I just bought a case off amazon and realized that it doesn't have the auto screen off effects of smart cases. Does any know how to make it so the cover that lay over the screen turn on/off the screen when the case is closed ? I did try running the magnet along the edge of the screen but that doesn't seem to turn off the screen.

Try a stronger magnet.

hi
As soon as i make a phone call my screen goes off, now on my iphone it used to do this only when the light sensor was covered. to bringthe screen back on I have to press one of the black buttons in the bottom of the phone, is this a fault?
I had this problem after fitting a screen protector. removing it solved the issue for me.
The genuine HTC Screen protectors have 2 holes in for the sensors. I can confirm this does not affect the screen when making a call.
Are you using a screen protector which doesn't have a hole for the proximity sensor etc?
It may be it can't function right as it maybe seeing the protector as something close to the sensor, hence why the screen goes off.
I have a Vidocq screen protection and the phone wake up again when I finish the call...
Hey guys, this is extremely bothering. I have an xqisit folio case that also doubles as a stand. Anyways, when I open the case, the screen lights up, and if I open it just ever so slightly, I notice there's this view mode that displays time and battery, the information that shows through the s view cover.
Anyways, I don't own a s view cover nor do I want one. I also don't want the screen to light up when I open the case because that means the screen's not completely off/phone's not completely resting and uses up more battery.
How the hell can I disable this? I've googled and found nothing and also gone through the settings but found nothing there as well.

well i suppose your folio case uses also the magnetic sensor used by the s-view cover to turn the screen on and off.
as this switch was primary implemented for the s-view cover its the default behaviour to show the s-view screen when you close your cover.
afaik there is no mod to change it right now but i hope this "s-view mode" will be customizable in future with the help of our fantastic community devs! :fingers-crossed:
anyway dont worry about the battery consumption too much as the s-view screen is only displayed for about 5 seconds and then the screen turns completely off.

Thanks a lot! Out of thanks for the moment so can't thank you.
I have S view cover.
When the screen is unlocked and you close the cover, it will show the time. If u open it a little, it will still show time. But if you open it till roughly more than 30 degrees, it will either show the lockscreen(for those with passcode/pin etc.) or homescreen(for those with no lock).
When screen is off and you close the cover, it will not show anything. Open the cover alittle, maybe around 20degrees, it will still not show anything.
I got the ARAS case that has a huge magnet and when I open my phone and flip the cover all the way to the back it turns the phone off.
How can I change the sensitivity settings for the magnet?
PS
I tested with Tasker and there is a big difference in magnetism when the phone cover is close versus opened all the way to the back of the phone

I haven't seen anything on the settings or build.prop, kernel or elsewhere to control the magnetic sensitivity on the switch of the G2... Actually I think it's only either on or off detection for the Quick Window case. You can enable it or disable this on the Accessories menu.
Good luck!
Ok, how about using tasker to activate or deactive the quickwindow case option?
Right now I have tasker set to turn the screen off when magentism is between 0 to 60, and when I flip the cover back the screen stays on
Anyone knows app working with custom MM (especially RR 5.7.4), which can be used with Flip Cover "designed by Motorola" and works?
Tried few apps from Play Store (Smart Cover, Smart Screen On/Off Auto, Smart Screen On Off (New)) and nothing works...
I would love feature like this. Any idea?
Sensor is OK in CPU-Z and when calling.
EDIT: IntelliCover vibrates when opening/closing cover so it's OK, but still screen doesn't turn on/off...

Have you tried Gravity Screen?
No. Tried it now and it's not made for cover, but still it works exactly same as IntelliCover - vibrates when I close the cover when display is off (when on, vibrations are not triggered) and turns on the screen when I open the cover.
It turns off the disolay, but only when proximity is covered AND display is pointing down....
So it too doesn't turn off the display by itself ONLY when I close the cover...
It's better than nothing that it turn screen on, but would prefer something which works both ways.
Had to change working angle and it works
Thanks
The only problem is tat it's to sensitive...

It says in the manual that there is a "Hall sensor" hidden somewhere on the screen which allows the screen to be turned on/off when the case is opened/closed. I have a Noreve case which doesn't seem to have this functionality. Does anyone know what the Huawei case has inside it to make this happen, and where exactly it is? Is it a magnet or something else? I've tried moving a magnet everywhere on the screen but I wasn't able to trigger anything.
If possible, I'd like to modify my Noreve case to support his, but I have no idea how the original Huawei case does it.
Also, is there a setting which needs to be enabled for this to work? I have "smart cover" enabled, but I also tried my magnet attempts with it disabled.
From the manual:
"When you use the protective flip cover designed for the M3, the Hall sensor enables your screen to turn on automatically when you open the cover and to turn off when you close it."
"M3 has many useful features which can be used easily. As you open the M3 protective flip cover, the screen turns on. As you close it, the screen turns off."

Make sure Smart Cover is turned on in Smart Assistance settings.
I found it, just a bit up and left from the fingerprint sensor. Not all magnets work, and the pole matters, it only works in one orientation. I also had to put a metal plate on the other side of the magnet so it wouldn't lock it when the case is flipped open and against the back of the tablet.
This is now a perfect replacement for my broken galaxy Tab S!
I have the official Huawei case and I think there are two sensors as on the case there is a plate / magnet (visible under case) to the left and up a bit from the finger print sensor and a second one half way on the right hand edge. I'll try to post a photo tomorrow which will make a much better job than my description
