Is there a way to speech to text in text messaging?
There is no mic anywhere.
In settings I have "Voice input" checked
Never-mind found it - hold the setting icon

You can also use S-Voice to do so. Just double press the home key, and say "send text to 'person a', "message body"
(where Person A = a person in your contacts list, and Message Body is the body of the message you want to send)

So i changed from the 8125 to the wing and I have discovered it is much more difficult to send a new text message. You have to go through like 5 different commands...(open the message bar, select text message account, tap menu, scroll to new, scroll to sms) it just seems so tedious so i was wondering if anyone knows of a way to make it so i can have new message be one of my soft key choices (preferably where the delete soft key is). Its really annoying.
Thanks BP
How about when you install the HTC Home plugin, I HAD one until i bricked my phone yesterday :'( it came with the PDAVIET rom which was released some time ago.
What it does is, it shows on the Today screen a link to Email and one to SMS.
That's probably the fastest way.
Cheers
how 'bout putting the command "new sms" under a softkey ?
Or simply install the program "name" (sorry forgot the name) that puts a "New" menu at your left soft-key in the today screen, from there you can choose sms, e-mail, mms etc.. Just search for New menu
Press Contacts softkey. Scroll to the intended recipient. Tap, hold, pick "Send Text Message". Type text message. Press Send softkey.
What's the problem?
How About VIJay?
Hello,
I use VijaySMS All the time... It allows you to make a shortcut (I use SPB Today so I create the shortcuts in there) that either starts a blank SMS or start one to a specific contact. You can find the program at Vijay's webpage here: http://www.vijay555.com/
Enjoy!
You could set up the Message button to automatically go to your SMS Inbox when you press it.
Messaging Inbox > Menu > Tools > Options...
Select Text/SMS and uncheck "Display account picker when opening Messaging." This will automatically open your SMS Inbox, thus eliminating the first two steps of your problem.

I actually have an Iphone theme on my Mogul, and when I click on the SMS button it says something about invalid blah blah blah... So what I am trying to figure out is what program or path should I link the SMS button / shortcut to...
When I open a sms, it opens in a threaded view with all the messages in the conversation. However, is it possible to delete a specific message in this conversation?
It is but it is annoying.
In threaded view click on the underlined part of the message, the bit with the name and time. This will take you to a screen with options to call, text etc. Press the back button and the whole message should now be highlighted blue. Now the delete option is available in the menu.
Does anyone know an easier way to do this or delete multiple messages at a time?
To select the message in question just use the up and down keys on one of the HTC keyboards....

Thank you. It worked. But sometimes I was able to select a message, so I could delete it, without taking me to the new screen. But it seemed really random, most of the times it took me to the new screen.
michi123's solution also works well. Seems to me that this SMS application isn't really made for devices with no physical buttons.
When I received a sms from a unknown contact, how do I call from number shown in the sms w/o saving the contact first?
When on the Messages tab, click on "All Messages" then find the sender and highlight them. Press the Call key next to the Home key to bring up another screen to verify the number, then press "Call"
That's helpful, thanks...

When I press the Genius button and select "voice search" to speak an audible command and try to send a txt msg by speaking for example:
"Send text to Joe. What time is the party?"
This will open a new txt message box with the entire voice command in the message text including the "send text to joe" part. And it leaves the TO: field blank. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Have you tried using Vlingo or another voice search app?
