Dead Trigger have just converted me to FPS gamer on the Android. It plays quite nicely in ICS, however, in JB, it lags like mad, and is not playable when there are like 5+ zombies on the screen.
While waiting for ChainFire to support JB so I can give that a try again, I hooked up my phone to ADB while playing Dead Trigger and realise that Android seems to be doing a lot of Garbage Collection and restarting of processes (gapps and maps mainly)
Suspecting that these GC and restart might be causing the lag, I installed AutoKiller and set it to the Aggressive Profile, and viola, Dead Trigger is much smoother now! Will do a bit more testing on which AutoKiller mode is best.

I have newest Shaps´s rom and + Memmaid and Pocket mechanic example.
I have also made many tweaks, but I don´t think so that tweaks causes this.
OS is fast and stable and there are lots of RAM free
Many games runs fine, but example my favorite game SkyForce not.
Slowing occur when game is CPU dependent and only then when I touch to screen. Example SkyForce streering is done by touching screen, so almost all time game running 3/5 from normal speed. Is this normal?
Edit: ATI patch not couses it.
Also example these games acting same:
Street Duel Underground Racing
Breakout 2
Dogfight
Skyforce reloaded
Siberian Strike
I have now clean pandora naked and same thing.
Please tell me is this "normal".
Yes, this is normal. It happens on all roms I tested too. It's really annoying.
you use the touchscreen to steet in skyforce? I use the D-Pad, but oddly enough, the D-Pad slows down the game too, but not the hardware keyboard.
I didnt use to have that problem before, but I had a 2 months gap where i didnt use a TyTN and the problem arised only when I bought a new one after 2 months.
So it might be a new OS/ROM issue (not custom ROM issue, but OS/ROM version).
I'd have to reload an ancient ROM to test, but im too lazy
I have recently experienced an issue that never happened before while playing demanding games. Basically, my a500 will seemingly randomly freeze on an individual frame of the game an the screen will start to flicker on and off. Audio and touch input from the screen still work as I can hear the sound effects made from touching the areas of the screen (gun firing etc.), however the screen refuses to do anything but flicker on the same frame until I force close the app from the task manager (it isn't even detected as unresponsive). This has taken place on NOVA 2 and MC3 as well playstation and n64 emulators. I just upgraded to Civato's flex jb so I'm not sure if its a compatibility issue with a500, but I seem to remember all of these apps working when I first upgraded so I'm not sure what gives now. Any help would be appreciated.
I have exactly the same problem with my a500

I have exactly the same problem with my Acer a500. It's incredible to see that it has passed more than a year and there still isn't a solution for this problem. Many a500 users say that it may be a memory problem. Since then, when I need to run some graphic demanding games or apps, I first stop some applications that are running.
My Gt3 does it on mupen too but only if I load state from slower game speed like 50 %

hello,
i'm getting crazy with this annoying micro stuttering and occasional lagging. it's happening everywhere - home screens, app drawer, settings, apps like xda and tapatalk. it's not major, but it's enough to be seen and to drive me nuts. i tried stock KK, Cloudy stock 2.5 and Cloudy G3. i also tried several kernels - stock, bruce Kernel and Dorimanx. i also tried tons of different settings for cpu governor and hotplugging; i tried the lag mod which have to remove the scrolling lag - it seams that nothing is helping. i tried with and without Greenify (to avoid a lot of resident apps), i also tried both Dalvik and Art - nothing. the slight lag is there - and it's just that - slight stutter, few frames dropped - enough to make you think that some setting will kill it finally. but no matter what i try, that slight lag and stutter is still there. can you give me some suggestions - i'm coming from Galaxy S3, which i used with Beanstalk rom - i experienced 0 lag and stutter and i cannot believe that i see that in a phone like the G2, given the powerful processor and the 2 gb of ram.
please help me not to get insane with that phone

