How to get flash working? I have tried 3 different browsers! - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I know flash isn't supposed to be supported in jelly bean, but people say it does work.
I have installed the latest flash player.
And I have tried with the following browsers:
Ics browser +
Dolphin mobile browser
And opera mobile browser
But when I try to watch a Flash video with them, it just shows it as loading, and it doesn't play.
I know the video which I am trying to watch does work on Android with flash, as I can watch it on my 4.0 phone.
Can anyone please tell me how they got flash working......?
Here is the video I want to play:
http://au.tv.yahoo.com/plus7/revenge/-/watch/14334076/mon-23-jul-series-1-episode-22/?play=1
Thanks in advance
Cheers

edit: Totally missed a line!

Try Firefox Aurora.

What you need is the stock browser found in previous ICS builds. There's a thread on stock browser. It has links in there to download it and I structions on how to implent it in system apps. Also links in there to known working flash player version. I have both on my nexus 7. I don't even use chrome anymore..lol this stock browser is alot faster and flash videos/movies play perfect on it. Even going fullscreen works fine. Look for the thread. Its either in general or Q n A section. Might be few pages back in either section. If I find it, I will edit post and link you to it to save you some time.

Firefox Beta or xScope Browser from the Play Store are what you need. The second one is actually less glitchy with full screens.

use dolphin 8.5.1 only. don't let the n7 autoupdate your apps! (first install flash 11.1 apk, THEN install dolphin 8.5.1 apk)

Adobe air, &dolphin HD browser works smooth for me flash & all tht..

I installed flash .apk and then firefox beta from the GP store. Works without rooting, and full screen works perfectly with no crashing ;D

xscope worked!

Youtube "Gingerbread" port to Eclaire

As many of you may have seen on the main XDA website someone was able to port the gingerbread youtube app over to 2.1, i tried downloading it and deleted the stock youtube app and tried to install this with Super Manager but no luck, has anyone else tried?
I would like to see this working
Worked for me
I followed the instructions for in the Vibrant Thread and got this working.
Never used adb shell before but not hard at all.

Tried uninstalling through Titanium and then installing the new apk - didn't work. Followed the instructions here using adb - success.

Got this working....alot more features and really smooth...
Just renamed it to YouTube.apk and pasted over the one in systemthrough root explorer, too much to bother to connect to a pc.

This worked for me. Don't have a computer with adb on it at work. Pretty nice upgrade to Youtube.
EDIT: By the way, this is NOT a Gingerbread app, it's an upgraded Froyo app. Gingerbread isn't even released yet, AFAIK.
I installed it during my morning commute straight from the phone. Works great. I have to get used to it after using the old one but this is more like using the website. It's nice.

Here is a quick theme of just the background widget of the app. Rename it accordingly and push it over your existing one in system/app.

Only available to those running 2.2
couldn't get it to work, but it works now!
Mine was working just fine and when I tried to open it again just now all I get is FC.
It was fun while it lasted, I guess. Good thing I still have the original youtube apk.

Hah, same thing here. Worked a few times, then nothing but FC. Oh well. Back to the original .apk
Could someone please upload the original apk? Thanks.

Modified flash apk doesn't work..no Hulu

For those who have an android phone running froyo your probably aware that hulu had blocked their site from android users. Generally in the past there were methods around this which involved installing a modified flash.apk.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=688054
Okay so I went ahead and removed the previously installed flash apk (use root explorer to do it) then I use adb to install it. The next step involved using the debug mode in the browser to make our seem like it is a desktop. Well when I type about:debug in my browser and go into the settings there is no option to change it to desktop. I only see these options:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
So my question is, how the heck do we get hulu working?! When I used skyfire to and switched it to the desktop view, it said I didn't have flash installed. Any ideas?
update:
okay so i found a thread on XDA that seemed to get me a lil further but not where i wanna be.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794512&page=12
this thread suggest that you just install the latest flash.apk and just replace the lib file they give u with the one that comes preinstalled. doing that gets me an error on hulu:
"Unfortunately Hulu is not supported on your platform. We apologize for any inconvenience."
Before, I just got an error saying that they are gonna bring hulu plus to android but thats about it. yes i changed it to desktop and even tried it on skyfire. nothing.
anyone?

Try about:useragent.
Regards,
Dave
Hi dave. thanks i used the wrong cmd to get to the useragent mode. but i got it set to desktop and now its saying flash i need flash player 10.0.32 or higher (tho i have the most up to date one). hmm...what u think?
You can't use the Nexus One hacked apks on the Tab. I posted instructions for hacking the Tab in another thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9494802
don't waste your time, hulu will have it patched in a week....

Hello!
Here's what I did to install it on the Kindle Fire HD 8.9 after several try and fails:
1. Download and install MX Player for NEON: https://s3.amazonaws.com/1.7.10/videoplayer_ad__1_7_10_neon_market.apk
2. Download the NEON touch version of XBMC but do not install it yet!: http://xbmc-android.googlecode.com/...-8fa3e93254bbd35996f2cdcd72db99ec04fe32cc.apk
Move the XBMC apk to "system/app/" using a file manager like ES File Explorer with all the ROOT options active, change permissions to rw- r- r-, install it from there and done, you can open it. When going back to home keep your default launcher, you can find xbmc in your app shortcuts.
Enjoy!

I mamaged to install a build of xbmc a while back and it was terrible sluggish but I did not need to put it in system for it to function. Is this running smooth?
Sent from my KFTT using xda app-developers app
This is smooth and it uses external video playback, default MX player so smooth playback also.
Hardware acceleration everywhere.
I needed to install it in system/app because it is built like an android launcher, not a standard app.
I've been playing around with the Icefilms addon and now trying to get Navi-X on there as well.
AW: Stable XBMC for Android released and tested on Kindle HD 8.9!
No, there is no acceleration at all in xbmc, that's why you have to use external players. Works good with some protocols but not all.
KFTT with Tapatalk HD
Anybody tried it on KFDH 7"
/system/app has only 30MB free and this xbmc apk is over 60MB. I was able to copy the video player, but I managed to just do an install of this xbmc apk and it copied it to /data/app
Thanks
I did not know the system folder was a separate partition?
Sent from my KFTT using xda app-developers app
i addeed a symbolic link from /data/app to /system/app for the xbmc apk using adb. Now I see the option as a launcher, when it says starting up for the first time it stalls and pops up a message xbmc stopped
I did it per original instructions on a kfhd 7 and get xbmc has stopped press ok.

I don't use xpose, but thank you for the useful app!
When I uninstall YouTube updates, all works fine. But after update same trouble. My wife sgs4 has same configuration and YouTube works fine with latest updates.
