed so that could be another reason mine doesn't do it (most likely not). I would say it's most likely a mod

it is when it works. for some reason that option will not work on my phone. i removed pocket skip track. rebooted. checked the box in wanam, rebooted. wont work. had to put pocket skip track back on.
Edit: Just tried it again. wanam mod doesn't work for google play music but it worked fine for the samsung music app. Since i use google play music (Yes i have google play set as defaul in applications.) and not the samsung app it is back to pocket skip track. Good thing is once you install it, choose default music app and start the service, you don't have to do a thing with it and you can choose any player you want it to work with.
Wanam also works with Power amp, double twist, and several other third party players. Play music is the only player I've heard of that is confirmed not working. It even works for me on non music player apps such as umano.