I've only got 550mb of ram free and my phones flying. Not even a little bit of lag. But for the first week or so after re flashing the stock Rom I did get all that lag you were describing. Even after I debloated, flashed Bruce's and did every other mod you can think of. It ended up going away on it's own after a while. Maybe you just need to stick with one setup and let your phone settle.
You can use beanstalk on the g2 as well, if you were interested in going that route again.
I have the same issue. In games it lags and stutters just enough to put you off the game. I have noticed some videos do this as well like youtube. I am still testing this but I am reluctant to spend any time on it as it has a clear issue when other lower spec'd phones run the same games fine. Basic games as well. It is subtle, but the stutter is there. On some games it's can even be a full 1 or 2 second complete lag and game halt. I tried the CPU throttle option in hidden menus and this did nothing.
Can this be hardware problem? I phone LG and the support agent was extremely unhelpful. He said that it would be sent for repair and they will not play games, only flash it and run a test. I'm concerned this will be a classic case of "there was no fault found" and it will be a complete saga for ages. I already had this before with a different phone (different problem) and I'm fed up with phone problems.
Mine is from Vodafone UK store bought. I am tempted to try stock UK firmware to see if this fixes. Shouldn't have to though.... I also might end up trying a custom ROM to see if it goes away. I absolutely love the phone otherwise. I just want it to work.
PS: It runs benchmarks fine with high scores.
So I don't know when this started happening but almost every single game on my Galaxy S7 lags after about a minute of playing, like the frame rate will get cut down from 60fps to a choppy 30-50fps, and stay that way unless I exit to the home screen and back into the game or press the app switcher button for a second and go back into the game, then it jumps back to 60fps for a little bit and the lag goes away but it always comes back.
I have no idea what's causing this problem and I'm tempted to factory reset my phone to see if that fixes it because I've tried almost everything (disable game launcher and tools, disable the packages, game mode, high performance mode, delete cache, rebooting, etc.)
Does anyone else have this problem and could it be a certain app using resources in the background that's causing lag? I'm on the stock rom from at&t, no root and no bootloader unlocked, everything is pretty much vanilla.
Finally after months of trying to figure this out, I fixed it by pure luck.
Every Galaxy S7 user should do the following:
1. Download Game Tuner
2. Create a custom profile
3. Set FPS to 60
NOW ON TO THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP!
4. Set HW Performance to +4
HW Performance affects the stupid throttling that games seem to do that prevents smooth 60fps in an effort to preserve battery life and keep heat down I'm guessing. Setting it to +4 fixed all the lag I was getting in every single game.
I may have discovered a way to make Shield Tablet very smooth and stable very consistently. I don't have the technical backing for it - im just a regular user doing trial and error. I hope it helps the others who want to keep this awesome Device live up to its potential...longer.
So here's my Device setup:
- Shield Tablet US-LTE
- using stock 5.4 debloated for K1 by Sh0X31 for K1 (yes, it works well with my us-lte as long as you don't care about system updates and stylus app)
- rooted via magisk
- Xposed framework
- Nova launcher
Using the ROM as it is significantly improved the performance of the device compared to stock 5.4 for US or RoW LTE. But the sluggish experience Everytime the device wakes up from deep slumber, or connects to WIFI for the first time, is still there. Using Antutu system monitor on the notification panel, I could correlate the sluggish performance with the CPU hitting above 94%. That happens 99% of the time so I suspected that most of the persistent sluggish performance is a CPU issue rather than a RAM issue. So I looked for a way to pinpoint which apps are hogging CPU operations, and hopefully discover what triggers it.
I tried enabling CPU usage in Developer's Options but alas, it could only show com.android.systemui so nothing much can be done from there. I understand this is a bug in Android 7 and it was supposed to be fixed on 7.1 but we all know Shield Tablet is stuck at 7.0 for now.
Next I tried checking out Running Services, still in Developer's Option. So I saw a lot of apps there that seem to be hogging CPU - Malwarebytes, ShareIt, Antutu, Google Services, etc. I uninstalled Malwarebytes and ShareIt but the CPU was still operating at 94% and it takes the device a few seconds to respond to my inputs.
Finally, I noticed these Nvidia-specific processes - these few KBs of operations particularly the ones for OTA upgrade and Media as well as Nvidia -customize (something like that). I forced them to stop and voila! My device CPU suddenly calmed somewhere between 30-50% and as expected, it's operating smoothly and snappily.
When I rebooted, those Nvidia processes naturally became active. I suspect that it's probably part of the device startup process. And as expected as well, whenever they're present the device is expected to go sluggish at some point before its CPU can calm down again.
So now, it's been 2 days and my CPU operates between 18-54% on normal operation, sometimes hitting 80% when I transfer files or play games. But it has NEVER gone sluggish, not even once (waking from deep slumber, connecting to WIFI, etc). I'm very satisfied and back to enjoying my Shield Tablet.
DISCLAIMER: I don't have proof that this is indeed the solution. I can't explain it technically as well. Hoping someone with more knowledge on system process can enlighten us. One thing I'm convinced though is that the sluggishness we all experience comes from NVIDIA-specific processes. I make this inference from my observation that having AOSP ROMs make the device smooth consistently. But I don't like any other custom ROMs coz I need the controller support for the tablet. I hope I make sense and hopefully this could help some Shield Tablet Fans. Sorry for the long write up.
Thanks for the post! If you want to try and dig deeper into this, consider using Tasker, I believe it can be used to make those force stops automatic on start up. Good luck!

Thanks for the TIP. I've checked it out in Google Play, the paid version listed what it can do. Need to study if it can disable those mentioned process at startup.
I really wished Nvidia would finally make it's firmware documentation open to the public.
